    Inserting Mass Players in to a Database

    Does anyone know of a way of inserting mass players in to a database? I'm not too bothered about their attributes, I just want to be able to insert their name, nationality, date of birth and the club that they're at. I've had a search around and it seems that Cam has used an injector tool for his CM0001 updates but I don't know how to use the squad injector/extractor in the Flex tool.

    First of all, a MASSIVE thank you to djole2mcloud for helping me with this.

    Here is how to insert players in to your database:

    1) Download Legion from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5P...ew?usp=sharing

    2) Go to the "csv" folder and open the template - fill the fields in that you want to; anything you leave blank gets ignored. (Important: a player must be inserted in to a club and the full name as it appears in the editor must be used. For example, use Manchester City and not Man City. If you want them to be a free transfer create a temporary team and insert them to that club and then edit them once they've been inserted). Once you're done filling in the fields save the template (you can rename it if you want to, it doesn't matter)

    3) Run Legion.bat

    4) Type -1 and hit enter (this takes you to a hidden list of programs)

    5) Type 5 and hit enter (The Uber Tool)

    6) Click the "..." button next to 'Data Dir:' and navigate to the data folder you wish to edit.

    7) Click the 'split' button and wait. (NOTE: this can take over 60 seconds so be patient - a message will appear when it's done)

    8) Click the "..." next to 'CSV File:' and locate the template you saved in step 2.

    9) Click the 'parse' button. A message will appear when it's done.

    10) Click the 'insert' button. A message will appear when it's done.

    11) Click the 'join' button. A message will appear when it's done.

    12) Open the editor to check your results.

    Curious. Does the player position import work? Last time I tried this it didn't import positions.

    yes,it works...last column is for player position

    I have tried but it only correctly inserts the last of my three players.

    It was due to the player positions I was using.

    Valid positions:

    GK
    D
    WB
    DM
    M
    AM
    ST
    F

    Followed by a space and RLC

    One question.
    If you enter a mass quantity of players in the games, would that affect the stability?

    What about attributes? (Ok two questions...)
    Would they be random? (still counts as 2)

    *Shrug* Entering mass quantities of players will of course affect the database depending on who you insert, where and how many. Bit of a pointless question really. If you leave the columns blank then the player will be given a 0 for that column and therefore be random.

    I'm having issues with step 3 - "run legion.bat"

    When I run the file cmd.exe tells me that:

    'java' is not recognized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

    Never been a fan of Java - especially in connection with Firefox, if u know what I mean Running legion fine now.

    I'm sorry for being such a noob in everything I've done on this forum but I need more help. I've been following all the guides and am reasonably confident I know WHAT to do if not HOW to do it.

    So I have these spreadsheets from verified DBs and I want to merge various parts of them but the format of my original CSV/Excel DBs (from John Locke's? pre-game editor) is different to the format of the "insert player template" in Legion - i.e. Legion has 140-odd fields whereas ODB has 78 give or take. I'm not an expert at transposing data or using Excel so how do I make these 2 sources compatible?

    Are you guys just manually inserting your values or how are you taking staff attributes from the pre-game editor and adding them via Legion? Thanks in advance

    What I do is make a number of teams (typically named Jesus 1, Jesus 2, Jesus 3, etc) and then use Legion for injecting the players with a date of birth and nationality in to the database (don't worry about attributes for Legion).

    There's a bug within Legion that changes the day of birth so what you need to do is extract the data from your custom database and edit it in order to change the players day of birth to the correct one.

    Once this is done, cross reference the names and DOBs of the players with the extracted data from the various updates in order to fill in the attributes. You can use various formulas to help you.

    Hi I have a problem with special characters like diaeresis in German names. There is a way to prevent this problem or I have to change them and after edit by editor? Thanks

    What is the problem? Does the player not get inserted or is their name messed up?

    and not recognised

    The other 180 players was not insert by the app...

    In other tries no problem but was Italian player with no special characters.

    I trying to do a Classic DB.

    You should use Legion as a means of inserting players with a nationality and date of birth only. The CM0102 Updater Tool developed by ArchibaldUK should be used for updating staff preferences.

    Would really appreciate help/advice on this...

    Context:
    • I've used Database Exporter to export the entire .68 database into excel.
    • In excel I've reduced CA/PA/CR/HR/WR of all players in the database by 10. Nothing else altered.
    • Now I want to re-import and have been advised to try using legion which I have since downloaded...


    Two questions regarding this:

    1) The 'template' spreadsheet in legion is slightly different to the one you get from Database Exporter (some columns in different places/some columns named slightly differently etc)

    Should I copy what I've done in the exported spreadsheet into the relevant columns of the 'template' spreadsheet? Or will legion work fine with the spreadsheet generated by Database Exporter?

    2)
    I'm not 'adding' new additional players to the database per se. I'm essentially looking to overwrite all the existing ones.

    Should I therefore take a different approach to inserting the data? Using a blank database for example?

    (...follow-up from this thread: http://champman0102.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8865 seemed more relevant to post here now though...)

    No matter how big or small the file, this never completes parsing. It hangs, you can even click the other buttons, nothing is inserted but it doesn't parse. Ideas?
