Surprised balance was dropped for Lyth. He has had a couple of cracking slip catches but he's in the team to bat!
Bring back Hugh Morris, Maynard and Stevie Watkin!

Going to my firs cricket match tomorrow in Southampton, no idea who is playing. It's at the Aegas Bowl. Hopefully more interesting live than on tv

    Hampshire v Glamorgan 20/20.

Should be a good one. Not til the evening though. 7pm start according to their website.

Shahid Afridi should play. He loves a big hit!

Another classic England humiliating defeat, Ballance (how many chances can he get?!) and Dawson have done nothing this series after coming in, and if there was an obvious opener in the wings then Jennings would also be on shaky ground.

Doesn't spell well with an Ashes series down under in less than 5 months time (assuming it goes ahead).

    We were poor weren't we!

Been quite good watching the Women's World Cup as some of it has been played at Bristol's County Ground.
I'm actually a bit gutted I've come to London today and will miss the England semi final played there tomorrow.

Our openers been gash for a while now - agree on balance never seemingly taking his chances

Anderson and Broad seemingly under zero pressure either

1-1 tho in the series - all to play for!

Not had a decent opening partnership since Strauss retired, although I think Carberry was hard done by - 2nd highest run series in that Ashes series down under and I don't think he threw any of his wickets away (funny him and KP were the two top scorers and both didn't play again afterwards).

I'm glad it's 1-1 as I've tickets for the final test at Old Trafford so at least it's still in the balance going into that, it's just the same problems time and time again it seems with nothing changing, as I read the other day 50-3 seems a common England score line now, as whatever opener and Ballance are walking wickets.

Hard to know what the answer is, Root should probably be at 3 with someone else at 4, I'd say Bairstow is a place too high at 5 as it is to move him up, I also don't see the point in a 2nd spinner (especially one who's meant to be able to bat as well) in the line up so I'd take Dawson out for another pace bowler, and Root himself can bowl a few if there's need for an alternative spinner (which there shouldn't be in our home tests or down under).

Personally I'd still have KP and Bell in

Don't know how I haven't commented on the Ladies win either, fantastic stuff from them.
