Help me, I have 3.9.68 version and my problem is - when I buy any player counter(pirice) is too fast moves,
This is no problem with sensitive mouse, only game.

If you use the Tapani 2.19 patch (http://www.champman0102.co.uk/downloads.php?do=file&id=1) you can change the mouse sensitivity.

If you dont like playing with the patch applied there's not a lot you can do I'm afraid - curse of the modern technology on an 10 yr old game

When you are installing the patch, there will be an option called 'Idle Sensitivity', try different settings to see if they work but 'desktop' should be fine.

I have installed 3.9.68 with the March 2012 Data update.

When offering a new contract, it is impossible to create a small increment in wage. Is there a solution to slow down the speed of the game to make it possible to make small adjustments?

Hm, not really. Using Tapani patch helps a little bit, but it's not that much better ;).

Actually the fast clicking stuff is due to high USB polling rate (125Hz). You may try plugging your mouse to PS2 port and see if it helps (when I tried it was real solution).

What happening in my game is on screens like the offer contract screen's or the bid for players screens when I press the button to raise or lower a value it flies through all available options. If I want to increase a bid by £1,000 then I can spend 5 minutes trying to click the raise an lower buttons trying to stop just in time to get it on the value I want.

I don't know if this is a problem with my game or if its something that I need to put up with but any help would be appreciated.

Its an old game designed for old PC's and OS's, newer hardware works too fast........ you'll get used to it ;)

what i could never figure out though is that its fine in one game but not in the next.

playing a single player game right now where i can do contracts just fine. one click means one step. but i do remember others when it went way too quick and i needed 10 tries to get the right result.

Workaround: click close to + or - icon, keep mouse button pressed then swipe across icon. Works for me.

I just downloaded the game again, but I seem to have one problem..

Whenever I try to place a bid on a player it is impossible to do so without the numbers flying.. I try to make a bid go from for example 1,5 million to 1,75 it just flies from 1,5 up to 2 or even higher.. Is there anyway for me to make so that this doesnt happen?

Hi Guys,

I checked for the answer to problem in 'Mouse Sensitivity Issues' but it didn't seem to address it.

I'm playing the latest update with the latest patch on a Windows 8 laptop and I cannot drag anything. I cannot drag players on the tactics screen to new positions (a nightmare if the keeper gets sent off!) nor can I drag the positions to the players on the squad screen. Has anyone encountered this issue yet and is there a solution?

Are the other features in his patch applied? Could it be that the patch isn't working at all?

I have the problem too from time to time. Occasionally, everything will work fine, then when you try to make a substution, or do squad numbers, or change players into different training regimes, you are unable to do anything at all, as you'll click, and the red dashed box will disappear, or never show up in the first place, almost acting like you just clicked on it, instead of click and hold.

this is really starting to piss me off now, when it happens you can't move the mouse or scroll pad, and the screen becomes locked/frozen.
when it freezes it lasts for around a minute, and happens maybe twice an hour,

Update the drivers and see does that solve it. Run Windows Update is the handiest as it will probably suggest them in the Optional Updates part anyhow

Laptop or Tower? Could be an overheating issue......... or drivers as Derm has said....... or a dodgy stick of ram......... or a dodgy video card......... or various other things :lol: Would certainly try updating drivers first - if that doesnt cure it then maybe try a fresh Windows install (or a repair) to rule out a software problem.

as for the overheating, yeah i thought that could be it, but it has also happened when laptop was cool as well,

So for example if you wanted to update the drivers for your graphics card, you would want to double click on Display Adapters, select your video card, right click and select the update option.

Same goes for anything else you feel may be causing the problem.

i also had a similar problem with firefox, it was the shockwave plugin that freezed my pc when visiting a big site.

i updated all my plugins and extensions and it's now ok :ok:

the good with firefox is they release a new version every few months so if something is wrong now, it can be fixed in the next one; the bad with firefox is they release a new version every few months so if something is ok now, it can be ruined in the next one... :)

firefox is 22.0, i don't know about shockwave.

go to tool-extensions-plugins, then click on check if your plugins are up to date and the ones in red should be updated :ok:

I've got the same issue while using a laptop without line current. If the laptop goes to sleep and I want to play further the screen freezes and becomes black (the mouse still works in this case).

It doesn't matter me that much because I can still save and restart the game with a black screen :D

Think the original issue is not CM related, just general use.

But for your issue, change the Color depth on in Control Panel > Display to 16bit and CM should come back. Or run piced.exe and that should sort it too ;)

I've been playing CM0102 for over a year on a laptop with Windows 8....a few teething problems early on, but generally has been fine.

Yesterday, I updated to Windows 8.1. When I loaded the game today, everything was fine, until I came to try and make some tactical changes and substitutions during a game.

The red drag box didn't appear, and I couldn't move players, or make substitutions.

When I checked in the squad list, I wasn't able to drag and drop either.

Im really not sure what the problem is, but any help would be greatly received!

So I have this problem when I click on + or - on bids or wages it jumps from i.e: 2000 pounds to 20000 etc. Just one click and it jumps either waaaay to high or too low.

I read in a thread that I should instal flex 2.0 and put down the speed. But when I click on the "flex 2.0" bat file I get a window up where I cannot press "go" so that I cannot enter the program.

IS there any other program I can use to be able to go up and down on the wage 1000 pounds at the time?

hey guys,

just discovered this forum last week and have been giving cm01/02 a go again - loving it.

I just have a problem with changing transfer fees from the 'auto' fee since when i click + or - the amount will go up by 2m-3m every time. even with a mouse, 1 click sends it way too high.

I'm using an Asus g53, am running the program as admin, with compatibility, and i think I've installed the 3.9.68 Patch properly. If it's the last patch then maybe i should try that again but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem since I didn't find a mention of it on the forums.

To all those out there who are still bugged by the mouse clicking issue, there is a solution that doesn't require any kind of legacy hardware. Last year, when I first got back into classic CM, I had the same problem and I found a program released through a GNU public license that provides a workaround. It's called FastClicker and you can do an online search for it. Alternatively, see the link below.

It took some tinkering, but I found a good setup that seems to work. Set the 'clicks/s' to 1000 and the 'stop' to 1. Leave everything else the same. The program actually uses a keyboard key (default is value 13 [Return]) to enter mouse clicks at the current cursor location. There is a useful glitch, though. You can change the key by clicking on the assignment button and putting something else in, such as Ctrl, Alt, or Space; anything really. If you click once to activate key assignment, then click again, it assigns the key as the left mouse click (value 1). This cannot be changed again without restarting the program, but now it does we want it to do. The left mouse click inherits the settings made in the program and you can change bids and offers in the game without the value racing up and down.

I do think this program is somewhat messy. It wasn't designed for this purpose, but it's the only one like it that works this way. I have previously tried to refine it to remove a lot of the options and lock them into the code rather than the interface. I also tried cannibalising it to make a version from scratch. My aim the whole time was to make a version specifically tailored to CM. I figured you could run a batch file that launches both this program and the game simultaneously and skip the input setup stage. Given that I was trying to teach myself C++ as I went, my efforts were somewhat stifled. The original will have to do for. If anyone is interested in pursuing this project, the original source code is available online. I am also happy to contribute any information about what I already learned.

I experience an annoying issue playing version 3.9.60 in Win8. I can not in any way drag players when I want ie to substitute one for another. I have the same issue during a match as when my team is not playing in the screen where I select the team. When I click on a name and hold it, it can't be hold. It leaves the 'hold position' immediately.

I've been trying to find any information about this issue in your FAQs and so but couldn't see any related to this. I've installed this version of the game before and played it without issues so it's not corrupt or anything.

I get it sometimes as well, try minimising the screen and bringing it back up or going back on to the match screen and then back to tactics, it's annoying but it does sort itself out after a couple mins.

I documented a solution a few posts earlier. It's not ideal, but it works and you don't have to patch the game. It looks like some of the recent posters haven't been reading this thread before asking the same question over and again. It's definitely worth reviewing.

Hi guys,

I have been playing Champ Man for years and this is the first time I have ever encountered this problem.

The sensitivity of my clicking is too quick meaning I can't drag on certain occasions. It has effected my game when I try to make substitutes or drag players into training schedules I have created. Instead of allowing me to drag the player, it is too sensitive and clicks instead onto the player's information.

I haven't changed any settings regarding the actual PC, nor the game, and the problem is only on Champ Man. I do use a USB mouse on my laptop, but it happens when I use my spare USB mouse and the touchpad on the Laptop.

Any help would be highly appreciated, as it is really effecting my game experience. I can't train my players or make any substitutes! Let's hope for an injury free season or i'm stuffed!

Doesn't work for me either. I can't even drag a player to a specific training schedule. So the players I bought will have no training it all.

Looks like I found the solution for mine: use full screen. That's all I can do on Windows 10. Really sucks but that's about it. This is very inconvenient as it really means I can only play CM0102 when I feel like only being in the game. Kind of kills playing it while you do something else.

I've used the last three Tapani patches, and uninstalled and installed in all three with all three different idle settings. No luck.

I've installed my mouse in any of the other usb ports I have. No luck.

I tried that fastclicker app--no luck.

Oh yeah, I tried all that last night as a last resort. I have a touchpad and a touchscreen so I tried deactivating both, tried again all the possible configuration for the three patches, nothing. I'm here stuck playing FM08 like an idiot :/

Well known problem when using Tapani patches as it speeds the game up. The only solution I found is to plug mouse to PS2 port on PC. Unfortunately when you're on laptop that option is not possible, so... You must suffer through it :P.

Yeah it should. If you;re on Win 7/8 or 10 it's the polling rate issue causing the issue. The PC is too fast for CM...

got this problem and it seems nothing can fix it :(, update the game to the latest patch and then apply a tapani patch and get errors about belgium leagues being missing so cant even start a new game before it crashes, tried 3 different tapani patches and all have errors that stop me starting a new game so no idea what to do

sorry for confusion i never install them on top of each other its always a clean install, always install the game, patch it up with si games patch then do a tapani patch and always the same problem so no idea whats going on

Sounds like you have downloaded a league patch with replaces Belgium, if that's the case you don't need a Tapani patch as it's already patched.

no idea i update the game with the si patch and then update with the latest tapani patch and cant start a new game because of that error the game just crashes, tried the last 2 tapani patches 2,21,1 gives that error and 2.19 gives a different error can start a new game but nothing fixes the mouse sensitivity getting the feeling i might have to give up on this game :(

Hi all, I am a huge fan of CM and have recently uploaded it after far too long away from the game and have also added the October 2016 update, all is fine but for some reason my mouse wont make changes, if I want to make a sub or change tactics such as dragging a player on the pitch then it just clicks on the player instead of letting me hold down and drag to make a sub etc, I hope this makes sense. I have tried with and without the mouse and get the same problem, has anyone else encountered this and does anyone have any suggestions? (ps - I have tried more than one mouse!)

Happened to me as well for a while. It's annoying.

The only solution I found is minimising the game and open another program and do something else. When you come back to the game after a minute or so it usually works again. The problem has gone away again for me after a while.

As above, the only way I've found to get around it is to leave it for a min or so or minimise the screen and bring it back up.

You need to buy a computer from around 2000. Modern processor speeds are just too fast for a game written 17 years ago. Not much that can be done about it I'm afraid.

Windows 10 did some kind of update yesterday and when I came to play last night, I can no longer drag and drop.

Which means I can't pick the team in the normal way, choose squad numbers. Those are not too bad though as there are (quite annoying) workarounds.

The worst one is I can't find a way to make subs in the game. If I can't drag the player off, I'm screwed.

Anyone come across this before? Any solutions?

If not try this with the substitutions. I tried it with my mouse and I think you can also do it with your laptop's trackpad.

I pressed and holded the left click of my mouse on the player I want to come in/out, then I pressed the "Alt" key, then release left click and, finally, left click on the player I want to come out/in.

Strangely enough if you put it to full screen mode instead of windowed, the drag and drop is working...hmmmm

what screen res do u have the game at ebz? mine is 1280 x 800

EDIT: ebfatz/niko I solved it by going to windows update in settings and there were 2 updates that had failed during the "creators update". I clicked "retry" and they downloaded and installed and then restarted the computer. I loaded up champ and its back to normal :D The Update info is here (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4051963/windows-10-update-kb4051963) it should download automatically thru Windows.

It happened to me for a while. The only solution I found was doing something else on my computer for awhile like opening and closing programs and then the mouse would work again.

I also have this problem can not replace injured players. But when I changed the screen mode from windowed to full, it works as it should when you are back again to windowed the problem will come again

Hi guys, Not sure if this is correct section for my issue, But When i am bidding on a player, or making changes to a contract, I use the + and - button on screen tapping on them with my mouse, But the speed at which they increase and decrease is too quick. I can't get a precise number etc.
I was told to download the Tapani patch 2.21 to fix this, But to no avail.
Can anyone help at all ?

Running windows 10. Downloaded game. Added 68 & Tapani 2.21. Games loads & runs but I can't drag & drop anything. This is true for both the mouse and track pad which work fine outside of game window. Obviously this makes substitutions, setting captain, movement arrows etc. impossible. Any ideas?

When opening tactics / team formation, I can not use the mouse to 'drag' the players to other positions and / or change their movement (front-back-side).

This in half-screen mode, in full-screen mode I can do these actions.

Hi, I am new to this. I am an old player of CM 01/02. I have downloaded and got the game running. However I can not make subs. It will not allow me to drag players to change them. It just opens up the players screen when I try to hold and drag. I have had this problem on various laptops and PCs. I have now installed it on an old PC windows 7 32 bit. I am running it in admin mode. I have changed compatibility to XP service pack 3. I have tried running in older compatibility modes still does not work. I am running latest official update. I was unable to drag and drop and discovered an app in my system tray was causing the issue.

Try closing unnecessary programs one by one to see if there's a conflict.

In my case it was a system monitoring app called Speccy.

In the tactics view I can't drag players about. When I click and hold the mouse, the players don't move at all.

I've read about some people having mice that are too fast causing value increments to move to fast. This doesn't happen for me but I wonder if it's somehow related?

I don't appear to be able to right click my players and draw lines to adjust the formation and tell them what to do.

Have tried in both full screen and Windowed mode. Windowed mode btw is a tiny window which is another issue in itself

Not sure if this is a bug, or if anyone has seen this before, or if i need a patch....but any time mid-game, i select my 'tactics', i cannot make any subs. The button make subs is missing. All i can do is select 'cancel' or 'ok'.

I had that problem, too (also with Windows 10)

I found that leaving the game running but doing something else for a bit (like opening Word or something and typing some text, or reading my email) would often help. When I'd get back to the game I could drag players around.

Eventually the problem disappeared.

Have you tried using the right click? That works for me with regards to with/without ball

Not sure if this is mentioned before, but I’m running the game on windows 10, and when trying to change amounts when bidding etc, the numbers skip like I’m constantly clicking. Any way to slow this down? Hard to up a bid by a small amount!!
