My mates have just booked Amsterdam for the week before Christmas for a 21st birthday. Gutted that I can't go as I haven't the spare cash these days. Would love to go though, it's been 5 years since we last went there so it would have been great to see the same crowd going back five years on.

No hols for me for a while. I can afford it but the mrs is being stubborn and won't let me pay (good thing also)

Got my sister and kids etc over at chrimbo from Singapore and next July I've got my best mate and former team mates coming over from oz for the ashes.

May take the mrs to Lille for a long weekend for Christmas with the markets etc.

All I have coming up us a weekend in Birmingham lol

My mate separated with his wife so I'm going up to sort him out and get his mind of it. Any decent bars with music etc.

Not club scene though as we are both past that, live music preferred.

To be fair, you can pick anywhere in Dorset and it'll be nice. New Forest is down that way of course. I was in Wimborne which is between Bournemouth and Poole. And near Sandbanks and the beach there. Quite plush. Harry Redknapp lives there.

After going to Rome last year, we've decided on a quiet one for this year and hopefully go somewhere similar again next year. So it's just a trip to Cornwall for this Summer to Padstow with her family. Quite fortunate really we don't have to pay anything towards the rent for the week even though I have offered.

Also, after going to Eindhoven last year for my cousin's birthday, I'll be heading to Hamburg this year for my mate's stag do :ok:

Planning a massive one this year!

My best mate moved to Chicago with work last year so we're planning a family holiday over there to visit!
He can put us up, but flights are still expensive. However, we've recently realised that Easter flights are much cheaper than going in the summer, and we're available! Holiday has just got brought forward!

Total flight cost is approx £1000 cheaper (for 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant) at Easter than in the summer holidays!:plane:

Should be away just in time for the DTL haggle/auctions :(

I've heard Berlin is great AJ.

Off for a weeks golf in Florida/Miami in May with the lads - that is going to be phenomenal!

Giving Besiktas a miss with Pool in Europa League but if we can get through that I may go to the next away trip if it's in a sunny spot!

Taking the missus and my Mum to Ireland (Galway to Cork and places in between) for a few days in June.

Finally - Need to take advantage of some family living in Vietnam as well and maybe look to travel around there before any sprogs restrict holidays!

If you have the time take the coast road from Galway to Limerick through Clare, the Burren and Cliffs of Moher are pretty spectacular.

And if you have even more time head to Tralee or Killarney from Limerick and again take drive the Ring of Kerry (there's the Ring of Bere and one other but wouldn't bother with them if you done the other 2 drives)

Any recommendations in which towns to stay would be helpful if you know?

I hope the renovations of the Trevi Fountain is completed by the time you go there then. My missus was absolutely gutted that it was all borded off although you could still walk across it via a ramp but it's not the same, nor can you do the flicking of a coin into the water as is tradition.

The fountain at the bottom of the Spanish Steps was also barricaded off :(

Cheers Dermo - looks a pretty good trip then from the below map of places you mentioned. Which of those would be best to stay for a night? We are in Galway on the Thursday night when we land, and then we have Friday/Saturday and Sunday nights free to stay wherever. Monday -- fly back from Cork

Any recommendations in which towns to stay would be helpful if you know?

You can see a good bit of the Burren if you take the coast road from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher, it's pretty much all around you so there's no real need to go into the middle of it. It's an option but you are taking about roads not much wider than 1 lorry, that's both lanes :D There's a lot to do in Clare (the Aillwee caves are fairly disappointing, dont bother with them), maybe consider the Friday there and drive to Killarney in the evening. Limerick is ok but not a lot to see imo, more of a place to go on a tear. You don't need go into Tralee like on your map shows.

Stay in Killarney go to Kenmare via Cahersiveen and I'd recommend staying in Kenmare. That will brings you around the Ring of Kerry. Fairly touristy so plenty of places to eat and things to do. It's about 2 hour drive there's plenty of places to stop and visit to make a day of it. It's not far from Cork if you prefer to stay there instead.

It's a fairly straight forward spin from Kenmare to Cork via Macroom. Most places are open Sundays in Cork so if you want to do a bit of shopping before leaving there'll be plenty of places around the main street to buy stuff and get a bit to eat. If you are there Saturday evening book The Market for dinner, absolutely ace.

Erk lives in Galway so he might have more tips for ya

I'm going to Turkey to clear out my parent's house that has been sold since my mom died. Still, should be fun two weeks with my kids.

Still looking for a nice citytrip with the missus. Last year we did Valencia, absolute fucking blast. Wonderful city. Anyone got tips?

Sorry to hear that Aj.

Where is the house?

Thanks Derm - will look to put a plan around some of the things you said

I've been told these places are quite nice - thoughts?

"Bantry and Dingle bay and peninsula are beautiful, as are the Kilarney lakes"

They are mate you might not have time to get around them all in the time frame you have. Distance for those roads is deceptive - like it might say Tralee to Dingle is 12 miles and 15 minutes but in reality its double that between time and road condition. Yeah it has improved but you'll understand what I mean when you get there (most of the West coast is similar in terms of the road network). You can go from Kenmare > Bantry > Cork either, no real difference.

small village called Guzelcamli, 50 minute drive from Kusadasi. Quite lovely, although they've build a boulevard and are spawning hotels like all hell's about to visit.

Anybody here been to Dubrovnik?

Just booked 7 days in july and would love to hear some tips if anybody has any.

Old town and Lokrum seem to be a must, and will probably make a trip up Srd as well.

Yes - went on a 3 week trip to Croatia in 2004 (Euros for 3 weeks every night drinking and eating - brilliant!)

Dubrovnik back then was just starting to get "touristy" but was a beautiful place, lovely side street restaurants, walking around City Wall, some good bars/clubs, but sad to see the bullet torn buildings

However, I would thoroughly recommend seeing the islands like Bol, Brac, Rab, Hvar, Korcula, Mijet etc - that was amazing. Spent over a week doing that which was superb - was there when Croatia went 2 up on England (sadly England won in the end)

One of the best holidays I had was travelling Croatia but as I say that was 10 years ago so not sure how much has changed now

No more holidays for me this year after going to Lanzarote in March. Could possibly be going to France next month if the missus gets tickets sorted out.

All about next year, I think. Planning a city holiday and another trip to Cornwall with the gf's family.

Been to Lanzarote back in March for a cheap beach holiday, a bit windy but had a nice break. GF then took me to Paris for my 30th last month. We didn't watch any games but I did have fun watching Portugal v Hungary in the Eiffel Tower fan park.

Off to Hamburg in a few weeks time for the weekend - Stoke playing HSV in a friendly which should be a good laugh. No more holidays after that until next year though.

Scorching! I'm just home from a week in Padstow with the missus and her family which was bliss, first day was roasting on the beach (even did an 8 mile run whilst the others sunbathed :D). Only had 1 day of rain really so we managed to fit in 5 days on the beach. Just what I needed to relax away from it all :ok:

Back to work on Monday but off to the Lake District next week for 4 days :) Then will be going back down to Padstow with the GF and her family again in August.

Just UK holidays this year for us - We're saving up cash to go to New York next year for our 5 year anniversary.
