I went to see Lego Batman for my son's birthday today.
It was quite good. Highly recommended if you're eight years old and you love Lego and Batman.
Was still worth a watch if you're 30 years old, not that bothered about Lego but still secretly love Batman.

I watched the US version (about 20-30 minutes longer) of The Shining for the first time today. The "new" scenes did actually contribute with some more depth to the story about the family and explained some things that was left out in the cut. Still a brilliant movie after all these years!

Watched Despicable Me 3 with the kids yesterday. Was actually quite funny, loved the 80's villain. if you liked the first 2, you will like this one.

Pretty sure the missus will make us watch that at some point

Been a while since I last posted, here's what we've watched in the past 2 months:

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - 7/10.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - 8/10.
    Thor - 7/10.
    Taken - 10/10.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - 6/10.
    Eat Pray Love - 3/10.
    Cinderella (2015) - 6/10.
Captain America: The First Avenger - 7/10.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - 8/10.
    The Green Mile - 10/10.
    The Lovely Bones - 4/10.
    V for Vendetta - 6/10.
    Nine - 5/10.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - 3/10.
    World War Z - 7/10.
    Titanic - 9/10.
    Hostage - 6/10.
    Avengers Assemble - 9/10.
    Pretty Woman - 7/10.
    American History X - 8/10.
Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates - 5/10.
    The Amazing Spider-Man - 7/10.

Enjoyed watching American History X for the first time although some scenes were very tough/cringeworthy! Also watched the Amazing Spider-Man for the first time and found it was better than the Tobey Maguire version. Some awful films picked by the GF though

The Big Short - great film about the financial crisis. Superb cast and a surprisingly engaging story despite its heavy subject... guess it helps having Margot Robbie naked in a bubblebath drinking champagne and talking about mortgage bonds

IT - Enjoyed the remake, thought Skarsgard played Pennywise quite well.

Flatliners - Worth a watch was very different, bit of a crap ending though as it was starting to get good!

    WALL·E - 7/10.
    Addicted to Love - 3/10.
Logan - 8/10. Really, really enjoyed this one. Took me a while to get my head around the time shift but thought it was great to see a dark aspect to Wolverine and Professor X.
Lady and the Tramp - 6/10.
    Doctor Strange - 6/10.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - 6/10.
    X-Men: First Class - 7/10.
    X-Men: Apocalypse - 7/10.
Gone Girl - 9/10. WHAT A FILM! The woman in this is an absolute psychopath!
Goodfellas - 7/10. Good film but was quite disappointed with the ending.
Captain America: Civil War - 9/10. The new choice for Spiderman was inspired!
    Hot Pursuit - 5/10.
    Kill Bill: Vol. 2 - 8/10.
    Clueless - 6/10.
    Peter Pan - 7/10.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall - 8/10. Forgot how funny this is!
    Bad Teacher - 5/10.
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 - 7/10. The ridiculously long fight scene at the end (before facing the woman at the end) ruined it for me.
    Sleeping Beauty - 6/10.
    Cinderella - 6/10.
Beauty and the Beast - 6/10.
Fantastic Four - 5/10. What was the point in remaking this?
50 First Dates - 8/10. Proper Sandler film, links up well with Drew Barrymore.
    Braveheart - 8/10.
    Marley & Me - 9/10.
    Jaws 2 - 5/10.
    Terminator Salvation - 6/10.
    High School Musical - 6/10.
    Grease 2 - 2/10.
    Grease - 8/10.
    Gone Baby Gone - 7/10.
    Ant-Man - 7/10.
    Hitch - 7/10.
Léon - 6/10. Supposed to be a classic but it was a bit creepy in parts.
    Overboard - 5/10.
Avengers: Age of Ultron - 7/10.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - 6/10.
    Terminator Genisys - 6/10.
    The Wedding Ringer - 6/10.
    Coraline - 2/10.
    Sing - 6/10.
    X-Men: Days of Future Past - 6/10.
Father of the Bride Part II - 6/10.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - 5/10.
    Deep Blue Sea - 4/10.
    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - 7/10.
    Hot Fuzz - 7/10.
    The Usual Suspects - 7/10.
Kingsman: The Secret Service - 9/10. Excellent film, looking forwards to watching the new one.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 8/10.

Bloody hell, we have watched a few films since August

I found WALL-E extremely boring the first time I ever watched it but did pay more attention to the detail this time around and gave it a better rating

You can tell that the cold nights are creeping in and that I'm currently on a mission to save money - More nights indoors and more films watched!

Grown Ups - 7/10 - Pure Adam Sandler/Kevin James comedy, enjoyed it!
The Heat - 6/10 - Usual Melissa McCarthy shouty/swearing stuff while Sandra Bullock plays the awkward part.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - 8/10 - Grown up on Harry Potter books and watched this after reading the screenplay. Excellent watch and honestly didn't realise it was Jonny Depp at the very end! Looking forwards to the other films coming out.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 - 7/10 - This is worth a watch but nowhere near as good as the first one. Simply tries too hard to be funny.
Batman: The Movie - 7/10 - Oh yes, started watching the DC films and this one came first, a classic from 1966 that even had Micky from Rocky as the Penguin
Bambi - 5/10 - Sighs, missus on a Disney film binge at the moment.
Superman - 5/10 - I don't know what it is about the Christopher Reeves' Superman films but I just don't enjoy them.
17 Again - 5/10 - Basically the storyline of Freaky Friday but with men.
Superman II - 5/10 - See the first movie.
Treasure Planet - 5/10 - Fell asleep watching this, boring.
Swamp Thing - 4/10 - The reason I didn't give it any lower is because it was laughably terrible.
101 Dalmatians (1961) - 7/10 - The cartoon version, didn't actually mind watching this given that I used to watch the TV series in primary school
    Superman III - 4/10 - They're getting worse!
Supergirl - 4/10 - Oh my days, a new film about Superman's cousin. Poor!
Annie (1982) - 4/10 - I actually don't mind musicals but this was not my cup of tea!
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace - 3/10 - They are still getting even worse! Thankfully it's the last one.
Zombieland - 8/10 - Solid movie about a zombie apocalypse, watched it with Halloween coming up. Enjoyable comedy!
The Return of Swamp Thing - 3/10 - That's all I'm going to say
Miss Congeniality - 6/10 - Sandra Bullock film again!
Batman - 7/10 - Now this is more like it from DC, the first movie I've enjoyed properly with Jack Nicholson as the Joker as I don't actually think I've seen it before.
Friday the 13th (1980) - 6/10 - Another pick from the missus with it being Halloween this week. The first of the Friday 13th movies which was obviously done a low budget
Batman Returns - 7/10 - Gave it a 7 but didn't think it was actually that great, it was more about Catwoman (Pfeiffer) and Penguin (de Vito) than Batman himself.
Batman Forever - 6/10 - I know it got bad reviews but I've given it a 6 myself as I remember going to see this as a 'leaving junior school' treat with my class which was a good memory.
Thor: Ragnarok - 9/10 - Oh yes, the best film I've watched this month (last night at the cinema actually) which was brilliant. The right amount of comedy with a Guardians of the Galaxy feel to it. Sets things up nicely for Infinity War too.

It was so different to the first 2 and I thought it had too much comedy. As a stand alone film though however I thought it was brilliant.

Funny what a difference of opinion can do! You're right though, it was a lot different to the first two Thor films but I enjoyed the comedy element and didn't think there was too much of it. For me, it's probably just as well as to make a third film following the same storylines/battle scenes would have been a bit boring now.

True - Since I'm now caught up with all of the Marvel films, I've switched to watching all of the DC movies so been wading through the shitty old ones first just as I did with the first Marvel films!

    Still a 9.1 / 10.

The .1 is just additional for the Korg dialogue.
