Six of the eleven players that The Gaffer had hoped to start were all unavailable for the visit of Exeter City which means surprise starts for six players who hadn't expected to feature.

The lucky six were Dermotron, samsami, felixsjo, gazzas1uk, Redknapp69 and pyromyst.

The latter trio weren't so lucky in terms of being able to play in their usual role though with pyromyst being employed on the right wing, gazzas1uk pushed forward in the middle of the pitch and Redknapp69 lining up in an old position of his on the left.

Fortunately for The Gaffer, he had exactly 16 players to choose from in the squad with ebfatz missing out due to injury.

The Vipers were looking to end a run of three matches without a win and perhaps started nervously as a result of this. However, they soon settled down after the 10 minute mark passed and it was Janis89 who opened the scoring as he collected a 30 yard ball from Baz before curling the ball beyond Hamon and into the net for his 26th goal of the season.

Veteran striker Clinton Morrison attempted to pull a goal back but his header went wide of the goal before Erkifino was then forced into a save by Noble.

At the other end, Baz came close to a memorable goal as a banana shot was turned behind by Hamon. A few minutes later though, it was 2:0 to the Vipers with a quickly taken throw-in by pyromyst seeing Redknapp69 control the ball excellently before bearing down on goal and doubling the lead.

After Exeter's Cummins sent a ball over the bar, the half-time whistle was heard and the Vipers went into the break in a good position. They continued their dominance on the game straight after the restart, seenig felixsjo's ball for Janis89 resulting in Hamon tipping it wide.

Fresh legs then entered the pitch as trunky came on to replace felixsjo in an unfamiliar right-back position while BobMem took over from evesham, playing in defensive midfield, another to be situated out of position. Exeter made changes too, replacing goalkeeper Hamon, Pope and Morrison with Butterfield, Pym and Watkins.

Unfortunately for Butterfield, his first action was to pick the ball out of the net as pyromyst's lifted corner was powered in by none other than BobMem.

10 minutes later, it was a rout for the Vipers as they made it 4:0 with Baz playing the ball right to trunky who then lobbed it on ahead of Janis89 who had no hesitation in putting the ball beyond Butterfield.

That paved the way for Fodster to join the action as Redknapp69 was taken off. Bevchenko moved out to the left wing and Fodster was asked to play just behind Janis89.

A rare foray into the Vipers half for Exeter resulted in a yellow card for captain Dermotron who took one for the team after Oakley almost made his way past him. The long ball was played and met with a header by Cummins which Erkifino did well to tip wide. The resulting corner was cleared away by BobMem but pyromyst managed to regain possession, playing it on to Janis89 who embarked on a run and scored with a lovely striker to seal a 5:0 win and his hat-trick.

Most importantly, the Vipers had now guaranteed themselves of a play-off spot with 7 games left to play.
