well, if ever there was a case of "sorry, youre porcupine has run out of quills", this would be it...
needless to say, I'm very drunk and very very happy right now...
cheers to all you Irish folks - you are festive fans
and cheers for the next world cup - lets hope it turns in to a celebration of creativity and "adventurousness"

Eriksen's finishing was great but we gave them all 5 goals. Never seen us defend as bad.

Thought the decision to remove both holding midfielders at half time made no sense.

Chance for you to resurrect the Nations Cup now Derm and defend that title

Talk of America getting a few teams over for a tournament, saw Italy, Holland Chile mentioned.

    I see Whelan didn't start

Must admit it was refreshing to see different faces in the England set-up this week. But half of them will disappear as soon as the main players recover from 'injuries' again.

I would imagine Whelan's Ireland career must be nearly over given that he didn't start in either leg, and that we have players in that position anyway. I think it could also be the end for O'Shea and Hoolahan.

No complaints about the result though, without a doubt the better and more exciting team won, and they will probably be more interesting in the finals than we would've been.

I agree with Dermo, the substitutions were bizarre in not leaving someone in the middle to break up. And bringing McGeady on . The goals were really, really soft, but you can't deny Eriksen is a class act.

Hmmmmmm - i'm not so sure - Southgate seems quite bullish in playing whoever is in form and who best suits the game/system he wants - quite refreshing IMO

True but consider how many were missing through injury. I can see most of them being back in next time round. Time will tell!

Maybe - but he's booted out the likes of Sturridge/Oxlade Chambo

Maybe he's following the Mark Henderson thoery from his England story

I think I kept under 21's out of the seniors though. Maybe I made a mistake there!

Was really hoping for a NZ surprise since it would have put Denmark into 2nd seeding and not 3rd but oh well...
