On the testing front, pacing myself to avoid burnout. The update will be out when it's out. Besides, the tactic I submitted has also gone untested, which means I can't say what's done and not done definitively.

Faz44, is your spreadsheet available for download, like the 2012 was?

I have an incoming dream patch from djole which also needs testing so I'll see what I can do this evening.

I'll add it to the list. I'm going to try and finish what's on my list and I'll move my tactic to a new post as nobody has got around to doing it.

Get the relevant Tapani patch (I use 2.18 for tactic testing) and then when you patch your executable, you tick Development Mode. I've never been able to get it work properly without crashing but my computer is pretty shitty.

    UPDATE 2: 26/11/2014

Nine tactics have been tested/retested since the last update. Everything up to post #37 is included. This is the list of their results:

When you test a lot of tactics, you think you've seen it all. Those tactics which gatecrash the top 10 have utterly spectacular 90+ point seasons and then fade under one too many sub-80 point ones. This makes it utterly surprising that we have a new entry that breaks all the rules. Vik's new take on 4411 Ailton just seemed to find a way to win and didn't once break the 90 point mark. So congratulations, ViK, you've broken the monopoly, welcome to the Top 10.

At one point, I thought it would be joined by Chaos' 4-3-3 Forever after an absolutely stonking 91 point season to open. However, at this point, all it takes is a few dodgy seasons and you go from top 5 contender to top 20 contender. Still, a fantastic tactic. Further down, we saw excellent performances from the scemoka's high-scoring brazen, which got a creditable 77.5, closely followed by bahamontes' 11-361 with 76.9. The latter proved a favourite of mine with its "USA at France '98" 3-1-4-1-1 overview.

Jesus' tastefully-named Crucify will satisfy those who want to go a little Ossie Ardiles at Spurs though its defence was easily the leakiest in this round of testing and it did well to come in with 65.8. Desp's "Cage of El Cholo" just didn't seem to score enough to turn the losses to draws and draws into wins and finished on 65.6. Baz's Sheepy suffered similarly but would still probably take your Man City side to the double on the October 2014 update. The standard is that high, even down at that level.

On the classic tactic front, Lone Gunman was given the OTL treatment and proved a solid, upper-midtable tactic. However, 59.8 means it was outperformed by last month's entry 4132Pool, which proves that the wrong kind of wib-wobbing is worse than not wib-wobbing at all.

alanshearer's 4-3-3_Tinker1 returns to the OTL fold after its owner provided me with a copy to retest, which cuts the retesting list to just two (though more likely just one). It's a wonderfully, wildly-inconsistent tactic that can win you the league or make you miss out on the UEFA Cup spots. It averaged out at 74.1 and gained around 40 places.

Opening post will be updated by Wednesday evening.

I am attending a teacher training bootcamp from the 1st to the 12th of December so I won't be testing any more tactics until mid-December at the earliest. Anything posted after this post should be considered untested until otherwise stated, unless board members want to step up and do some of the testing before that time *hint hint*. I'll periodically collate anything that's posted.

As it went untested before the last update, I am resubmitting my tactic Sketches of Spain v0.2 for somebody else to test.

Massive thanks Faz Surprised it did that well. I knew it was solid as I had played many seasons with it, all the while developing the team around the formation. I had chosen to modify that one as it was such a solid tactic but not attacking enough. So plenty of credit to Ailton for the original defensive base.

I'm a big lover of stats so thanks again for the time and effort you put into all this

Great work Faz. I didn't expect my tactic to do well because it's rather unique having five up top but still glad to see it tested.

    Nice thread!

Anybody know where I can find number 401 "4-3-2-1 MOURINHO PLAY" by cabe0002? It has the lowest conceding in all the ranking (a bit of an obsession of mine!)

Edit: found it! Wonder if I can make it even better. I was able to get lower conceding averages on Norge and UTLCFv2 (the second lowest conceding tactics) but only at a big drop in points average...

Hey guys, back from my teacher training course. Post 1 is now properly updated with the full league table as well as the spreadsheet, I just ran out of time to do it before I had to start the course.

Zion: Downloaded your tactic and will get to it soon.

Hope your tactic will be over Cam F's 433Idione. Tell the truth, 433 of Cam F is much more interesting than Desp's.

A quick test shows that 433 Evolution scores >70 but <80

Here are two tactics to test for you; they should score just over 80 points, I think.

    (1) SamsamiCF (my favourite tactic with the team I use, based on a tactic I found somewhere but I changed almost everything)
    (2) iodineDiamond (I made this based on iodineCF because I wanted to have a solid 4-4-2 Diamond tactic)

"I need passing" should be tested here. It's one of the new threads in "Tactics". I've tested it a bit and it works really well.
