pyromyst has been in top form of late for the Vipers which has seen Redknapp69 and Bevchenko pushed out of the starting eleven. It was he who got the ball rolling for the Vipers, setting the tone early on with a well struck drive which went narrowly wide before creating a chance for Redknapp69 which went wide. It was also a corner kick from pyromyst which was put over the bar with a header by BobMem while another cross into the box for a Janis89 header was also saved well by Nash.
It'll be no surprise then to see that pyromyst was the man who opened the scoring after collecting a chipped ball from BobMem (his first assist of the season). The midfielder took the ball upfield and drove it forward, working his way all the way into the penalty area before playing it past Sinclair and drilling it into the net! It's his 4th goal of the season and a personal best having only managed 3 in his debut season for the Vipers which had been followed up by just one goal last season.
Four minutes after BobMem managed an assist, his defensive partner Dermotron then made it 2:0 after the Vipers had been awarded a free-kick. Ilesanmi was the guilty party, knocking Janis89 down in his stride for the set piece which pyromyst saw deflected by the wall. It fell kindly for the Vipers skipper though who had no trouble in rifling it home for his own 4th goal of the season too, also a personal best having recorded 3 and 2 goals in the past two years.
With pyromyst seeing another chance beaten away by Nash and Janis89's follow up saved, the Vipers were dominating and soon saw Redknapp69 put a chance wide of the goal. In all this time, Erkifino had nothing to do. That is, until the 39th minute where a forward pass by Meikle was crossed into the box. Ben Hirst got his head to the ball which Erkifino saved and deflected clear only for an advancing Summerfield to knock it into the net.
Three chances for Janis89 and one each for pyromyst and Redknapp69 failed to restore the two goal lead for the Vipers before the half-time whistle was heard.
It's clear that the Vipers should be way in front at York as they carried on with Janis89 driving a ball wide in the second half. York though, had a chance to level the scores once more after pyromyst was booked for tripping Montrose. The free-kick went Winfield's way but evesham was on hand to put in a crucial tackle before York made a change, bringing on Carson in place of Montrose.
The Vipers were still putting the pressure on though, seeing a long range shot by evesham tipped wide by Nash before Janis89 had two chances, one headed wide and a smasher of a shot beaten away by York's stopper.
Before long, the clock showed 20 minutes left and so The Gaffer made changes within the next four minutes. AJ took over from Janis89, Bevchenko came on for batman (playing on the right as Redknapp69 switched to the left) and vinjwoods took over from evesham, operating as a defensive midfielder with gazzas1uk pushed up. York also made a change as Jarvis was replaced by O'Hanlon.
Bevchenko had a chance to make an immediate impact, winning a free-kick after being pushed by Lowe. His attempt from the dead ball resulted in going wide. AJ soon followed suit with a volley which flew over the bar before York were forced into a change in the dying moments of the game as Zubar took over from an injured Hirst.
But then came the final whistle and the moment came that the club had been waiting for for so long, CM Vipers had secured promotion to League One!
