It's looking tough. Other results will need to fall for you to give you a helping hand of that top 4 finish.

Rovers pocket pivotal points in derby

On Wednesday 21st April we travelled the 14 miles to play Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium and with Agüero playing at the top of his game and scoring another brace we won the match and collected three valuable points!

This is an essential win, if only because Tottenham Hotspur defeated Crystal Palace.

So Agüero was important again with his two goals. Steele, on the other hand, had very little to do and he was very unlucky to have Höjbjerg score in the dying seconds of the game.

We played so much better than we did against Middlesbrough, which is hard to explain. Perhaps it is because it's a derby? Or perhaps because it was all or nothing today?

Be that as it may, we attacked from the word go and Besic found the net within ten minutes, only it was ruled out for offside. But with 23 minutes on the clock, Agüero noticed that Hennesey was badly positioned and he scored the opener with a powerful shot.

There should have been more goals, and we ought to blame ourselves for only scoring one goal in the first half, but the second half was barely six minutes old when Agüero already doubled our lead with a fine drive. And the rest, as they say, is history.

That is to say, with two minutes remaining Besic did score our third goal with the assist by Agüero with a fine header. And just before the final whistle was blown Höjbjerg hit a fierce shot and he scored a consolation goal, but these two goals hardly mattered, except of course for Jason Steele.

Anyhow, we outclassed our opponents. With two goals and an assist Agüero was named Man of the Match, but Van Dijk also played brilliantly; his passing and tackling were absolutely magnificent.
    Spoiler!

So we are in third place now, but we have the weekend off while the other teams all get to play their games in hand. Suffice to say that anything can still happen - except that the Premier League title is obviously out of reach.

Also, our fixtures look very bad on paper, but then again sometimes miracles still happen...

    Spoiler!

That was an important derby win. You just have to keep plugging away and hope that United or Spurs slip up somewhere. The run in doesn't look too promising though.

***Manager cliche alert*** ..... perhaps not having the Champion's League commitments will be an advantage for you next season

Convincing derby win! Now sit back and watch the other teams catch up in games and then you know what needs to be done! I predict seven points from these last games and a 4th place finish!

Yay! That makes it 5 points from the last 4 games now imo, could be just what you need to finish 3rd but all depends on Spurs.

Not the best of games from Steele, letting in the only shot he had to deal with

That's exactly the plan. I am already sitting back!

    lol... no thanks!

Oh, and Tottenham's run-in looks even worse, if that's possible!

Steele was looking at the ref. He thought it was time for the final whistle.

    Superb win

I'd rather have the points on the board at this stage but they do have games in hand AND you have tough games - so maybe not ideal

But flip it around and if you can have very positive results on the run in then you should have destiny in own hands and can make it happen!

Latest results from the Premier League

This weekend's results could hardly have been better for us. Spurs lost at home to Chelsea, just as we hoped would happen. But what's more, Charlton held Man Utd to a shock draw!

However, Everton did manage to beat Reading and so the race for third and fourth place remains very exciting.

So we are still in third place, although Man Utd and Spurs have another game in hand. And next week it's Man Utd at Old Trafford! Obviously every game is crucial at this stage but if we can hold The Red Devils to a draw we might just have a chance.

    Spoiler!

A lot will depend on Sergio Agüero. Of the four players who joined the club at the beginning of this season Agüero is the one who has had the biggest impact with 19 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances.

Of course, Virgil van Dijk and Nemanja Matic have also been important for the club as has Dennis Praet. So you might say that all four new signings have delivered.
    Spoiler!

Good that results are going your way! It's really close for place 3 and 4 with four team in it.

Very good amount of assists on Wahlqvist and Clasie ten goals is also pretty good!

If Aguero gets injured you’re fecked!

Im somewhat disappointed by Matic rating and expected more from Praet

    Decent numbers from Clasie

Well - results couldn’t be any better!

    It’s now in your hands

You must take the opportunity given . . . .

    Decent numbers from Clasie.
Praet did not start well this season. Initially he spent a lot of time on the bench, as backup for Matic. But Matic did not perform well as midfielder (hence his low rating) and Praet's rating as sub was below par.

However, since Praet has become our default left midfielder he is performing well and scoring goals and his rating is going up.
And Matic also plays very well as DMC when Besic is unavailable. So Matic is now on the bench more often but playing superbly as DMC when needed.

    Rovers ready for Man Utd

On Friday Spurs beat Reading at the Madejski Stadium while Everton defeated Stoke at the bet365 Stadium. Man City and Arsenal both lost again but they had already all but dropped out of the race for Champions League places.

Chelsea and Liverpool both won their games against Leicester and Charlton respectively.

So everyone is now eagerly looking forward to Monday's clash at Old Trafford. A six-pointer if ever there was one!

Sunderland are now at the very bottom of the Premier League table and we will be playing them at Ewood Park two days after we play Man Utd. So if we can at least hold Man Utd to a draw that would be fantastic!

I don’t know why but I think whichever team wins this will take that last CL Place

Guaranteed European football pretty much tied up now as well

I think you at least need a draw at Old Trafford to stay in the race since they have a game in hand and you still have Liverpool and Arsenal to face.

Yes, but after having played Champions League football this year (because we ended 4th last season) it would be walking backwards on the stairs if we ended 5th or 6th.
