Hey guys,

So thought I'd try installing this game with the hope that it would work on my netbook. I've gone through the video below and had no trouble until the 4:22 point, when you have to double click the CM0102 icon to install the game. Basically after I double click on the icon I get the AutoPlay window and click the run autorun.exe option. After that nothing happens.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN0K0qHKwgs&context=C42eaab5ADvjVQa1PpcFNGYW7zvNh4ElGrYbsvobsN tLc6YH1o7Bk=

Bit stumped really. If I could get some help that would be great.

You tried disabling User Access Controls (UAC)?

Or right click the cm0102.iso, select Run As Administrator and try again

hi There

Have been following the tutorial in one of the forums to download the game without having to burn to a CD. I have got to step 3, but when i try to run AutoRun, nothing actually happens. I get a warning to allow it to run from my computer, which i say allow to, and that is all happens. Not sure if i have done something wrong. I downloaded trial version of UltraISO ( maybe i need full version ), i extracted files and mounted to my computer. The icons are not the same as in the tutorial but i think that is just because differnet windows ( maybe i am wrong again ). I would love help, i am not a computer wiz or anything so any help in lay mans terms would be much appreciated
Thanks
JB

Hi, I'm trying to install CM 01/02, however the Setup.exe file doesn't load, I looked around for a solution to this but couldn't find anything.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I did once have CM 00/01 installed on here and that worked fine.

This is how I got it to install on Vista (I had the same issue, no activity after clicking Autorun): 1. Turned off User Account Control (at Control Panel). 2. Mounted the ISO with Virtual Drive (not needed, you may do same from CD, but it's nice without). 3. Right clicked and Opened/explored CD to view files. 4. Right clicked AutoRun and chose "run as Administrator" & the program installed. However, when starting a game I got a "not enough memory" error. 5. Installed 242.exe patch from SI (3.9.68 update). This corrected the memory error. I hope this helps you all, it took me forever to get it right. This was the second time I install it on Vista but I don't remember this much trouble the first time... perhaps some change in Windows affected it all, not sure... Enjoy!

If you're having too much with following the tutorials and tips, you could just burn the iso to a disc and run it that way.

Go to My Computer, right click on the icon for the CM0102 disk and select Explore. Then find Autorun.exe, right click on that and click Run As Administrator.do th

Also Google 'Disable User Access Controls' or 'Disable UAC' and follow any tutorial you find if you haven't already.

If you have Norton or McAfee antivirus install try to temporary disable them (goddamn awful software)

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, there's a lot to take in on this site.

I've downloaded the game, mounted it as a new drive, clicked autorun and then install shield starts. It goes quickly up to 99, then reaches 100%, sits there for a while with the game logo centre screen, then disappears and nothing more happens.

Is this a common problem? I'm on windows 7, I've run it as administrator, put the compatibility as windows 98 etc. Annoying to be so close .

Any help is welcome, thank you.

Have you run the Virtual Drive (or the software for the virtual drive) as administrator too?

morten harkett
01-11-12, 12:11 PM
Not sure what you mean, I've followed the tutorial, I have it mounted on clonedrive, within that clonedrive I have tried running the setup normally and as administrator, either way I choose the language, install shield preparation box races to 99%, eventually gets to 100% then sits there for a while, with the game logo midscreen, then it vanishes and nothing more happens, installshield never actually starts up.

Again, thanks, for the benefit of anyone with the same problem, it worked when I copied the files to a real disc and used that instead of the virtual drive. I also tried it on another laptop and that worked with the virtual drive.

I wanted to let people know, because there are plenty of similar threads on the net where people just say "It's ok, I sorted it myself" and they never explain how.

I download CM0102 to my PC and extracted it using winrar and mounted it to drive G I think, using ultraiso so now I can view all the files.
However when I click autorun as directed in the tutorial (I'm not great with computers, bear with me) it asks me for permission to run setup.exe which I allow, and then nothing happens. Like just nothing :(
Can anyone help me to get the game working? My PC has the Vista operating system.

Had to do a fresh reinstall but for some reason neither autorun or setup are working for me. I've tried running both as admin, I've made sure I have no other windows open, I've added both the exe's to the list of allowed programs through firewall, I've increased my virtual memory and restarted my laptop, I've even deleted it and downloaded the game again.

Re-installed the game countless times in the past without any hassle until now so at a bit of a loss...

ISSUE RESOLVED!:

http://s24.postimg.org/y2vb5qkvp/installissue.jpg

I must admit I'm not particularly good at keeping on top of all the junk that builds up on my laptop: it's one of those that when you turn it on you get a million-and-one things popping up like 'internet add-ons', so-called 'security updates', 'system-scanners', "did you know your computer could be under attack?!", Norton this DivX that etc (might as well accept that a lot of it's probably from downloading porn from dodgy torrent sites )

Anyway, potentially something that could be added to the FAQ section on the off-chance that someone else is ever struggling to get the autorun/setup to start (couldn't see anything there about it myself)

I had very similar issues but with 64bit Windows 7. No matter how much I tried either via disc or by mounting the .iso file, the game just wouldn't run the installation set up.

It seems as though something had messed up in my profile somehow. I don't know if it'll help you on Windows 8 but I actually created a new account (call it 'test') and strangely enough, the installation kicked in straight away. Once I installed it, I switched back to my own profile and was able to run the game through the program files (x84) folder.

Hope that helps?

Hi!
I need somebody's help! I installed the autumn update 2013 and then decided I wanted to go back to the original database. I
uninstalled the game and tried to reinstall but the autorun feature was not working. I've done the whole
uninstall/reinstall business many times with no problems. After a few days of troubleshooting I got the autorun feauture to
work but now more problems. When I get past the language choice a small set up box appears. That gets to 100% and then another box appears saying that the installshield engine has a problem. That won't allow me to complete the installation as it shuts down. I've
been on numerous sites (including the technical support of this forum) trying to find a fix. I've tried literally
everything (Startup boot, run as admin, change compatibility, update installshield engine, update windows installer etc...)
I can't think/find anything else to fix this problem, any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi guys,

I've got the same issue of absolutely nothing happening when I click setup.exe. It starts a process in task manager called SETUP.EXE*32 but nothing happens. I've been through this thread countless times and I've tried all the above. Disabling antivirus, disabling UAC, closing my browser and burning it to a disc. No joy with any of those. Has anyone got any other suggestions? I'm using win7 on 64bit.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm having this exact problem. Any more ideas??

Hi,

I bought a cd with the game on from eBay from the admins of this site. Put in the CD autorun comes up, select run and get the windows prompt asking to allow it to make changes, select yes then nothing happens.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try close Chrome browser and running it again. Had that on my own machine recently.

The other option is to go to the disc drive, right click, select open and find setup.exe. Right click on that and select Run As Administrator.

Newer machines have processes that weren't available when the game was made so there are a few things that can be an issue. There's a thread dedicated to autorun, playing with no cd issues

I have tried all this to no avail still! ARGHH!!!

UPDATE: I have no clue what was blocking it but I removed everything in my task manager barring the SYSTEM stuff and it installed fine.

I had also problems with auto run or setup using deamon tools. to solve the problem is to extract everthing to a map and then open the setup then you will install the game easy.

Sorry for my bad english is somebody dont understand what im saying send me a pm

Hey guys!

I discovered an answer. Something was really blocking the instal. In my case, was an app from HP in my computer, for some reason. (windows 10 here!!)

To discover what is blocking your installation, open the setup.exe of cm0102.

It's not oppening. Go to the task manager, and in the 'details' part, go to the setup.exe. Right click on it, and click 'analyse waiting chain' (something like that, mine is in portuguese) and you will see wich program is blocking the installation. Just go back to the task manager, search for it, and end the process. Done!!

Hope everything is clear.. :)

A solution could be to uninstall the patch and then run it again, this error I believe may come sometimes after running patcher more than once

Iv just downloaded champman 99/00 and 00/01. There in my downloaded folder but when I try to extract them, nothing seems to happen. Is there a tutorial anywhere that can talk me through what to do or what program to use to get to set up for the game?

close down browsers and any instant messaging services (skype etc) as for some reason this clashes with Autorun

Try this which another member suggested and seems to work well for Windows 10 as well

Just installed this on windows 8.1 and encountered the issue with setup.exe hanging. Here is how to resolve.

1. Browse to the disk contents by going to the drive letter where the disk is (either ISO or cd-rom).
2. Right click on SETUP.EXE, go to Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and choose Run this program in Windows XP (service pack 2) mode and tick the box "Run this program as an administrator".
3. Double click on setup.exe
4. If nothing happens, open up the task manager by right clicking on the task bar and choosing Task Manager or press control + shift + escape at the same time.
5. Go to the Details tab on the task manager and sort by name. You are looking for SETUP.EXE. If there are multiple ones running then kill them all. Click on setup.exe in the list and press the delete key or the end task button to kill the process.
6. Run setup.exe again as per step 3 - you only want one install process running.
7. Back in the task manager, Right click on setup.exe and hit the Analyze Wait Chain option. This will tell you what is preventing the install from running. Find that process and kill it.

In my case it was SetPoint.exe, a logitech program that controls my wireless mouse/keyboard software. As soon as I killed it the install launched.

I'm on Windows 10
I'd downloaded the .iso file
I'd tried using Virtual Clone Drive and Daemon Tools Lite
I'd tried closing anti-virus software
I'd tried with Chrome shut down
I'd tried whilst hopping on one leg and patting my head...

Then, I realised that I too have an HP printer...

Task Manager
All HP tasks closed down

Hey presto!
The install works!! :peace:

Muchas gracias

When I click autorun after mounting the game, nothing happens after I have clicked yes to run setup.exe

Hi,

First of all thanks for helping with this.

Unfortunately my system seems to be different to yours? I get so far on the list of instructions but can't proceed further as I don't have the tabs available you mention.

When I get to task 4 I open the tasak manager but there is no 'Details' tab as described. Instead I have 'processes' and clicking on that brings up a list including numerous setup.exe*32 files which I then end the task for and then complete task 6. Task 7 again causes issues as when I right click on setup.exe*32 there is no 'Analyze wait chain' option. I have the following to choose from -

Open File Location
End Process
End Process Tree
Debug
UAC Virtualization
Create Dump File
Set Priority
Set Affinity
Properties
Go to Service(s)

I'm running Windows 7 Premium on a laptop that must be 10 plus years old.

When I try to "set up a new game", it stalls/crashes on installing game data section.
I am running as administrator. I'm using Windows 10.
In terms of comparability mode, if I select service pack 2 or service pack 3 it stalls. IF i selxct XP/ME it crashes and restarts.
In task manager there's no setup.exe

Any ideas?
