Season 3 - League Two - H - Wycombe - 4:1 (Redknapp69, Janis89 x3)
With the subdued Northampton fixture taking place on a Monday night, the next fixture is away at 2nd placed Wycombe six days later which has allowed the entire squad to fully recover from a busy week for the Vipers, all but Baz (89%) and Kaneman (injured).
Perhaps the players had taken their foot off the gas after securing the title? That'd be a harsh suggestion as there were genuinely some exhausted players out there that had featured against Northampton as a long season comes towards a close. This fixture will be a whopping 56th game of the season if you count all the league games, cup games and friendlies together. It's not easy to keep everyone fit when you consider that there is probably only a core of 20 players that turn up on a regular basis.
Nevertheless, the team selection for the trip to Wycombe will be the strongest one possible based on form as usual. That should see the likes of Goofy, trunky, Dermotron, vinjwoods, ebfatz, pyromyst and Janis89 recalled to the team and there may be others coming in if there is no sign of Jesus or Shermaldo.
Probable Starting XI
ebfatz - vinjwoods - Dermotron - trunky
Shermaldo - pyromyst - batman
Bench: Erkifino, BobMem, Redknapp69, Robaldo1, AJ.

After a 2:0 defeat at the hands of Northampton, it was all change for the Vipers as they prepared to take on Wycombe who were looking to join the club in League One next season.
All in all, there were 6 changes as only merkezekrem, evesham, gazzas1uk, Redknapp69 and batman stayed in the starting eleven.
Goofy has been handed a first 21st start of the season with ebfatz, trunky and BobMem replacing felixsjo, Baz and vinjwoods in defence. merkezekrem remains in the side after Dermotron was surprisingly missing from training for only the second time this season.
Once again, there is a lack of a natural central midfielder and right winger in the squad which means Redknapp69 was asked to play once more on the right wing while gazzas1uk plays in the heart of midfield. The two carry on from the last game along with batman and evesham in the midfield five while pyromyst comes in to replace Bevchenko.
There is also a final change up front as Janis89 comes in for Fodster after a below-par performance against Northampton.
Fatigue had been a problem against Northampton but The Gaffer felt that wouldn't be an issue this time around at Adams Park. The Vipers certainly weren't lethargic as they had 8 attempts on goal within the first half hour although they failed to find the breakthrough. batman had the first chances, sending a volley just over the bar but finding the target the second time around which was gathered by Martin. Janis89 then had a hat-trick of attempts, putting a one ranger off target following a one-two with Redknapp69 before sending a second shot horribly wide. The third finally hit the target but Martin beat it away. He soon had a 4th attempt, which was deflected clear by Martin while merkezekrem also had a rare chance, driving the ball low and hard but Martin was able to hold on to it.
After all those chances, it looked as though the Vipers were then sucker punched by Wycombe as they moved upfield through Mazzone, chipping it right to Murphy who then played it into the area. As Hayes collected the ball, he turned, shot and saw the ball go into the net. But as he wheeled away to celebrate what he thought was a 20th goal of the season, the referee whistled to disallow it after the linesman had flagged Hayes correctly offside.
Soon afterwards, Redknapp69 was booked after holding on to Bloomfield's shirt as he attempted to break away which suggested the Vipers could be losing their momentum. That wasn't the case though as the first half ended with Wycombe failing to register a shot at goal at all. batman, Janis89 and pyromyst all had further chances but the scoreline stayed at 0:0.
The theme of the game continued after the break with no changes for either side. Janis89 had yet another chance to score but didn't take it as his volley from a cross by batman was well held by Martin. He then turned provider, spotting batman in the area and his lob was driven at goal by Martin who could only push it away.
In the 54th minute, the breakthrough was found at long last! batman found pyromyst with a low pass to his right. The midfielder then brought the ball forward, running at least 20 yards before deciding to strike the ball with fury which rocketed into the back of the net. It's a 5th goal of the season for pyromyst and only his 9th overall in 3 seasons for the Vipers.
merkezekrem and batman both saw another chance go begging with Martin turning their efforts away before Goofy was finally called into action at the other end after Mazzone unleashed a volley which Goofy at first couldn't gather but soon got down to save it with feet after Mazzone went for a follow-up.
With the ball delivered back up the other end, a headed ball forward by Hayes for Amadi-Holloway saw the latter have the ball taken away by BobMem. He then moved it right to ebfatz who immediately played it to pyromyst on the half volley. Spotting a run from Janis89, pyromyst played it ahead and the striker finally put the ball into the net with his 7th attempt of the game.
Typically though, despite dominating throughout, Wycombe then halved the deficit once more to make it 2:1 with only their 2nd shot of the game. gazzas1uk had been booked for a foul and from there, Murphy was able to embark on a run which resulted in a low cross to the near post. Amadi-Holloway got there unmarked and easily put the ball into the net via the post.
The Gaffer made an immediate change after the goal in the 67th minute, taking off batman and putting on Bevchenko with the sub moving on the right wing as Redknapp69 switched to the left. Six minutes later, there was a double change as AJ came on for Janis89 and felixsjo made an appearance with Redknapp69 coming off. That led to a shuffle as felixsjo went to right-back, ebfatz moved to the right wing and Bevchenko over to the left. Wycombe also made a change as Craig replaced Mazzone.
Bevchenko almost made an immediate impact, running onto a ball that had been fed through by ebfatz only to smash it wildly over the bar under pressure from Murphy. Soon afterwards, the Vipers won a free-kick which was delivered into the box by Bevchenko. However, AJ was adjudged to have handled the ball before the referee blew for full time.
Scoring goals and winning games
Life of a Viper
At least we won!
Clean sheet would have been nice though...defence looked solid, all 7's.
