    Multiple Installs

    Hi guys,
I had raised this question before but wasn't able to correctly articulate the problem, Patinoz did give me hope yesterday that it can be sorted but I could find the exact way to sort it out.

Basically I now have 3 installations of champ on my PC, one for 2.19 patch one for 3.12 patch and one for 3.9.68 patch for the Big Red Game.

The problem is that when I play, for example my long term save in the 2.19 game then finish with that and save it up, then say I want to join the Big Red game and play unpatched, what happens is that the game will use the peripheral files in champman (for example Pictures folder, Menubars Folder, ~net file for networking etc etc) of the previous version of the game that I had been playing, in this case the 2.19 patch. This even includes the save game directory, and I have to manually type in the directories each time I switch installs to get to the appropriate saves.

This may not seem like a big deal but it has pissed me off for about a year now and it would be good if it were possible to just order each install to mind it's own business and use it's own files.

    Any Ideas?

Well if your installs look something like this & you just rename it to 0102 when you want to use it & rename the other one to seomething else then what you describe should not happen.

    Yeah mine look like Cam's.

Don't have any issues so might have something to do with going 2.19 to 3.12 or patched to unpatched.

my original install: c:\championship manager 01-02 (2.19 patch)
    2nd install: C:\champman3.12 (3.12 patch)
    3rd install C:\Program files\unpatched version

after playing 3.12 this morning i loaded up the 2.19 version for networking, which used the ~net file from the 3rd install (unpatched)

it may be a chronological issue ie. the latest install is the one who's files are used....

whichever files are in the 0102 one listed as 0102 is the files that will load.

That's why some of mine don't have pictures & some don't have patches installed.

yeah but if that were true it would have loaded the ~net file that allowed me to play (5.118.70.49 as the ip address)

it didn't, the ip address was the standard 192.168.0.1 which only existed in the 3rd install (unpatched)

it's a mind melter for sure

When I'm playing and i want to start a new game on a different db, how do I go about doing this? For example, if I'm playing on the march update and i want to start a new game on the odb, when i go into the odb folder, go into cm and start a new game, it still loads the squads from the march update. Anyone know a way around this?

Just copy data files and start a new game?

Then the old saved game still seems to work off old files (no idea how but I'm sure it's always done that for me?)

I get what you're saying, but I already have the other db's installed. Its just when I click into whatever db I want to start and go into cm, it still loads the wrong squads

You need to make one folder active - so one have to be Championship Manager 01-02 and the one you are NOT playing called Championship Manager 01-02March2014 or whatever

Basically what ebz has done in post #3

The folder titled Championship Manager 01-02 will always be the active folder

The one with the march data is called march2014 on mine, which would mean the active one is the one with the original data, yet when I start a new game, it loads the march data.

Is it that issue with the AppData folder then? Have never been able to get CM to load any files in there to test it but could be worth clearing it out.

Right, i deleted all the cm stuff in appdata, as well as deleting the cm0102 folder in program files, so i installed the game again. Seems to be working now. Thanks for the help guys

Install one, rename the CM folder. Install again, rename. Repeat.

Possible to Run Original and New Data?

    Hi

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, but I wanted to know if its possible to run both the original database and the new one on 1 CM 01/02 game? I tried downloading a 2nd CM 01/02 and it points to the new data. I am using the no disc method (where you use DAEMON Tools)

    Thanks

    Ahmed

Read the post above yours for the Multiple installs question

Right click on both cm0102.exe and cm0102ed.exe and tick Run As Administrator then copy the files again http://www.champman0102.co.uk/showthread.php?t=3863

For multiple installs, I have to install the game, then rename folder, and install game again, or can I just copy and paste files from original installation in other folders?

Then, use folder named "Championship manager 01-02" to play .... ??

You can but it kind of defeats the purpose of multiple installs. The data would need to be the same though e.g. v3.9.68 to v3.9.68, not T3.9.68 to v3.9.68 where T3.9.68 indicates a Tapani patch has been applied (or is a tapanified 3.xx database)

    Thank you.
So...if I want to play with one folder with game no-tapani patched and a game tapani patched I have to install game, then rename folder, then re-install game?
