Despite the minimum changes to the team which had kept two clean sheets of late, it was Bury who came out looking like the stronger side.
Danny Mayor conjured up the first chance of the game, seeing a crashing drive from distance turned away by Goofy who then did well to get his fingertips on the ball from the resulting corner and header by Kelvin Etuhu.
If that served as a warning to the Vipers, they failed to take heed as a corner was soon conceded by Baz who put the ball out of play in cutting out a pass by Mayor. From that, Mayor's floated ball was hit by Etuhu who found the net to take a surprise lead.
Thankfully, the Vipers reacted immediately with Bevchenko picking up a cleared samsami ball and advancing up the flank before crossing into the box. There, AJ wason hand to set batman up for a lovely strike which levelled the game despite being the first chance for the Vipers.
Two goals within two minutes soon turned into three goals in seven minutes as Bury promptly worked their way up the other end with Tom Soares bypassing a challenge from evesham before passing it right to Danny Rose who played it on to Mayor. A cross into the box saw Daniel Nardiello bear down on goal and fire the ball beyond Goofy to hand the lead back to Bury.
Both goals for Bury had been assisted by Mayor and so it was a blow for Bury, but good news for the Vipers when Mayor had to come off with injury in the 26th minute, being replaced by Nicky Adams.
Credit to Bury though, they showed no sign of the injury effecting them as they made it 3:1 only two minutes later. Soares was involved again as he triggered the move, passing to Rose who held up play before hitting the ball into the area where Alex Blackman was on hand to head it into the net.
This game was definitely not a lesson in defending as the Vipers rallied to pull one back. Baz and samsami started things off at the back before it was played forward to evesham. He then passed it back to Baz who played a one-two with gazzas1uk before passing it into the box for pyromyst. Turning around, pyromyst spotted a run by felixsjo who got himself into a great position to shoot and did so with a hard effort at goal which went in! It was his first Vipers goal and made it 2:3 to Bury just before half-time.
With so much action and five goals in the first half, it's hardly surprising to see the tempo die down a bit after the restart although AJ did see a speculative attempt held by Nick Pope.
With the clock showing 57 minutes, Redknapp69 made his way on to the pitch with evesham making way. He was to play in central midfield just behind pyromyst which where he would usually be deployed as gazzas1uk dropped back into defensive midfield. Three minutes later, there was a double change as Fodster came on for Bevchenko and slotted in behind AJ with pyromyst moving out to the right wing. Meanwhile, batman went off with trunky coming on and playing in defensive midfield, seeing gazzas1uk back into centre midfield and Redknpp69 moving to the left wing.
The changes saw dividends in the 79th minute as felixsjo pounced on a loose ball and was chased by Soares as he sped up the right wing before chipping the ball into the box. Timing his run to perfection, Fodster powered the ball beyond Pope and into the net to make it 3:3!
Time was running out for the Vipers to find a winner though as a lofted ball into the box was dived onto by AJ only for Pope to save and concede a corner. pyromyst's deliver was cut out by Dan Stratford and the whistle was heard.
