Hey Fellas.

Found a download on my netbook yesterday of the updated pundit-file that was released some time ago (I have no idea when) and I thought it might be a good time to try and update it once more. I looked at the most recent pundit-file and saw that a lot of mistakes were made.

There are two ways to do this:
- Start from scratch
- Continue with the latest pundit

I'd like people who are finnish to be in charge of all finnish media, and people who are italian to be in charge of all italian media and so on.

Help us out by writing down some media names from your country and what they cover (a specific league or team or a national team)

This is what we need:
Daily National papers
LOCAL radio stations
Sunday papers
National radio stations
National TV stations
Local TV stations
Websites
Daily Newspapers
Magazines

Example of how to do this:
"Hey swede, u can add Aftonbladet to the pundit as a national newspaper (Sweden) that covers both swedish premier division and first division".

Lots of errors for swedish media, either radio stations that has never existed or doesn't exist anymore, magazines that don't write about particular teams, magazines that don't cover sports etc. I'm guessing that there are mistakes in other parts of the world aswell - also I'm quite positive that english-speaking countries and their media probably needs to be "refreshed".

I've never looked either.
The one on the database I am currently using only had English and Scottish clubs.

Just downloaded one from here (http://www.championshipmanager.info/lcm-global-cm0102-punditeng) though which has all countries.

I don't think starting again would be the way to go.
Way too much of an undertaking I'd say.

I can give info on some teams but wouldn't be able to over the whole of England I wouldn't think!

Great idea though. Another fresh lease of life for the game.

Question: Does the FM series not use a pundit file? I've had a quick google search but can't find one. I'll keep looking or does anyone have a relatively new FM that they can have a look in?

Yeah. I'm sure it's somewhere. I don't hve any FM on this computer so can't help with the search.

It was all edt files and the like by the looks of it.

Glad to see that people are interested in helping out! I understand that we need at least 5 gents to somewhat cover Britain, the rest of the countries should be a bit simpler. I'll show my progress in this thread and then whoever wants to help out can just add info as we go along.

The first thing I will do is add "Sportbladet", "Dagens Nyheter", "Svenska Dagbladet", "Expressen" and "Svenska Dagbladet" as magazines that cover all the action in the premier division and the 1st division in Sweden. I will post that up tomorrow for everyone to see.

Couple of points -

-I've added a little logbook.txt file - just to add username and what country is done

- Must use LONG NAME of club, short name no good. Has to match database.

Should we put a check in? Have done below, could be handy.

Match media to teams.
Which german newspapers write about Bayern München?
Which scottish radio stations support Falkirk?

We write down what we know and put it in the pundit-file. Check it out yourself, not that difficult at all to understand it :ok:

Indeed Fods. Nothing happens as such KDS - thats it nothing - the teams are just ignored. The club names will need an update but I doubt many of the club long names have changed much.



To update all club names of a club in Notepad in one go, do this:

- go to Edit
- Select Replace
- type (or copy and paste) the incorrect version on the long name of the club into the Find What field
- type the correct long name (as per ODB Mar 2012 database) into the Replace With field
- press Replace All


Gotta be really careful with repeat or shortnames using the above method i.e. changing Dinamo to Dynamo Test will turn all the clubs with Dinamo as there old name into something like Dynamo Test Kiev or Dynamo Test Zagreb etc.

I suggest you copy from notepad to word and then to excel (sooooo much easier, trust me), then the same way back when you're done. One type of media at a time :ok:

That does sound better actually. Don't think it would have been worth me uploading a new file for each little bit that I do.
Hope to do a fair bit but it may well come in bursts so better if one person/a few people do the updating.
Might be able to have a look tonight whilst watching the football.
Although it is a Soccer Manager match day so might get engrossed in that!

should do the trick, the point is that when you're working with LOTS of info excel really comes in handy. You can still do this decently in Microsoft Word or Spreadsheet (or download openoffice) but excel makes it so much easier.

Just a reminder, Ireland has been covered, but Wales, England, Scotland and NI havent been done.

btw, when you're editing stuff, copy ALL of the media from the pundit (for example, all media from english LOCAL_RADIO) and then simply add the local radio stations and local tv stations in your fake-excel. It's a good way of making sure you aren't adding duplicates

The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph and The Independent are respectable broadsheets that I would probably include even though they aren't as high in sales

LOCAL radio stations:

I'd go with BBC regional radio stations for this one, you can find a list on the BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/stations

Be careful because that includes Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish local stations too so make sure you're only getting the English ones.

Sunday Mirror
Sunday Times

I'd likewise include the sister papers of those broadsheets I mentioned above, The Observer, The Sunday Telegraph and The Independent on Sunday respectively.

National radio stations:

BBC Radio 5 live and talkSPORT are the two major sports radio stations in the UK.

National TV stations:

Sky Sports News is the only major sports TV station. You could also have BBC News as another major station

Local TV Stations:

We don't really have local TV stations, however there are regional news reports on the major stations of BBC and ITV. You can find most of these on their respective websites.

I tend to only browse the websites of newspapers and TV stations for sports news so you can find them for any of those that I've already mentioned above. You could also include ESPN I guess.

Not sure what you mean about 'Daily Newspapers', maybe local? Well you're probably best just searching by the town/city of the team you're doing and finding what newspapers are there.

Magazines I don't know about.

Someone mentioned elsewhere (might have been in the chat box thing on the home page) that the most up to date version of this comes with the latest data update? Well, it doesn't... unless for some bizarre reason it's just not there when I download the march update

Again if someone could clarify whether the pundit file in the downloads section is actually the most recent one? It's just the dates don't match up...

According to the posts above here it says the last version came on 27-08-12 but the one in the downloads says it was uploaded 18-05-12 and the file there seems to be from back in 2001 anyway

Found a download on my netbook yesterday of the updated pundit-file that was released some time ago (I have no idea when) and I thought it might be a good time to try and update it once more. I looked at the most recent pundit-file and saw that a lot of mistakes were made.

There are two ways to do this:
- Start from scratch
- Continue with the latest pundit

I'd like people who are finnish to be in charge of all finnish media, and people who are italian to be in charge of all italian media and so on.

It seems to work sometimes for me, but usually I get generic stuff like "local newspapers say" in the EPL.

Please add Twitter or "Social Media" or Arsenal Fan Tv or "Fans/Supporters Channel" or "A recent Twitter poll said", I always liked the social media feed on FM game even though i prefer CM0102 :)

Edit: So I checked the pundit file in notepad and there were a few famous media sources missing. So I made my own English League focused one if anyone wants to try it out :) (I added the big websites, newspapers, radio stations, magazines, tv, and some social media/fans channels) that most of us know, and removed the non-EPL local sources Ive never heard of)




You can have a look at it in notepad if u wanna add the sources to the pundit.cfg file for next update to modernize the media flavour, whoever is updating the original file, whoever created it if he is still around

Im going to try testing it now going on holiday ingame, if anyone wants to check it out and could give feedback if i made errors thanks

No, you can use the commentary file (events_eng.cfg) with save files as well. It works as soon as it's in the right folder (the Data folder). Unlike tactic files.
