So I recently started a two player network game with my mate Andrew (Kope22 on here) that I decided to livestream on the Champman FB page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/0102CM/) each time we play.

The idea was to build a decent fanbase that would join in and watch us. And in time those that are commited to the streams will be invited to join our session and play against us.

We started our save game on the latest Saturn v5 patch and each picked our favourite team in England. So Andrew took Liverpool and I took Spurs as they are the clubs we support IRL.

There were some rules set up to make it more of a challenge. First of all: no wibwobbing was allowed as well as any cheat tactics (less than 3 defenders and fully centralized). Second of all was that we had a restriction in tranfers. Per transfer window we would be allowed to sign 5 players max whether they be buys, loans or free transfer. This would severly limit the capability to go around and buy a dream team from the start and would require us to tactically plan our buying and selling.

We took 4 sessions took complete our first season (we streamed every Wednesday and Sunday evenings) and here are the results.

Transfers

On the transfermarket we each adopted a different strategy. Andrew only brought in 3 of his max 5 transfers during the summer window spending nearly £ 42m while I got all 5 transfers I was allowed and spend £ 93m. I also sold 2 players while Andrew kept his squad intact. In the winter Andrew sold 6 players for the sum of £ 64m and brought in 4 more new faces for the sum of £ 88m. I on the other had nothing left to spend and although I offloaded 3 more players and sold for a total of £ 37.5m, I couldn't invest in new or better players in the winter.

Premier League

In the league I fell behind quickly with some unexpected and undeserved draws and soon I was 11 points behind leaders Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. After the winter break though my form picked up and I had a 17 game unbeaten run before Man City 'champmanned' me at home to end that streak. Andrew had suffered some unlucky loss of points as well and so did Chelsea and Arsenal and everything crept back together. In the end we went into final matchday with the table looking like this:

That's right. Three teams tied at the top followed by the number 4 at one point. In theory all 4 teams could win it on the final matchday and you're never going to guess what the last fixture had in store for us.....

You couldn't not have written a better scenario with me playing Andrew at Anfield on the final matchday. In the end he took a deserved, but flattered 3-0 win over me as I had to crawl back from a 1st minute penalty given out of nowhere. Funny how CM always gives you bullshit in the games that matter the most. But Andrew won it and so did Chelsea win their last game, but Andrew clinched the title based on a better goaldifference. I fell back to 3rd, but could have even be passed by the Gooners and get 4th if they didn't lose to West Ham away.

In the end Andrew deserved the title, but it was mine to win. Getting superkeepered at Leicester by Schmeichel and a 1-2 home loss to Man City where I got totally champmanned costed me the lead I had. And so I lost it on the last day, but all props go to Andrew who did very well. :ok:

League Cup

In the League Cup Andrew saw an early exit when he was beaten at Newcastle in the 3rd round. For me the run lasted all the way to the final where I had to face Man City. I completely dominated them in the first half where Kane scored a hattrick and basically sealed the win for us. Man City tried in the second half, but we held firm and collected our first trophy.

FA Cup

Andrew was knocked out of the FA Cup early when he got champmanned in the 4th round away to Wolves. I on the other hand reached all the way to the final where we had to face our archrivals Arsenal. It became a match with two sides. First half I was the better team and should have scored. In the second half Arsenal were the better side, but we ended fulltime 0-0. In extra time there were chances for both sides, but just when everyone thought it was going to be a penalty shootout, Lacazette scored 1 minute before time to give Arsenal the FA Cup win. And he left us behind gutted.

Champions League

Andrew got through the first groupstage with Juventus, Besiktas and Club Brugge on a 6-0-0 record. In the second groupstage he drew Atlético, Dortmund and PSG in a very tough group. He went into the last game in 2nd place away to Dortmund who took the lead and looked to overtake Andrew's 2nd place. But a penalty 5 mins before time saved Andrew and saw his Liverpool go through to the quarterfinals. There he faced Barcelona who beat him 3-1 at Camp Nou, but an amazing game at Anfield saw Liverpool through to the semi's with a 3-0 win. In those semi's he lost out to Bayern, drawing 0-0 at home and losing 2-0 away which ended his CL dream.

Europa League

In the Europa League I again went all the way and reached the final in which again I faced my archrivals Arsenal just four days after our devastating FA Cup final loss. We were determined to get revenge and we got it with a commanding 3-0 win over the Gooners to claim the Europa League.

Best Players

For Andrew Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firminho performed the best with the former being his topscorer with 18 goals. Andrew did struggle a lot with scoring and had his goals widely spread out across the team. He will certainly be looking for a good striker in the summer.

And for me Harry Kane was an absolute beast with 50 goals in 59 games and became the Premier League's topscorer with 32 goals. Christian Eriksen was in great form as well and fell 1 assist shy of 20 in the season.

So in the end Andrew took the league in dramatic fashion and I won the League Cup and Europa League, but was beaten in the FA Cup final by Arsenal. All in all a very good season for both and we're happy with our results. Andrew will be in the Champions League again and hopefully so will I if I win the playoffs for it. I also have the European Supercup to play against Man Utd who surprisingly won the Champions League after penalties against Bayern. Andrew will play the Charity Shield against FA Cup winners Arsenal.

Now we're going to do the summer business for next season where we can each sign 5 players again. We're also going to open up the game for guest players who've been watching our streams regulary. I have a feeling that drkshadow1 and fat_wagtail on here will be among the ones interested as some others who have regulary tuned in.

That's it for now and stay tuned for the next update!

Cheers! :ok:

Nice write up mate. Was a very frustrating season for me, to many games in which i couldn't score hence the draws. But all in all a fun season and a good start from both of us. :ok:

Great write up and was fun watching ray lose his shit over some of the games. I have a feeling Andrew may have had the same reaction when he played his matches he had some crazy results go against him!
