LEICESTER CITY IN TIGHT PROMOTION BATTLE AS SEASON HITS MIDWAY POINT

City currently lie in 3rd place. Level on points but behind Brentford who occupy the 2nd automatic promotion place.
They are also just 2 points behind Fulham in top spot but both those sides have a game in hand on City.
Cardiff City in 7th place and outside the playoff's are just 3 points further back making it incredibly tight at the top.

Young Striker Gary Lineker has been dropped from the starting line up.
He started in all the first 8 League games. But has since started just 5 of the following 15 games.
He has also come off the bench 4 times but has not registered a goal in those 9 appearances.
If Leicester are to win promotion they need Lineker playing to his potential when given a chance.

They need him. 30 goals in 23 for the club this season. A lot of those 13 wins must be 1-0's!

Leicester City Push on in Hunt for Promotion

Leicester City have moved up into 2nd place in the Championship.
With 12 games to go they'll hope for a better finish that last season.
Then they picked up 13 points from the last 11 games to fall 1 point short.
They are only 1 point behind Fulham in top spot and are 5 ahead of Brentford in 3rd.
Young Striker Gary Lineker has made 8 League appearances in the last 11 games.
5 starts and 3 coming from the bench scoring 4 goals.
If he keeps this form up he'll get the regular start he craves.

LEICESTER CITY FAIL TO SEAL AUTOMATIC PROMOTION AGAIN

Despite being 5 points clear with 12 games to go. Leicester City have again failed to clinch Promotion.
Instead they fell 7 points behind Cardiff to allow them and Fulham the Automatic Spots to the Premier League.
In a similar vein to last season, Leicester City won just 3 of their final 11 games.
Drawing and losing 4 each to pick up 13 points.
Whilst they had the best defence in the league, they scored the lowest number of goals in the championship.
Scoring just 56 in 46 league games.
Young Striker Gary Lineker was restored to the line up for the final 10 games of the season scoring 4 goals.
But this wasn't enough as Leicester City again have to settle for the lottery of the playoffs.

Lineker Hat-trick See's off Southampton in Playoff Semi Final

A Gary Lineker inspired Leicester City saw off Southampton this evening in the Playoff Semi Final.
They will now face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Final next weekend.
After a tight 0-0 first leg, Lineker was the difference as Leicester ran out 3-0 winners on the night.
It was a stunning performance by Lineker who will cherish his first hat-trick in the professional game
after sealing his hat-trick with the final kick of the game.
It came at a time when some members of the club's hierarchy were unsure if Lineker was good enough to cut it at this level.
If Leicester City can perform again next week he may have to raise his level even further in the Premier League next season.

Leicester City seal Premier League return after 5 goal thriller in Playoff Final with Brighton

Leicester City have made up last season's disappointment at Wembley after this time winning a 5 goal game with Brighton.
It was anything but plain sailing for Leicester City despite taking the lead in the 2nd minute.
Gary Lineker carrying on where he left on in the Semi Final by scoring the opener.
But Brighton fought back and were soon 2-1 up and looking to break Leicester hearts again.
Leicester were awarded a Penalty before half time to make it 2-2.
Ben Marshall scored the decisive 5th goal in the 2nd half as Leicester City held onto their nerve and the win.

    LINEKER VALUE RISING

After 4 goals in his last 2 games, including a hat-trick in the Semi Final Playoff, Leicester City fans have said they believe Gary Lineker can fire the goals to keep Leicester up in the Premier League next season.
Lineker is still young at 19 years old and it's immense pressure to put on the young lad's shoulders.
He had an on off season in the Championship.
He started the season with indifferent form scoring 2 goals in 8 league games.
And was dropped for a while and made appearances from the bench and didn't get a run in the side.
But towards the end of the season he was favoured again and finished the season with 8 goals in his last 13 games.
This gave him an overall league record of 14 goals in 38 appearances.
More of that will be needed if Leicester City are to survive in the Premier League.

That's a mean defence Leicester had there.
Just 5 conceded in the last 11 games of the season.

Bet it's not that tight next season!

Young Leicester City Striker Gary Lineker Stars for England Under 21 side

Gary Lineker has made a blistering start to his England Under 21 Career.
On his debut for the National Under 21 side Lineker scored 2 goals against Estonia as Connor Wickham scored a brace as well to complete a 4-1 win.
In Lineker's 2nd game, he went one better scoring a hat-trick away at Northern Ireland in a 5-2 rout.
And to cap it off, his 3rd game for the Under 21's finished in a 4-2 win over arch rivals Scotland at Old Trafford as Lineker again bagged a hat-trick and the match ball.
As Lineker approaches his 20th birthday a few more performances like this and he'll surely be getting called up to the main squad.

Leicester City in Bottom 3 Without a Win After 9 Games

After 9 Premier League Games Leicester City are in the Relegation Zone.
They have actually only lost 2 games. But with 7 draws they have not managed to record a victory yet on their return to the top flight.
The defence is pretty tight with just 8 goals conceded but at the other end just 6 goals have gone in.
It is early days and City also have a game in hand on some teams around them.
Leicester City started the season with 4 straight draws, but with 3 of those games at home they were hoping for at least one set of 3 points.
But their only defeats this season were away to Newcastle and Man City and both of those finished 1-0.
So this paper believes they'll get out of trouble once the team find their scoring boots having scoring in just 4 of the 9 league games.
Young Striker Gary Lineker has scored 2 league goals and has started in all 9 games. But is being replaced often very early in the 2nd half in most games and so is not looking his best.

Serves him right for that hat-trick in the U21 game

I expect he will come good and score regularly for a run of games.

Leicester City Still in Bottom Three as League heads into 2nd Half

After 19 Premier League Games Leicester City are still in the Relegation Zone.
They have managed to win just 1 game in 19.
They have actually only lost 6 games. But with 12 draws they have just 15 points from 57 available.
The defence is extremely solid but this is down to the unadventurous style of play.
Leicester City have conceded just 16 goals. The 4th best in the Division.
But their problems are at the other end, having scored just 10 goals in 19 games.
If this rate doesn't improve then Leicester City will be relegated back to the Championship after 1 season in the Division.
Leicester City's one win was at Home against QPR who are the only side below them.
But that was 9 games ago. Since then they have lost 4 and drawn 5 games.
Some Leicester fans are blaming the Management who appear to have the strikers running away from goal.
But some are pointing the fingers squarely at the strikers, who need to score more.
Gary Lineker has just 4 goals in 19 games. But that is 40% of the teams total.

Draw Specialists Leicester City Out of Bottom 3

With just 9 games to go Leicester City are out of the Relegation Zone.
They have been improving of late.
In the last 10 matches they have won 3, Drawn 5 and lost just 2.
This form has seen them rise up to 15th in the table and now lie 5 points clear of the relegation zone.
If this recent form continues there is no way City will be drawn back into the relegation dog fight.
But Leicester somehow managed to score just 7 goals in the last 10 games but conceded just 6 goals.
They are currently on a 5 match unbeaten run.
Gary Lineker scored 2 goals to take his league tally to 6. He'll be hoping to add several more before the end of the season to give himself a respectable tally for his first season in the top flight.

Leicester City dragged back into Relegation Battle

Leicester City have lost 4 out of 5 games to drop towards the relegation trap door.
Luckily there was one win in that run otherwise they would find themselves in the Drop zone with just 4 games to go.
But as it stands they are in 15th place, just 2 points above Q.P.R in 18th.
In this bad run they scored 2 goals and conceded 10 goals.
It started with a 3-1 away defeat to Everton ending their 5 game unbeaten run.
It was followed up by 3-0 defeats at Home to Arsenal and Away to Man Utd.
And the worst result was a 1-0 home defeat to West Ham, a side just below Leicester City with a game in hand.
But luckily City managed a 1-0 win away at Sunderland in a 6 Pointer in mid-week to give themselves hope.
Sunderland remain in the bottom three.
In the final 4 games of the season, Leicester have 3 games at home.
There they play Stoke, West Brom and Liverpool with one away match at Bolton.

Leicester City Avoid Relegation With 7 Points From Last 4 Games.

    Leicester City celebrate staying up

Leicester City won 2 and Drew 1 of their last 4 games to retain their Premier League status for another season.
They followed up their vital win at Sunderland with a 1-0 home win over Stoke City in another 6 pointer.
They then went and drew 0-0 at Bolton to go within a win of Safety.
And they achieved that win with a 2-0 home win over West Brom at home.
It didnt matter anyway as each side in the bottom 3 failed to win and Leicester City were safe.
So it was a party atmosphere in the final game, a 1-0 defeat at Anfield against Liverpool.
Leicester finished the 38 game season scoring just 22 goals. The worst by far in the league with Stoke next scoring 36.
But they had the 3rd best defence in the league conceding just 33 goals.

Young Striker Gary Lineker will take pride in his first season at this level.
The young forward playing in a very defensive side scored 9 league goals.
He didn't stand out and will hope to play better next season in the league.
But his early season form for the England Under 21 side shows that he has ability.

Lineker scored 9 League Goals this season

Survived with less than the golden 40 points !

That defense is awesome, but maybe Leicester need a new striker for next season

ok well at the half-way update it looked like a repeat of real life, the team were heading down and although new lineker was a regular he hadn't scored many.
I had them as a dead cert to go down, and repeat history, but they didn't!

IRL Lineker was not used much this season
    P10 G8
    New Lineker (Linewker?)
    P42 G10

Real Lineker seems to have never made an U21 appearance either.

And yes. He never played for the Under 21's.

One Win in Seven Games Not Good Enough for Leicester City

Leicester City are again struggling down at the wrong end of the table.
They are only out of the bottom 3 by 1 point, but 2 sides below them have games in hand.
It is a worrying start for Leicester who flirted with relegation all last season.
They have one won and lost 5 of the opening 7 games.
They have tried to invest in the summer but the defence doesn't seem as solid as last season.
And the attack are struggling again with just 3 goals in the first 7 games.
Young England Under-21 Striker Gary Lineker has 2 of these goals, but isn't playing to his best.
But again, the manager's tactics are lacking.
The poor start to the season also includes going out of the League Cup on Penalties to Hartlepool of the 3rd tier.
