One point for Boa to secure the league play-offs?

    s2 ND1 match 27 ceara (h)

    Build up

With only one game remaining in the Brazilian league prior to the play-offs, one point may get Boa a play-off place.

Although Ceara are trying to win their third consecutive game, Boa are still favourites for the play-offs.

Boa are two points ahead of play off rivals Botafogo, and Mineiro.

Boa are also three points ahead of Cruzeiro who are the bookmakers long shots to make the play-offs

But because of superior goal difference a point for Boa should be enough to reach the play-offs regardless of other results.

    Tactics

    Formation and line up

Boa stayed with the 4-3-3 formation against Ceara's 4-4-2 formation.

There were only two Boa changes from the previous game -

In: Fernandez (SC), Craig Davies (FRC)

    Out: Wesley (SC), Leandrinho (AM/FRLC),

Boa need Cruzeiro to win or draw against Mineiro

To make the play-offs Boa need Cruzeiro to prevent a Mineiro victory.

Despite being in the play-off positions for most of the season it is now out of Boa Esporte's control.

The heavyweight clash between Atletico Mineiro v Cruzeiro will now
    decided Boa's faith.

Can Cruzeiro help Boa qualify for the Brasileirao division 1 league play-offs?

    s2 ND1 Match 27 Atletico Mineiro v Cruzeiro

    Build up

Mineiro start as clear favourites against Cruzeiro. They have won the copa Libertadores and the league the previous season under Jose Mourinho.

    Jose Mourinho

However, Cruzeiro are well acquainted with Mineiro from the Mina Gerais state championship and they will not fear Mineiro.

    Corruption in Brazilian football

There is a history of Brazilian corruption in football

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/1692727.stm

    https://www.theguardian.com/football...ixeira-resigns

It appears it has now returned.

Boa were denied a place in the Brasileirao Division 1 play-offs!!!

Despite having a better goal difference then Cruzerio and having more goals scored.

There are rumours that Fallon is considering resignation in protest.

Fallon was informed by the Brazilian CFB chairman of their reasoning over the phone:

    Brazil CFB Chairman:

Hello, am I for speak to Niguel Fallon?

    Me:

    Speaking.....

What the f**k is going on?

    What happened goal difference?

What happened goals scored? Boa win on both counts!!

    Even f**king alpha - f**king-bethical B is before C!!!

What sort of organisation is this?

    CFB Brazil Chairman:

Cruzeiro have more of the prestige and the defeat of Boa to Ceara 6-2 is a shame on the football of Brazil.

    Me:

Too right it is a f**king shame!!

Did you see the decisions of that Referee?

    F**king Pedro. Pedro Ziehl!!

Two f**king penalties and sending off for a "professional foul"

    Brazil CFB Chairman:

Please respect decision of referee or you get fine.

    (Ends call)

S2 Boa's Close season transfers create debate in the media

Boa faz contratações interessantes (Boa make interesting signings)

    Players in

Julio Cesar Lacerda – Lacerdosa (D/ML)

Great things are expected of this youngster.

Those who follow youth football say he already has great technique, determination, work-rate and is a set piece specialist.

    Lacerdosa (D/ML) attributes

    Leo Bartholo (DMC)

Bartholo is an aggressive experienced defensive midfielder with good workrate and teamwork.

It seems to be a shrewd Bosman deal by Boa.

    Leo Bartholo attributes

    Willians Domingues Fernandes (DMC)

Known simply as Willians, the defensive midfielder is known for his tough tackling, aggression and work rate.

He was not getting regular first team football at Cruzeiro, so he was delighted to sign for Boa on a Bosman deal.

    Willians (DMC) attributes

    Gelmin Rivas (SC)

This Venezuelan striker is a lethal finisher with great positioning.

He is also decent in the air, although he lacks stamina he is a powerful forward.

There are rumours that Boa smashed their wage bill to make sure to get this player and he now the highest earner in the club.

But since Boa got Rivas on a free transfer they can hardly complain.

    Gelmin Rivas attributes

Carlos augusto almeida da silva – Guto (D/ML)

    Known as Guto.

Experienced Guto is an a very good all around footballer who is aggressive and works hard for the team.

He also is very agile and puts in good crosses and is decent from the dead ball.

However, it thought he may pick up injuries easily.

It remains to be seen whether this Bosman signing will be worth it.

    Guto (D/ML) Attributes

    Fabiano Ribeiro de Freitas (GK)

    Simply known as Fabiano.

There is a general consensus among the experts that Boa may have finally solved their perceived goalkeeper problem with this Brazilian custodian.

As it is well known that, Boa goalkeepers struggle with aerial bombardment.

Fabiano really commands his area and is excellent at set pieces as well as having good shot stopping and reflexes.

It is believed that Boa broke their transfer record to sign him.

There are also rumours that Boa could have signed another Brazilian keeper of similar quality on a Bosman.

But Boa manager Fallon was reluctant to pay the signing on fee, so the player in question re-signed for his club instead!!

    Fabiano (GK) attributes

    Loans in

Leandrinho (AM/FRLC) was loaned in again as his versatility and performances have been impressive, during his previous spell.

Leandro Cordeiro de Lima Silva -”Leandrinho” (AM/FRLC)

He is not the strongest of players, but makes up for it with flair and creativity.

Leandrinho is also a decent finisher.

    Leandinho – attributes

    Players out

Just one Boa player was transferred out this close season

Edimo Ferreira Campos - “Edinho” - DMC

Although this veteran defensive midfielder is a decent player, sources close to club have hinted that manager Fallon was fed up of Edinho's injury proneness.

    Edinho – attributes

It is believed that Edinho was on fairly high wages and Fallon was just pleased to sell him for a zero transfer fee

What will Boa's future line up be?

It is unclear how Boa will line up next season following these transfers as Fallon is notoriously hard to predict.

We should know more of his thinking after preseason friendlies.

What is clear however, is that Boa have signed many aggressive and workman like players. Which would imply that Fallon thought his team needed to show more fight.

Most people agree that Fallon will now attempt to balance the books.

Especially after breaking Boa's transfer record and to clear more unwanted players from his squad.

    Monthly Review December

    Fixture list review - 6th November - 4th December

Boa's form collapsed in these last eight games.

Boa had three draws and two losses in eight games

    League Table

Boa “made the play-offs” based on all arithmetic, goals scored and a goal difference etc.

But forces elsewhere decided that Cruzeiro should reach the play offs instead.

Fernandez (SC) topped the average rating for the season, followed by Marques (FC), Arhur Morares (GK), Leandro Freire (DC), Peterson (DLC), Ronaldinho (FLC), Wesley (SC), Sacramento (AMLC) and Radames (D/DMRC)

START OF SEASON 3 : January - Gerson signs for Boa on a permanent deal

    Gerson (AMLC)

    Press Conference

    Press:

What made you sign this player on a permanent deal?

    Me:

Gerson is a class act he is a good professional

This young Brazilian has the world at his feet.

    Press:

It is said that Boa broke their transfer record to sign this player.

    Is this true?

    Me:

I cannot go into financial details but the spend on the player will not put the club debt.

It will not be paid to Roma in a lump sum, but spread over a longer period.

    Press:

Does this mean that you do not have to sell any players despite buying Fabiano (GK) and Gerson (AMLC) ?

    Me:

    This is correct.

S3 Boa fans player of the year - Sacramento

The Boa Esporte fans player of the year for the previous season is Sacramento (AMLC) which is a surprising choice to pundits

His average rating was not the best in the club last season. But the veteran 35 year old midfielder did play an incredible 42 games for the club in that season, so the fans had taken a shine to his effort and consistency for the cause.

S3 Boa are allowed to play in the Copa Libertadores

    Copa Libertadores

Boa have been entered into the Copa Libertadores along with Cruzerio, Corinthians and Boatafogo.

    Presidente Moraes

Presidente Moraes was surprised to have recieved a letter from the CFB (Brazilian FA) informing him that Boa are in the tornament and apologised for any inconvience caused during the league season

Flamengo got left out of the Copa Libertadores, despite having reached the semi-finals of the Brazilian league play offs after topping the league.

I have decided not to question the Brazilian FA's wisdom as they seem like a law unto themselves.

But at least Vivi was pleased:

Vivi: I knew we would be Millionairos!

Me: They are not in this years competition I checked!

    Boa sell Chilean Goalkeeper Prieto

    Franciso Prieto (GK)

    Press Conference

    Press:

    Why did you sell Prieto?

    Me:

Well when the sun was not in his eyes he was a very good goalkeeper

Also, due to the two foreigner rule it is very difficult to have a non-Brazilian national as a goalkeeper as it limits the amount of options a team has

s3 February – A legend retires from Boa

Player Coach Ronaldinho has decided to hang up his boots

    Ronaldinho (FLC)

    Press Conference

    Press:

How will Ronaldinho's playing days be remembered at Boa?

    Me:

I was privileged to manage such a great player.

Ronaldinho was the ultimate professional and was instrumental in Boa winning the Brazilian Champions Cup for the first time in the clubs history.

    Both in the semi-final:

    And the final:

(Form is temporary class is permanent) – Has become Boa's Motto because of Ronaldinho.

And this sign is the last thing our players see before they go out on the pitch in the Estadio da Fazendinha.

Ronaldinho was always capable of flashes of genius and the unexpected.

It was clear to me that Ronaldinho loved the important games the more pressure in a game the better he played.

He was a real big game player.

Ronaldinho really connected with the fans here.

And it was an emotional time for him to quit his playing career in the city of Ituiutaba .

The Boa fans worship him and he loves the fans

    Press:

Will Ronaldinho remain at the club in a coaching capacity?

    Me:

You can be certain of that.

He is an excellent coach who the players can learn a lot from, in particular the younger players

s3 Flavio Medeiros da Silva to go for surgery?

Flavio was signed last season but was ineligible to play for Boa.

There are rumours he has to wait longer for his first Boa appearance.

He was initially signed as a defensive midfielder.

    Flavio

    Press Conference

Press: Is it true that Flavio has a serious injury?

    Me:

Yes, unfortunately he will be out of team for at least 7 months as he requires surgery, to solve his injury

It is unfortunate as he has performed very well in training and he can now play in a number of positions.

s3 Teco appointed as Boa player/coach

Wender Coelho da Silva, otherwise known as Teco has joined the Boa coaching staff

    Teco (DC)

    Press Conference

Press: What coaching skills will Teco bring to the Boa backroom team?

    Me:

Although young in coaching terms, Teco is a good all-round coach and will fit in well with our other coaching staff.

He will also provide cover as a centre back where required

    s3 New Academy Graduate Hebinhosa

Heber do Amaral - (Also known as Hebinhosa) (D/AML)

    Marco Garavelli Assistant Manager

    Marco: Is good player

    Me:

Yes he is ideal, more competition in the left back position, particularly because that whiner Uendel (D/AML) is still AWOL

    Uendel (D/AML)

It is a pity that he has such a poor temperament because he has a decent skillset.

At least we are less likely to have that trouble with a youth player, like Hebinhosa

s3 Boa's first game competitive game of the season in the Campeonato Mineiro

    S3 MG Match 1 Tombense (a)

    Build up

Finally after a controversial end to the previous season Boa get the new season under way with the first game for the Mina Gerais State Championship against Tombense.

There is great anticipation among Boa fans about how the new signings are going to fit into the Boa Esporte squad.

Boa manager Fallon has played a direct 4-2-3-1 in friendly games. It is speculated that this will be his choosen sytle and formation during the Mina Gerais Championship (Campeonato Mineiro).

    Tactics

    Formation and line up

As predicted Boa lined out with a 4-2-3-1 formation with two deep lying midfielders.

Four players were set to make their debut for Boa:

    s3 Boa v Cruzeiro – grudge match

    S3 MG Match 2 Cruzeiro (h)

    Build up

This is the first game Boa played against Cruzeiro since they were denied a place in the Brasileiro Division 1 play off places in the previous season.

Despite Boa having a better goal difference then Cruzerio and having more goals scored.

The more sickening fact for Boa was that Cruzeiro ended up winning the Brasileiro division 1 league title

Boa manager Fallon would surely like to derail Cruzeiro in the Campeonato Mineiro state championship.

    Tactics

    Formation and line up

Boa started with the same formation and line up from the previous game

Just before half time Boa changed to a 4-3-3 formation to counter Cruzeiro's 4-1-2-1-2 diamond formation.
