Well, the title speaks for itself. This is a long challenge, for the bravest http://champman0102.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

You are to load 5 leagues, namely English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. You start as Juventus manager and your (first)aim is to win the championship with the national players only! Only then are you allowed (AND REQUIRED) to move on to ANOTHER country and do the same with another club! Once you win 5 domestic titles with 5 different clubs in 5 different countries using ONLY National players you're done!!

RULES

- in order to fulfill the "nationals only" requirement you HAVE TO have NO foreign players in your club (which means reserves are included) from the first to the last official match in that season...that means you cannot do it with anyone in the first season as most teams have at least one foreigner (EVEN if you get rid of the foreigners before the first official match, the first season at a new club still doesn't count,i.e. everything you win counts as "with foreigners")

- no cheat tactics (centralized-less than 3 defs and/or no wing players)

- no month-to-month contracts cheat or any other cheat - if you have the need to bend the rules and rape the game just to win a challenge, go get a life!

- use March 2009 Update, Tapanified or not

- second nationalities count as well

-you have 25 seasons to finish the challenge

POINTS

WITH foreigners

Domestic title - 100 pts
Domestic cup - 50 pts
Champions League - 300 pts
Uefa Cup - 200 pts

WITHOUT foreigners

Domestic title - 1000 pts
Domestic cup - 400 pts
Champions League - 800 pts
Uefa Cup - 600 pts

League Cups do not count either way

SCREENSHOTS

- anything to prove the points you win
- squad list to prove you have (and had at the beginning of the given season) no foreigners (reserves included)

You can choose to create the game yourself, or download a pre-loaded save

Made a start on this, did very well with Juve, then got to EPL with Spurs. Now spent a whole year with no job applying for everything in every league, and getting no offers. No one likes to hire English managers it would seem. England failed miserably in the world cup, and have now offered me the position. Frustrating that no club will take me on in the second divisions of France and Germany. Will take England job and apply for everything that turns up.

Are there points deductions for this for using March 2012 given we have no current access to the March 2009 data? (One who has these files upload them if they can)

Craig Forrest

Use a save game editor to see what your CA/PA is and to set a second nationality for yourself if you want (but only once).... there are known issues regarding applying for and getting jobs in different countries..... many of us who have done this challenge have ended up taking over teams in the lowest divisions because we couldn't find jobs anywhere else..... although by the time I got to Spain as my last country, my choice of Spanish nationality had paid off and I got the RM job.....

....of course the first time I tried this challenge I picked Canadian as my nationality and that got me nowhere :D

I have the March 2009 update at home and will upload it when I get off work (or sometime later tonight)

No, you can't use the March 2012 update.

Can you upload the save for us to have a look at please mate? I'm rather hesitant to allow people to edit their CA/PA and nationality on this challenge when others weren't given that luxury. If it is the only way though I wiil.

I persevered with this and have been given a job with Balma, in the French National. Terrible sqaud, avoided relegation and managed to make signings the next season. No editing has been done, I am English in the game. I am now looking forward to life in the second division.

I attempted this back in March 09 and had a corrupted save. I am going for this again however I am not claiming points as it's personal and I will be using March 2012.

If others would rather I posted updates in "how are you doing" I'll understand.

Never got around to starting after all, busy summer lol

Just starting with March 12 now not too much to shift. Namely Vidal, Vucinic and Lichtsteiner

So with my first season over and wholesale changes and all foreigners departed I am looking at retaining the Serie A Title. We finished 1 point ahead of Milan in what was a tight battle with them throughout. Thankfully they lost the game in hand and we won the title by just 1 point.

We also triumphed in Europe by winning the Europa League after a 1-0 victory over Schalke.

The squad will need strengthening over the Summer as players are complaining about lack of depth I have £32M at the moment so that should help, although I don't want to spend for the sake of spending so Juve don't struggle when I hopefully depart at the end of my second season.

I am pleased with the double as it'll boost my reputation for when I depart.

Started this challenge, 1st season won serie a, then got the leeds job and won the prem 2nd season. after this found it hard to get a job because of nationality, in the end had to take the offenbach job in germany and progressed threw the leagues to win the top divison. then sturggled to get a job in spain or france. Currently managing rouen in france top division hope to complete this soon.

You have to stay with clubs for a minimum of three seasons in the top flight mate except Juventus where you spend two seasons which I don't think you've done unfortunately mate.

1 thing i dont get:

One can finish this challenge in min of 10 years (first years dont count thingie) but it is better for score to play for 25 years? if you get to your last club/nation, you would keep a foreigner till the 25th season and get points every year.

Hope i dont sound too ambitious... check my challenge scores if you think that

yes but when you can't find players of the proper nationality through the game's search function you are allowed to get help from other sources... I got the job as manager of Uruguay once and apart from the stars I couldn't find anyone else....

AMC

Just checked and that is the case, but he's had three seasons with foreigners despite winning the league in the first season. For season 2 he should have been Nationals only but he played another two seasons with foreigners and put down points he won.

His first two seasons in Germany also has points accumulated for foreigners before going Nationals only in his third season there.

Nothing in the rules that says you MUST have no foreigners by the second season.... it just says that you can't move on until you've won the league with all nationals.... so as long as he completes the challenge within the 25 year time frame, he can win and collect points with foreign players until he gets all nationals and wins the league and must move on

AMC
16-06-13, 03:24 PM
Maybe I'm getting confused with the Roman General challenge, it's been ages since I played this.

It does say your first season even if you get rid of all foreigners is counted as your foreign season so you must be only able to count points for one season with foreigners.

I'll PM Churky seeing he came up with this challenge for clarification.

Craig Forrest
16-06-13, 03:43 PM
I disagree.... that just means you have to play a minimum of one season with foreign players

The way I imagined this part of the rules is the following;
1. you can't move until you've won the league with nationals only and you have to finish it within 25 seasons
2. you can play as many seasons as you want with foreigners and you get the points for every season(as per "WITH foreigners" points chart).

In Roman General, however, you must not use ineligible players in the second season onward. You have to use the first season to clear everyone out and sign the players of allowed nationalities.

I'm not sure if I should be the authority over this since I'm not involved in the challenges anymore, but that's the way I intended for it to be played. I think, at least. :D It was a long time ago.

I don't remember there being a 3 season rule..... it's 2 seasons as far as I can tell...... you can't do it in your first season at a club but if you've cleared out all the foreign players by the start of season 2 and manage to win the league then you are technically done in that country..... it won't usually happen but I suppose it's possible.

This challenge was setup over four years ago now and as neither me or CF were in charge of the challenges then I can merely speculate as to why there was this loop hole so to speak, and that it was merely an oversight.

If you look at the Roman General challenge (challenge 15) you will see you only get points for 3 seasons at a club, no matter how much time you spend at one, so it looks like they did realise and made it fairer.

Too late to change it now, I did it over 4 years ago and two forums ago and have no idea how many seasons I did it in, and it'd be the same for others.

Beginning this long long challenge...
When you say second nationality allowed, what it means strictly?
If a player had 10 argentinian caps and italian second nationality?
Who completed the challenge without editing CA/PA and a second nationality?
What happen if I win the league the first year without any foreigners?

Second nationality means that if the player's second nationality is correct then you can use him, even if he has caps for another country

If your CA/PA is high enough then you won't need to change anything... however it is difficult to get foreign jobs in this game, even if you are rated as the best manager in the world

First season with Juventus : 0pt!!!
Finishing third. Inter and Milan AC are unplayable with my default tactic... Inter finished with only 1 defeat...
Losing 3-0/ 0-3 against Milan AC...But I think I will be there next year...Only with italians!

A question: Do you have to finish the season with Juventus if you are Champion very soon in the season? Or you can change club and country before the 34 games played?

Redknapp69

Ok, another question, If i sign in a poor little club in a country, can I apply to another job in this country (bigger club) or in another country?
What is the best way to sign in another country, resign as manager of Juventus or continue with Juve waiting for a new job?
Last question, if I win the domestic cup in second div, same points?
Thanks!

Craig Forrest
09-04-14, 11:10 AM
yes you have to finish the season

once you join a club you stay and don't move until you've won the top league with nationals only

I always plays with clubs from the lower division, so the challenge was to begin with Juventus! I didn't edit CA/PA and don't have second nationality. I think we've always played it as a minimum of 2 years in the top division.... 1st year in top division counts as a "with foreigners year", 2nd onwards counts as "Nationals Only" (as long as you only have national players of course)

Season #4 is over, and there are good feelings about the squad.

Got a huge amount of money selling non-German players (Kerzakhov 11.75M, Asulin 16M, Basturk 3M, Lustenberger 4.1M, Ivanschitz 8.25M, Degen 10.75M, Sommer 3.9M...) and signed very good players during the season:
- Frölich (GK, 20 yo, 120K from Sporting Lisbon). Played 27 matches.
- Ziemer (SC, 26 yo, 1.4M from Kaiserslautern). Scored 20 goals. Bundesliga Top Goalscorer.
- Harnik (F RLC, 24 yo, 2.7M, from Standard Liege)
- ...

Finished 3rd in Bundesliga, 4 points behind winners (Schalke), so qualified for Champions League, which was the main goal when I got the job.

For the upcoming season the squad only needs a few adjustements. Already signed Boateng (D RL, 20M) and Ben-Hatira (AM RLC, 29M).

I hope this is gonna be my last season at Hertha.

None of them: Wolfsburg.

Bayern finished 4th.

By the way, this is not going to be my last season at Hertha. I've qualified for German Cup Final (vs Schalke), and will play Chelsea in Champions League QF, but in Bundesliga I´m far from Bayern and Bremen.

Tactic is not working as it should.

I´m playing a 4-3-3, but my defenders were very weak. This new season I think I´ve fixed the problem, signing 2 new defenders (Compper & Hummels). Let´s see.

So I've just completed my first season in charge at Juventus.

Serie A

Serie A got off to a slow start but we were never really in any trouble. We finished with a record of 22 wins, 8 draws and 4 losses which gave us 74 points and saw us win the league by seven points. We also sealed the league with one game to go which was nice as it gave me an opportunity to use a second string of players and see what I had in my reserves.

http://i.imgur.com/3vcBKOW.png

Italian Cup

We were matched against Lazio in the second round of the Italian Cup and a fantastic 6-1 win on aggregate (which included a 4-0 win at their place) meant we would face Genoa in the quarter finals. We had a bit of a nightmare against Genoa in the first leg; we suffered a 2-0 defeat despite being at home which gave them two away goals. In the return leg we had recovered the two goal deficit within 19 minutes but were reduced to ten men shortly before the first half came to a close. We battled bravely to try and get the third goal but a 71st minute strike from Ferrari for Genoa saw us looking down the barrel of the gun and it looked like we were going out until Marchionni hit a 90th minute strike to put us through on away goals!

Our reward for such a dramatic win was a tricky semi-final against Inter Milan. We squeaked a 1-0 win in the first leg thanks to Giovinco and I expected a tougher challenge in the second leg; fortunately for us Júlio César had a nightmare and we ran out 4-0 winners to set up a final against Udinese.

The first leg of the final would be played away at Udinese which gave us a fantastic opportunity to grab an away goal. In the end we managed three away goals as a Giovinco brace and a Marchionni strike gave us a 3-0 advantage going in to the second leg. We had one foot over the line and just needed a strong performance at home to give me my second piece of silverware...

http://i.imgur.com/gLD4JiD.png

Champions League

My first game in charge at Juventus pitted me against Rangers in the Champions League 3rd Round Qualifiers. The first leg was away and a nervy 1-1 draw gave us an away goal advantage. The second leg was another tense affair and neither side were able to find a goal which meant we squeezed through on away goals.

Compared to the qualifier, we were a different team in the group stage. We topped the first phase with 6 wins out of 6 against Dinamo Zagreb, Lyon and CFR Cluj. In the second phase we topped the group again in a group consisting of Liverpool, Zenit and PSV. This gave us a ticket to a quarter final game vs. Werder Bremen with the first leg being away from home. We got off to a terrible start and were 1-0 down inside two minutes. Things got worse and we were 3-0 down after 61 minutes; it looked like we were done before the second leg. However, goals from Camoranesi (67'), Giovinco (87') and Iaquinta (90') meant we had three away goals and no deficit to overcome in the second leg. The second leg was a tough game (despite having the home advantage) and it took until the 82nd minute until the first goal was scored - unfortunately for us it was Werder Bremen who scored it. The game wasn't done though and we were awarded a penalty two minutes later which was converted by Iaquita who then went on to score another goal in the 87th minute before Marchionni capped a dramatic come back and made it 3-1 (6-4 on aggregate).

On to the semi-final and it would be Liverpool who were our next obstacle. We had previously met in Group C of the second phase and had managed one win and one defeat. The first leg ended in a 2-1 defeat at Anfield but we had a lifeline with the away goal. In the second leg, Liverpool quickly recovered the away goal inside 18 minutes but we bounced back with two goals and the scores were level. Shortly after we had scored our second goal, Fábio Aurélio was sent off for Liverpool and we had the chance to take advantage; unfortunately we didn't and it went to extra time. 96 minutes played and Iaquinta collected a headed ball by Camoranesi and blasted it past Renia and we shut up shop to progress to the final.

The final would be against Inter Milan and I had high hopes of a third piece of silverware. The game kicked off, and after seven minutes Christian Chivu kicked Pavel Nedved and was given his marching orders. This was it, we had 83 minutes to take advantage of the extra man. Inter dug in though and made it difficult for us and an own goal from Walter Samuel was the only difference. We had done it, we had completed the treble!

So on to season two in Italy! First of all - proof that I had no foreigners in the squad :ok:

http://i.imgur.com/W9A216E.png

Super Cup

We kicked off the season against Udinese in the Italian Super Cup. Udinese were on the back foot after twelve minutes when Amauri opened the scoring. Things were made worse for Udionese eight minutes later when their goalkeeper got himself sent off and Bonera converted the penalty. From there it was all one way traffic and we made it 4-0 before full time to add another piece of silverware to the cabinet.

Intercontinental Cup & Super Cup

Due to winning the Champions League we were entered in to both the Intercontinental Cup and the Super Cup. Our first hurdle was Sao Paulo who we would meet in Tokyo. Before the game fitness levels were seriously struggling and I had to pick a half-fit team for the game. Sao Paulo capitalised early and scored after just four minutes before Chiellini decided he fancied an early bath and was given his marching orders for pushing an opponent in the chest. We managed to prevent any more goals but we were never able to go to the other end and score meaning the Intercontinental Cup would have to wait until another day.

Two days later and we had arrived in Monaco to face FC Bayern in the Super Cup. With the team dead on their legs and suffering from jet lag, we gingerly approached the match with little hope of pulling off a shock win. It was, as expected, a one-sided affair and Bayern pummelled us 3-0. I guess the Super Cup will also have to wait!

Serie A

Still suffering from a busy pre-season we opened the season with a draw against Palermo. The squad recovered quickly and we soon found ourselves trailing Inter in second place. Inter kept the pressure on and kept us from our usual spot until the 23rd game of the season. Once we had leap-frogged Inter it was plain sailing and we sealed the title with three games to go.

http://i.imgur.com/UR70mRH.png

Italian Cup

The Italian Cup second round saw us face off against Genoa. The first leg ended in a tense 1-1 draw but in the return leg Genoa offered very little resistance and we steam rolled them 4-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Ederson. This earned us a quarter final tie against Roma which again saw a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Thankfully, this was followed up by 2-0 win in the second to send us through to the semi-final. Inter were the team that stood between us and a second consecutive final and we got off to a good start by drawing first blood in the first leg with a 2-1 victory. In the return leg we came up against an inspired Júlio César who managed to keep out six of our attempts on goal whilst Dejan Stankovic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic did the damage at the other end to see us crash out 3-2 on aggregate.

Champions League

As we were champions of Italy we weren't required to play a qualifier this season and so we were drawn in to Group E consisting of Chelsea, Shaktar Donetsk and PSV. We finished second in the group behind Chelsea with four wins, a draw and a loss (to Chelsea...). In the second phase we had to contend with Liverpool, Barcelona and Werder Bremen. Two wins against Barcelona and a win and a draw each against both Liverpool and Werder Bremen saw us finish first in the group with 14 points.

In the quarter finals we were drawn against Real Madrid. We would play at their place first and a narrow 1-0 win meant we had a 1 goal advantage, and importantly, an away goal. In the return leg the home advantage was utilised in our favour and we recorded a comfortable 3-1 win to dump them out of the cup. This sparked a media frenzy and I honestly thought we were odds on to win it for a second year in a row.

Chelsea, our old friends from the first phase, were our next opponents. The first leg was at home and we were off to a good start when Deco decided to get himself sent off in the fourth minute of the game and Pazzini converted the penalty that he had conceded. Another goal from Giovinco five minutes later and a second goal from Pazzini gave us a three goal advantage to take to Stamford Bridge. I was over the moon after the first leg, we had beaten the stubborn Chelsea 3-0 and had one foot over the line.

It's worth noting that during this season I had not been using Buffon in net due to his poor form and as a result he'd started to moan about wanting to be a first team regular. Prior to the second leg, I decided to give him his chance; after all, we had a three goal advantage and Buffon was, on paper, a phenominal goalkeeper. The game kicked off and I had told the team to just conserve as much as possible and ease us home - Chelsea had other ideas. Klose broke the deadlock after 25 minutes scoring a header from a Totti corner. Two minutes later and Totti had doubled the lead after some great football from Chelsea; within 27 minutes we had our advantage cut down to just one goal. Totti hadn't finished though and after collecting the ball from Bosingwa he embarked on a mazy run and put another past Buffon. I was absolutely livid and immediately subbed Buffon. The sub keeper, Belardi managed to steady the ship and after 90 minutes the score was 3-3. Extra time and I was nervous as it had been all Chelsea throughout the game. Chelsea continued to push hard and Totti completed his hat-trick in the 102nd minute which saw us eliminated from the Champions League. FUCK YOU BUFFON!

Third season of the challenge completed and my first season at Mainz was.. different.

German First Division

As a bit of a back story, I took over Mainz after they won promotion to the first division. I was given a fair transfer budget to bring in whoever fancied the challenge. I also decided to start early and clear out all the foreigners to boost the transfer kitty as well as bringing us in line to challenge for the big points. In total 16 new faces arrived and I felt I had a competitive squad that would at least keep us around mid-table. However, we started horribly and after 10 games we were in the relegation places. The signings I had brought in had failed to turn up and the choice of tactic was all wrong. We continued to fight against relegation, jumping up to 14th before coming crashing back down to 18th (last place). We never recovered from a poor start and in the closing stages it was touch and go as to whether we would be able to stay up. Unfortunately, luck was not on our side and we were relegated on the last day of the season.

Crazy stuff!

Think you can get back up this year?

I think it's the first time I've ever been relegated whilst managing. Thankfully, the board were still delighted with my progress so my job was never under threat. After being let down massively by the squad, I transfer listed the lot of them and made sure to bring in my own men who I knew would be capable of taking us up again. Currently we sit top of the league with 11 games to go - I think promotion is pretty much a certainty.

Fourth season of the challenge complete and my second year in charge at Mainz.

German Second Division

With the team misfiring so dramatically last season I made the executive decision to transfer list the whole squad and bring in my own personnel who I knew would work hard to help us achieve promotion. Eight players left the club, which included our remaining foreign players, and so we were good to go with an all-German squad. To beef up the squad I brought in ten players who helped to pad out the areas that we lacked in and to provide options for rotation. The result was as I expected and we hit the ground running, galloping up the league and in to first place after just six games. We continued to show signs of a team that had been reformed and sat comfortably in first place all season from the eighth game onwards. In the end we played 34 games, won 24, drew 5, lost 5, scored 68 and conceded 33. We topped second place by 16 points and I had achieved promotion at the first time of asking.

German Cup

There was also the German Cup to play for this season. We edged past Reutlingen in the first round before a close game with Cottbus saw us win by two goals to one. The third round presented us with a challenge against division one side Nurnberg but an impressive 4-1 win over them set up a quarter final tie with Bayern. Unfortunately the cheer strength of Bayern was too much for us to ovecome and we lost the quarter final 2-0.

Not a bad season really, one which I was quite happy with in the end. The team performed well, and the tactics looked to be working as planned. The rotation in the squad was stable and players were able to step up when required. I was impressed that my center half managed 7.1 tackles per game from 18 appearances and his counterpart managed 4.9 tackles per game from 32 appearances. Next season I think I need to bring in a top, prolific striker who can stick the ball in the back of the net.

They had won the previous 4 leagues, and ended 13th with 48 points.

In 2011/12, PSG lost 16 matches, as many as they had lost in the previous 4 seasons.

We were lucky, and took advantage of that.

English stage completed.

Made a good start, and everything was easier than expected. Only Everton could follow my steps in the first half of the season, but finally they had to give up.

This was my fourth season at Birmingham, and, of course, there were no foreign players in the squad:

Next, and last step: Spain.

Since my nationality is Spanish, I didn´t have to wait too longer to get a new job.

And, luckily, now I´m managing Sporting Gijon, the team I support in real life.

First season at Sporting Gijon in Spanish First Division is over.

Finished 5th, close to Champions League positions, but 20 points away from Real Madrid.

There are some players to be sold, and it´s time to rebuild the squad.

Season 2017/18 is over, but there is no good news...

Finished 7th, but too far from Real Madrid (again). Besides, Barça has a great squad, and Las Palmas only conceded 9 goals in 38 matches.

It´s going to be really hard...

First season with Hansa Rostock (Germany 4th country) in Division 2. An awful start, finishing fourth... No promotion.

Unfortuntely, this has come to an end.

After a poor start, I couldn´t revert the situation, and I´ve been sacked.

I´ll be back to this challenge, but not now...

Starting this! Couple of questions
Is it 2 seasons with a club minimum? 160/160 ca/pa? Second nationalities as manager?
Cheers

Craig Forrest
26-02-15, 09:55 PM
Yes minimum 2 seasons with a club (although probably more as you may only get a lower league team when you switch countries)

First season counts as "With foreigners" even if you get rid of them all. second season counts as "nationals only"

160/160 is fine. As is ONE second nationality so pick wisely.

Also, dual national players count as nationals (so an ARG/ITA guy would count as Italian)

Good luck with Andrade at the start of the game.... ;)
