After the shambolic turnout last time round for the Vipers, The Gaffer was left in a much better mood when 21 players confirmed their attendance for the visit of Hartlepool. Two of those were injured with BobMem and Redknapp69 still out of action whereas The Gaffer was able to rest trunky, samsami, Dermotron, felixsjo and AJ as intended as this match comes just a few days after the last one. Unfortunately, there was no rest in order for gazzas1uk, Papalzru and batman due to a lack of turnouts in their respective positions while evesham was asked to play in the middle of the park in the absence of a recognised central midfielder.

All in all, there were six changes as Erkifino was named in the sticks, seeing Baz move out to left-back and ebfatz recalled at right-back. In defence, samsami was rested with vinjwoods coming into the side while there were also recalls for pyromyst, evesham and Fodster.

It took the Vipers only 14 minutes to score as Fodster registered his 10th goal of the season with a well taken strike, turning on the ball after collecting a lifted ball forward from gazzas1uk. Unfortunately, 22nd placed Hartlepool fought their way back into the game with an equaliser in the 37th minute. Legs then tired, leading to the wingers of batman and Papalzru being replaced by Bevchenko and Janis89 playing out of position on the left and right respectively. gazzas1uk also made way for samsami to come on as a temporary defensive midfielder and it was perhaps those changes that went against the Vipers as Hartlepool got themselves a 2nd goal in the 81st minute. An injury to ebfatz three minutes later capped a miserable result for the Vipers, ending the match with 10 men.

    Previous Results
    Season 3 - League Two - H - Southend - 1:1 (Jesus)

Having lost just 2 times in 35 matches, CM Vipers have suddenly lost their last two games which has seen Southend close the gap on the league leaders to 11 points with a game in hand. That means that this particular trip to Southend is a massive game for the club as they hope to secure promotion and establish themselves as title winners. Naturally, The Gaffer wishes to name his strongest eleven possible although he will have to do it without the trio of ebfatz, BobMem and Kaneman. The latter hasn't been a regular fixture this season but the previous two players had started 49 league games between them.

The pundits can't quite work out who'll win this one, knowing full well that The Gaffer had deployed his fringe players in the previous game while the Vipers were held to a 1:1 draw in the last meeting between the two teams, the only fixture to date in their history.

    Probable Starting XI

    Goofy

    felixsjo - vinjwoods - Dermotron - Baz

    gazzas1uk

    Jesus

    Shermaldo - Bevchenko - Liam

    AJ

Bench: Erkifino, trunky, evesham, Redknapp69, Janis89.

Playing without a striker may backfire. And it's not really the strongest team we can field without one of our star strikers

Not really the strongest is it as I'm sure my last 5 out weight Baz's last 5. Still...it's for the team!

    Look! I spotted a mistake!
You forgot me in your Starting XI!

It's a good thing I saw that error in time!
