Moving to Bohemians was most likely a good decision. Bigger club, bigger chance of winning things.

The Celtic job recently became available in Scotland. I would have applied, however we have run away in the league and I figured my chances are greater at Raith now. Celtic would have been cool though.

    Finally!!!

I have mixed feelings about applying for new jobs. I know I have to, but I love this team. The talent in the squad is immense, and with nearly 10 million in the bank we could dominate Scotland for years. Oh well, off we go..

    Completed letters: R (Raith Rovers)

Congrats You did well to resist the Celtic job! Is it still available? Could jump ship now to take on C!

I'm definitely feeling positive about being Bohemian manager, bring it on

turning down either of Glasgow's arse cheeks would be a very easy decision for me

I think my wife would get interested in dealing with Boho

    ARGH!

    So near, yet so far!

Having done poorly in the cup competitions, we were pretty much up there for most of the season and topped the league with 8 games to go only to win just 2 of them (one against arch rivals Sligo who were competing with us throughout the season). In the end, we failed to win our final 4 games and dropped to 3rd place.

With a squad of 24 players by the end of the season, I wouldn't say we were struggling with numbers but perhaps more with trying to move on the poorer quality players in the squad. I did manage to raise about £800K in sales by the end of the season and brought in a few of my own including the likes of Jassem Sukar and Jordan Thompson. I'll also be on the lookout for a quality striker which we were missing while I hope that Adam McDonnell does a lot better in terms of goals and assists although he has the best average rating in the squad.

Unfortunately, no cup glory this year has cost me in my world reputation as I've dropped from 1553rd to 1628th.

    H done
    Spoiler!

Great season, especially the second part, only two defeats since winter and I believe I finally got the answer to those annoying 4-3-3-offside tactics played by almost all managers in the World in 2021.
    Spoiler!

The first experience in European football was too short.
    Spoiler!

The next job, pretty unexpected, middle table side from Eredivise.
    Spoiler!

Wales is also doing good. Both draws (2:2, 3:3) against Holland taste like wins. My reputation is now 220th and one important thing I noticed, each win with Wales in qualifying matches improves my rep by ten or more places!
    Spoiler!

Great to see my previous team is doing good too. They won Copa Libertadores and World Club Championship 2020!
    Spoiler!

Good work pieriedaczi. Twente should be fun. These teams from Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV don't know how to roll over !

Mark, it does look like you are on the way up. Nead a few more quality players and you should be there. I'd keep Jak McCourt if it's not too late. He was a rock for my Dundalk side

I've had him on loan twice now, was decent the first time around but not so much this time as Jordan Thompson has come in and done well too.

Celtic hired Chris Coleman fairly quickly (before I won the league with Raith). I have moved to Holland and PEC Zwolle. I didn't check but assumed it was a brilliant opportunity to get the valuable letter 'Z' - turns out they are listed as PEC Zwolle though, so it will be P. Anyways ... I arrived just in time to get them promoted from the Dutch second tier - going for glory next season!

My current world ranking is 174th.

Too bad about Bohemian's poor finish to the season, I had faith in you. Next year!

Great to see this still going strong, big call to leave Drogheda Mark but vindicated I feel even with the collapse at the end of the season, I'm sure that elusive Irish League title will be yours next season

I think it is the right move, I can certainly feel the benefit in terms of extra cash, attendances and player attraction. It's just a shame that my ability to win cups has been left behind with Drogheda which is having a negative impact on my rep

    G” is done.

That was one hell of a battle. We made a statement of intent by beating Feyenoord 1-0 in the season opening Johan Cruijff Schaal. When the league started, it was the usual 3 suspects plus ourselves who led the field, The order varied, but there was never more than 3 points between the top 4. Ajax were the first to drop off the pace and they fell away badly. By the end of the calendar year, Feyenoord were unbeaten, but 3rd, only 2 points behind ourselves and PSV. It was draws that cost them as they fell a bit further behind. At the end of February, we were 3 points behind PSV, and 1 ahead of Feyenoord, but with a game on hand on both. Our last 2 games were PSV at home and Feyenoord away, so I was looking for a clear lead going into that.

You have to hand it to PSV. When they collapse they do it with a style that would put the England cricket team to shame. After losing to Man City in their final Champions League Phase 2 game, they then went on a run of just 1 win in their last 10 league games. Feyenoord dropped a couple of points too, so in the end we could have won with 3 to spare, but slipped up at home to Herenveen. PSV were next to visit and there was no mistake this time. A 2-0 win wrapped up the title.

In other news, I appear to have become the manager of the Paraguay national side. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it as World Cup qualification looks to be out of the question. Maybe a springboard for when one of the African nations sack their managers after qualifying.

Just 1 game played, a 3-1 defeat in Argentina with the previous managers squad. I don't think that told me much, but next it's Peru at home, which looks winnable.

I had intended to dump the cup (aka KNVB Bekker), but drawn away to Ajax in the 3rd round, I didn't want to give them any sniff of a recovery, so we beat them 3-1. Utrecht at home and a 2nd string put 4 past them. With 2 non-Eredivisie sides in the draw for the semi final we drew PSV … again I couldn't chuck that one. It went to extra-time, but we are through to play Go-Ahead Eagles in the final.

When I looked at the squad at the start of the season, I thought that we could go deep into the Europa League. That was looking doubtful as we struggled to get past Cobh Ramblers. Real Sociedad looked tough on paper, but a 3-0 win in Spain made the 2nd leg a formality. Likewise Rangers who we beat 3-0 in the home leg, then absorbed the presure before scoring on the break to send the unwashed home early. Last 16 and it gets serious. Shalke was as hard as it gets. Both games were 1-0 home wins, so it went to penalties. 3-1 to us and onto PSG.

I thought that would be it. PSG are ridiculously strong. In Paris, they got the early goal and we were hanging on. Just before half time, Thiago Silva pulls down Assombalonga … Penalty … Missed ! We can't afford that. Second half and full back Leroy Owusu gets his first goal for Groningen a vital away goal. PSG are shaken. Gouriye adds a second. Unbelievable ! PSG go all out and Krychowiak gets an equaliser before Marquinhos gets sent off. It all happened in this one. Second leg and Einarsson gets an early goal for us. We absorb the pressure, but with the whistles blowing to end the game, Hiariej breks though to claim a second and we have a semi final. Everton are led by 35 year old Christiano Ronaldo. Jan Vertongen, Erik Lamella and Marcos Rojo are also in a star studded line up. Leading 2-0, we let Lukaku pull one back in injury time. Would that away goal be vital ? It looked like it when Troy Deeney scored deep into the second half. We went all out and, with Everton whistling for full time, Wouter Marinus latched onto a long ball and rounded the keeper.

We are through to the final against Hertha BSC, but here is the twist in the tail. My reputation is soaring into the top 100.

I've therefore got to be in with a chance of the vacant job at Hertha BSC (Pal Dardai has buggerd off to Dortmund !). I'll certainly be managing at the Europa League final, but I don't know which club it will be !

23 game gone. Norwich 14 points fop top. Man Utd unbeaten and not looking like losing any time soon.

Linfield have offered me a job. Not sure why there's a vacancy, they're top... it's a gaurenteed win, but Norwich would be more satisfying, even if it takes 2 or 3 seasons.

    A quandary..

So this is what happened in the Europa League final

So Groningen won, but was I the manager ?

Yes ! Hertha didn't appoint a new gaffer until 2 days after the final. Joachim Low got the gig ahead of me (I am 66 in the world and he is 14 so I didn't stand much chance). There wasn't much else on offer. Zagreb and Zenit offered chances to knock off a tricky letter, but Croatia might be a backwards step and my morals refuse to let me manage Zenit. Elche might be interesting having just been promoted to La Liga, but they are bankrupt, so I'll give that a miss. Botofoga might have been an option, but I've already done B. I decided to keep my eye on the jobs available and continue with Groningen.

Having won the League, the Europa league and the Johan Cruyff thigamyjig I had my eyes on a quadruple with the KNVB Bekker. Go-ahead should have been a walk over, but after a pulsating start where we did everything but score, Go-Ahead went up the other end and took the lead. Was it going to be one of those games ? It looked that way until right on halftime when Einarsson tapped in an equaliser. After that it was plain sailing and I added another cup to my personal trophy cabinet.

My star players were Suently Alberto (DC) and Omar Beyram (D RL), with Wouter Marinus and Ivan Markovich gettig 11 and 10 goals from midfield. I never did sort out the goalkeepers. I tried all 3 Jurjus, Telgenkamp and Bizot, but none gave any confidence and were prone to the odd clanger. Fortunately the rest of the team made up for that. Up front, Ujah (7 goals) and Assombalonga (8) disappointed hugely and it was Einarsson (13) and Gouriye (19) who ended up doing the bulk of the work. If I was staying, I'd need to sort that out.

Now it was job hunting, but very little was happening until this …..

Sao Paulo are out of all competitions except the league where we are amongst the favorites. The squad is much like Groningen, stong midfield and defense, but terrible up front and a total abomination in goal. I have 38 days to sort it out before the first game.

On the international front, with my own squad we had a comfortable home win over Peru, but with the excitement of Sao Paulo, I completely missed Gordon Strachan's retirement. I could have not qualified for the World Cup with Scotland rather than with Paraguay. I don't expect that Paul Lambert will last long !

Hm, reinforcements needed. We started strong and led the pack for quite some time, but a horrendous streak of defeats saw us falling way behind. 4th should put us into Europe next season though, the money will come in handy!

Thanks. I noticed my squad was severely lacking in work rate and determination, both of which I sorted in the summer transfer window. Preseason saw us humiliate Deportivo 5-0 before we kicked off the season with two convincing victories. It's gonna be a PEC season this year!

Don't worry about not deserving it, all that matters is that you have another letter checked off

    Where next? Back to England?!

Kingsley - Great stuff with Groningen, reps are improving all the time. Sao Paulo a decent job in Brazil, at least it's not in the lower leagues!

JLa - Hard luck with PEC, you may be able to crack it in the next year or two.

38 days should be plenty of time to get some decent strikers in Kingsley, Brazil must be filled with them, not so sure on decent keepers though mate! Outstanding stuff with Groningen too

No one would blame you at all for winning that title with Linfield kenghandi, that's what it's all about! Who wants to live in Norwich anyway?

I've a good feeling for Zwolle this season as well JLa, so don't let me down

The US of A.... Columbus Crew. I assume the aim here is to win the MLS Cup..... or is winning the Central Conference enough?

Joining 4 games into the season, on 4 points. Very big squad, yet one that has a shortage of strikers, meaning I'll need to offload a fair few midfielders or get creative with tactics (I tend to favour a 4-1-2-3 formation). I also have more foreigners than I can play, so I'll need to find some decent american players somehow.

I think that in the USA, the top few of the Conferences go into a knockout play-off. I would assume that you need to win that to be American Champions
Also, in Brazil, I assume that you need to win the Championship play-off between the top 4 rather than being top of the league.
Finally, what about Argentina. Is it win one of the Opening/Closing seasons (which do go down as titles) rather than the overall league (which isn't recorded as a title)

T done in one season. Great team, top facilities, healthy finances and most important no european football distraction. More jobs like this. The big three can't cope with smaller teams playing more fancy 4-3-3 tactic. I consider this as a bug.
    Spoiler!

Wales is a whole another story. After a rout (1:5) in Greece we lost the first place in group 6.
