    Attendances

Is there any logic to it?!

I noticed with my Braga team - we qualified for Champions League and Barcelona came to visit. The stadium was only about 60 % full. We usually have more supporters in regular league games, what gives? Shouldn't the fans be excited to see the big guns visiting, rather than sub-standard Portuguese sides? No offence Portugal, but besides Porto, Benfica and Sporting, the league isn't all that!

No. There is no logic to it. Cup games nearly always get lower attendances than league games.

Doesn't it have something to do with the reps of the cups themselves too?

As Man City in the Alphabet game we played United, top division, in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Gate? 32000. Weird considering City had a max of 68000 at the time.

Was it mid-week? It's easier for tourists to come on a weekend.
