There should have been two changes for the Vipers in their first ever trip to the Macron Stadium, home of Bolton Wanderers in the first meeting between the two teams. Had Erkifino or Goofy put in their first training appearance of the session, they'd be replacing Kowalinho in the sticks but as they remain AWOL, the Polish stopper stays in for his 26th consecutive start. The other change did take place as BobMem came in to replace PedroM on the right side of the centre back duo. As it happens, two changes did take place after all after plans for the game were disrupted by a shin injury for ebfatz in training. While not serious, ebfatz was unable to participate in full training and therefore loses his place at right-back after just one start there with Craig Forrest coming in to make his 11th league start this season. For the rest of the team that featured in the EFL Trophy just four days ago, those starting that game are surprisingly fit enough to keep their places too.

There were changes on the bench though as Felix failed to attend training which puts him back to 3rd in the pecking order for left-wing as London35 comes into the squad, as does GFRay86. pyromyst was also available for selection once more after going AWOL in the last game but is forced to sit in the stands besides samsami and ebfatz.

Having drawn two of their last three league games, the Vipers have seen Sheff Utd pull 5 points clear at the top and with Bolton being 4th and 5 points behind the Vipers, this is a must win game for the team if they are to harbour hopes of promotion. Bolton's Adam Le Fondre is in top form, scoring 17 goals from just 19 starts and fellow striker Gary Madine has also managed 11 league goals too. Bolton may boast the best record of scoring goals so far this season but conceding 46 in 21 games has stopped them from being in the top two.

It's clear to see why both teams were in the right half of the table as they both attacked with intensity as soon as the game got underway, Bolton seeing Madine drive a shot wide before hitting the bar with a spectacular half volley whilst Redknapp69 did likewise in hitting the upright after a trademark run when he beat Wilson for pace before trying his luck.

The Vipers may well have been a goal to the good after 20 minutes though after being denied a penalty when ZanSnake was clipped by Bastien inside the area. Such was the fury by the Vipers players, Redknapp69 appeared to let his frustrations get the better of him when pushing Davies a few minutes later and being booked.

Redknapp69 again had a chance for the Vipers but he was a bit far out when sending a shot wide before Dermotron joined him in the notebook for unsporting behaviour.

There's not stopping Redknapp69 this season though and he won possession before finding Bevchenko with a low pass into the area. Bevchenko, who has 21 goals in 115 appearances for the Vipers, blasted the ball into the top corner for his first goal of the season. The relief was clear to see after a long spell out of action!

After the break, Bolton came out firing once more with Kowalinho pushing away a shot from Davies but he was helpess in the 57th minute when Moxey's cross from the left saw Le Fondre use his first touch to create space befoer scoring to cap a well worked move by Bolton.

The Vipers tried to respond immediately but ZanSnake drive ball at goal was allowed to run free by Bastien and although AJ collected it and tried his luck, Bastien turned it away.

The referee then earned more abuse from fans and players alike for the Vipers after a free-kick from Bevchenko had been delivered into the box where evesham knocked it down for drkshadow1. As the left winger took a touch on the ball, his legs were taken away by Pratley but unbelievably the referee turned down the penalty appeal yet again!

A minute before half-time, Bevchenko was again in the aaction and although he tried to play the ball past Akinwande, the Colchester player got a foot on it and it bounced for evesham who instantly passed the ball through for Redknapp69 to run through and slot it beyond Walker. Perfect timing for a response with the Vipers now a goal behind at half-time. Redknapp69 did well to react to the play with a shot but Bastien tipped it wide.

Pratley himself had a shot from distance in the 71st minute which went well over the bar before the first change was made with gazzas1uk coming on for evesham. Five minutes later, after drkshadow1 tried to catch Bastien off his line which went over the bar, trunky came on for Baz. A further two minutes later, London35 joined the play in place of drkshadow1.

Time was running out for the frustrated Vipers who saw AJ's shot turned away by Bastien before play was sent up the other end. A cross Beevers saw Kowalinho fist the ball to safety but Madine took control of the ball and caught the goalkeeper in no mans land to score and make it 2:1 with 4 minutes left to play!

The Vipers tried in vain to rescue a point but after a low cross to the near post from ZanSnake, Bevchenko struck the ball over the bar whilst AJ had another on target in injury time but Bastien was able to save it, ensuring that Bolton get the three points.

Bad result but at least we had a few decent performances in the team. Maybe you should have stuck me in at full forward and lumped the high ball into me #bearinthesquare
