@Jesus: Brilliant! Love reading about your career.

@Pegster: Isn't there Juventude in Brazil? And of course Juventus and Juve Stabia in Italy.
Glad you're following! Haven't noticed you posting around the forum so it's nice to see a new face. Hope you stick around!

In regards to your question to Pegster, I think he was referring to teams in the English Leagues.

Yeah, I mostly look around instead of posting. I just really like reading stories and career updates and just gazing at screenies overall.

Edit: Regarding me not posting so much. I'll show of my season here when I am finished to break the trend a little.

Jesus is right, I was only referring to the English league, plenty of other leagues that have teams on J. Might do an international version some time but then the foreign jobs problems comes into play.

Not if you patch it or use the Tapani patch.

Good evening champs and welcome another season update from Derek Trotter - at the helm of the mighty Yeovil Town! This is Derek's 9th season in charge, and our best season yet in terms of success! :wof:

In fact, after a few drama filled seasons of last-gasp title wins, AWOL players and red cards galore, this season has been quite comfortable in comparison!
http://i.imgur.com/TdL35TJ.png

We never streaked clear at the top, but we were solid throughout the season with no bad form, even towards the end of the season when we had to play 4 games in 8 days. Here's our league progress...
http://i.imgur.com/CkTsu4m.png

Player performances were a notch above last season, with several standout players. Midfielder Eric Scott had an excellent season, notching up 19 assists. Whereas 'Terry the right back' took the highest average rating award. 'Keeper Mattia Perin was ultra consistent between the sticks. Doumbia was reliable up front again, but was overshadowed by our young striking prodigy Ian Grant, who, despite the unfashionable name, has become a very good finisher. His stamina could be better, but that at least let us rotate, which we had to do later in the season as the games piled up. Messi gave great cameos in the important games, and occasionally supplied goals in the league. With a stamina rating of 6/20 though, he didn't play too often - preferring 60 minute games every week, and a rest during the midweek games/weekend games, depending on when his previous match was.
http://i.imgur.com/2PfBX1e.png
http://i.imgur.com/XYv8Iiu.png

The cup competitions couldn't really have gone any better, so here we go...

League Cup - winners (for the first time!)
http://i.imgur.com/qZGrOgu.png

FA Cup - winners (for the second time!)
http://i.imgur.com/xhBP6LY.png

Champions League - winners (for the first time!) - and to think we'd gone the whole Euro campaign without a red card! :bowl:
http://i.imgur.com/h3vNZOx.png

For those with mathematical talent, that's four trophies! (five if you count the pre-season Charity Shield victory!) We did the quadruple!

On to transfers...here are our ins and outs during the season. So long, farewell to Slabbekoorn :( but we did get the very talented Lewis Cook in as replacement for just a third of the prie, so I ain't complainin'!
http://i.imgur.com/U3y52cG.png
http://i.imgur.com/g2s9pU1.png

It's the future transfers that excite me. The homesick and previously AWOL Raul Garitano is leaving on a free, as is backup 'keeper Callum Burton. Kairinen and Vallejo are both homesick and are leaving for pastures new (still in England though, the dopey fuckwits! Good riddance to them - lol jk guys you served Del Boy well! So we're clearing out the unhappy ones, and we are bringing in a few highly rated players courtesy of our scouts, who have once again been trawling Europe for unwanted talent.
http://i.imgur.com/s74Mmvq.png

Verhagen is a DMC who is not getting enough game time at Feyenoord. They extorted a stupid fee from us, but he's only young and his stats are already pretty high. Kristian Johnson is a youth striker solely signed to make up the numbers. Knoester and Pinheiro are both experienced and talented defenders replacing the outgoing Garitano and Vallejo, whereas Esnaola and Lemaitre are teenage sensations who will be world-beaters afte a few years of development ( possibly! :D ).

I had thought of resigning in pursuit of a new challenge, but I'm happy at Yeovil still, and with a freshened up squad next season with new faces to bed in - we have an even mightier challenge ahead, and more trophies to defend! All hail Yeovil Town!

As an aside, I can't really believe the success this season. We're using a 4231 non-wibwob formation, the exact same as last season, but we've not had the suspensions and injuries this season to contend with, so with the games every 2/3/4 days later in the season, we had the squad depth to rotate whilst still maintaining a strong 1st eleven.

Onwards and upwards (or on a par with this season!)

:peace:

After a great deal of thought I have decided to begin a new career.

I am not exactly sure how the career will go but it is very much passed on a A-Z type of thing. The idea is that I can move onto another club once the League has been won or once a National Cup has been won. For example the FA Cup or League Cup.

Another small restriction I am placing on myself is that I have to win the Champions League in each of the countries that I have loaded.

Argentina

Belgium

England

France

Germany

Greece

Holland

Italy

Scotland

Agrotikos Asteras - Greek National B - 2015/16

This was a bit of an odd one really. I decided to go to Greece and do something over there as I have not really played to much and certainly not in the 2nd division. I began well enough with some decent wins, nothing was ever outstanding but the wins were there which was good enough. We then hit some real bad form towards the end of the calendar year.

I managed to reinvest in the squad as I shipped some fringe players out and brought in a young Greek Defender and a striker from Portsmouth and one from Shrewsbury. I was pleased to get them in but the two boys got injured for most of the remainder of the season. The season sorted of fizzled out into nothing really as we won some and loss some. We were the true meaning of midtable.

In the cup we did nothing as we lost in the group stage.

Next year I have a few boys coming into the club this should make us much better and I hope to push more towards the top two.

I'm gonna see out this season and then consider pastures new. I didn't envisage such a gripping and long save though, so I only enabled the English leagues so after this I might start a new save and choose more leagues so I can travel about a bit. We'll see :) Thanks for the props

Season 8 Review

We started the year off with the french version of the charity shield (Champions Trophy) where we would face PSG who were fresh from splashing out £49m on new signings to top up their already talented squad. We would go 0-1 up in the 20th minute and continued to hold PSG at bay until Verratti popped up in the 70th minute to equalise. The game would end 1-1 and we went to penalties. We would score our first 3 pens while PSG scored 2 of 3. Verratti then missed for PSG, While Amavi would miss our next one. Up stepped Montoya for PSG with a chance to keep them in the game but blazed it over handing Paris FC the Trophy!!

League

After seven seasons we start season 8 with a renewed hope of finally catching PSG and toppling them from their perch after 4 seasons of finishing runners up and with us finally showing we could close the gap following last seasons promise.

We started the season off in pretty good form. After 10 games we had won 9 and Drawn 1 of which included a 2-0 win at home versus rivals PSG who would sit in 6th place and a nice 12 points behind us. We continued our assault on the league with 7 wins and 3 draws in the next 10 games and would stay unbeaten up until January 9th when we went away to PSG who would sneak a 1-0 win to end our unbeaten streak.

I rallied the troops and went again, our form was beginning to become a little patchy. After that defeat against PSG we would smash Toulouse 4-0 at home, followed by a rather lucky 1-1 draw away at mid table Epinal. 2 further wins in the league followed that draw and then our 2nd loss away to Lyon 1-0. After that defeat to Lyon I let rip at the players for being shambolic and told them their finishing needs to be better, they duly obliged and smashed five past Evian but then followed it up with a pathetic 0-1 loss to Lorient

It was at this point I thought all of our hard work earlier in the season was going to start coming unstuck as PSG were slowly but surely closing the gap to us. We had a couple of tough games coming up Marseille, Bordeaux and Rennes. But I need not have worried as 2-0, 4-1 and 2-1 wins secured us Valuable points as PSG continued their relentless pursuit of us.

There was not long left of the season and PSG were not far behind us. 3 further wins against Avranches, Valenciennes and Sochaux had me dreaming of a miracle but PSG were still coming like a steam train. A 1-0 loss away to Le Havre and a PSG win meant the gap was closed again, Come on lads dont fuck this up for me.. A 0-0 draw at home against Le Havre (yes home and away matches within a cpl weeks) meant the gap was now 4 points with just 3 games of the season to go.

Up next were Saint-Etienne who were duly given a 4-0 spanking. 2 goals from captain Rabiot and 2 from Johan Henriksson gave us a little breathing room, They would however have to go play PSG away next who would again spank them 4-0

2 games of the season left. 4 points gap between PSG in 2nd and ourselves who sit top of the table.. We would have to go away to Troyes to play them. After 14 minutes we were 1-0 down thanks to ex Man Utd striker Angelo Henriquez  But up stepped my super swedish striker Henriksson to equalise. We were helped in our cause after 45 mins when Gianelli Imbula was sent off for Lens. Henriksson would then go on to grab his second of the game after 57 minutes and we would manage to see out the rest of the game. Troyes 1-2 Paris FC. We would win our final game at home v Lens 2-0 while PSG drew 0-0

WE HAVE DONE IT. FINALLY MANAGED TO SILENCE OUR NOISY RICH BASTARD NEIGHBOURS!!! :D

http://i67.tinypic.com/pbuom.jpg

While I was also offered a very nice position in Italy which has been promptly been rejected :D

http://i67.tinypic.com/1zvbg52.jpg

French cups

I tried my hardest to rotate my squad this season for our assault at winning both cups but it wasnt to be.. Yet again in the french cup we would be undone by a div 2 team. This time it was Epinal with a last minute winner.

However we werent to be denied one cup the French League cup where we beat Lorient, Clermont, Le Havre and Montpellier where we would face off against Rennes who would be beat 3-0

http://i66.tinypic.com/112bwo5.jpg

Champions League

We were drawn in a group consisting of Tottenham, Madrid and Lech poznan. We would draw 1-1 against Madrid at home and lose 2-0 away, While we beat Spurs 0-1 away and 3-0 at home and would beat Lech 2-0 at home but lose 1-0 away. We would finish 2nd in the group behind Madrid.

In 2nd group stage we got Napoli, Moenchengladbach and Porto, Whilst this would seem a tougher group than previous round we sailed through with 4 wins and 2 losses, joined in the quarter finals by Napoli.

Quarter finals we were drawn to play Lazio. We won the first leg 1-0 at home and then went away and won 2-0

Semi Final we were drawn to play Liverpool (ironically I am managing liverpool and cardiff in the premier league - both have iodine set and holidaying) We would draw 0-0 at Anfield and we would then beat them 1-0 at home after quite a magnificent performance from the team.

In the final we would have to play my Cardiff side who knocked out Barca..

We took the lead in the 4th minute only for Cardiff to get down the other end and equalise after 5 mins, we would then take the lead after 29 mins which lasted up till the 54th Minute. The game would then go onto extra time where Cardiff grabbed the winner after 99mins.

http://i64.tinypic.com/1q1yzl.jpg

Transfers

I had settled on just the 3 signings prior to December/January but injuries to my 2 main strikers and the other one being terribly out of form forced my arm, Yassin Fortune had been transfer listed by my Ass.Man at Cardiff due to being homesick so I snapped him up. Scuffet was also unsettled as the club had rejected bids for him, even though he was only 2nd choice behind Begovic so I sold him to Paris (Even though he was cup tied) and sold Juan Cruz to Cardiff who was my 3rd choice keeper just so they had backup. While Obispo was sold due to him wanting a new challenge and Cardiff needed a backup at CB.

Preseason Season 9

Now comes the challenge of pushing on and retaining my title as well as challenging for all trophies I am entered in. I will have to start a minor rebuilding job, Blaise Matuidi has been released on a free after a rapid decline in his stats last season as well as the emergence of young german Tobias Wuttke who can play MRLC. It is also looking likely that I will have to replace Alex Grimaldo who has become homesick after 6 seasons with us, I set a price of £8m which Inter Milan are prepared to pay. Outgoing will also be Uruguayan Gaston Pereiro who we signed for £9m 4 years ago, He requested a transfer for a new challenge. Price was set at £12m which a few clubs instantly came in for him at, I fear this is a little low but dont want to push my luck. Also outgoing is Ashley Smith-Brown for £3m. He was signed as backup on a free transfer and didnt really impress much when given a run.

I have a few targets in mind to replace these players. Angelo Fulgini is a classy attacking RB who should provide a stiffer competition for Lartey Sanniez at RB, While I have been looking at Konrad Laimer as a replacement for Pereiro. But so far Toulouse are unwilling to do business at what I consider a decent price for someone with just a season left on contract. As for the LB position, well that could be tricky. But we do have some cover in the form of Alvarez Balanta who could play there and also a 34 year old Kwadwo Asamoah with 1 yr contract If no one of sufficient quality becomes available.

Agrotikos Asteras - Greek National B - 2015/16

What an awful season that we had.

I bought in a shed load of new players and I really felt that I could have pushed on towards the promotion spots. This was not to be as we just lost and lost and lost. We changed formations four or five times throughout the year to try and get some wins but it did not happen really until it was to late. At that stage we did start to win and went into the last game needing to beat Asteras Tripolis score to stay up. We didnt we lost 2-0 and I was relegated.

In the Greek Cup we did get through the group stage but then lost out to a A division side in the next round.

Abroath - Scottish Third Division

After the sack, I decided that I would look around Scotland for my next job and Abroath was the chosen destination.

The squad was not fantastic at all and with no money I was forced to look around for deals for free transfers. A few decent players came in but not as many as I would like really.

In the league we started off a bit ropey as if the players were not used to playing in my style, once they got used to I managed to get a string of results together and we began a march up the league. At the end of the season with a few games to go it was becoming clear that 2 out of the 3 would be going up and I was in the middle of it. With wins in the last few games and with Berwicks collapse we had enough to get promotion, we even managed to take the title on the last day as Annan suffered a shock defeat against Clyde who needed to stay up.

Champions in my first year was fantastic

In the cups nothing much happened as in the three cups we only won 1 game.

Good afternoon folks, and welcome to the FINAL Yeovil Town update :rapture:
It's been a really fun save this - one of my most enjoyable saves with a great club. It helps when it's successful of course, but it has been challenging and rewarding at the same time. Anyway, enough of the soppy stuff, how did Derek Trotter do in his final season in charge?

Premier League

It was another successful campaign, although closer than I would have liked near the end, after our nearest rivals Liverpool beat us in game no. 37, meaning we had to win away at mid-table Hull to guarantee 1st place. We grabbed a last minute winner to beat them 3-2, but Liverpool could only manage a home draw to lowly Aston Villa. Champions for the fourth season running!

http://i.imgur.com/PeoEjDd.png
http://i.imgur.com/66GeIYm.png

Cup Competitions

Due to winning pretty much everything last season, we had been entered in a number of largely pointless cup competitions this season, such as the World Club Championships and the Super Cup. Nevertheless, a trophy is a trophy, so lets see how Del Boy got on...

The pre-season Charity Shield, which we have won a few times before, pitted us against West Ham, who had new signing Juan Narvaez up front. Even his firepower wasn't enough to overcome the mighty Yeovil though, and we ran out 3-2 winners!

http://i.imgur.com/WVIhVqt.png

The Super Cup was against Man Utd, but despite the Red Devils going down to 10 men in the first half, an inspired David De Gea performance meant we had penalties to overcome. We duly lost those and said goodbye to the Super Cup :(

http://i.imgur.com/zwbC59A.png

The World Club Championships were next. For those not familiar with this competition, it's basically a cup designed to make South American teams seem relevant to us high-class Europeans. However, because they aren't relevant, we dispatched the lot, often with a second-string side, and clinched the final against Corinthians by one goal to nil.

http://i.imgur.com/z4BFAdk.png

After that, we had the Intercontinental Cup. For those not familiar with this competition, it's basically a cup designed to make South American teams seem relevant to us high-class Europeans. However, because they aren't relevant, we comfortably brushed aside Gremio

http://i.imgur.com/RjWb5Z1.png

A slightly more important cup is the domestic League Cup, which we won for the first time last season. No problems getting to the final again this season, where we were up against surprise package Millwall...

http://i.imgur.com/WBeHdrq.png

During this time we were making reasonably serene progress in the Champions League, progressing through both group stages comfortably enough. Back to the domestic front, we had the FA Cup to defend. After defeating Newcastle in the semis, we were up against a talented Stoke side in the final. After racing to a 2-0 lead, we slacked off and let them back into the game, before 88th minute substitute Pinheiro scored the winner right at the death...

http://i.imgur.com/2DcNtaN.png

With the league sealed on the final day of the season, we faced Barcelona in the Champions League final. To get there we beat Valencia over two legs in the quarters, and Newcastle in the semis. It was a tight final, with defences and keepers well on top. As it happened, a first half Ian Grant goal was enough to see us prevail 1-0 and defend our trophy! :first:

http://i.imgur.com/qU4hpLJ.png

The Players

Our season saw the creativity in our team increase further, which meant more goals and assists! Ian Grant led the way with 46 goals in 43 appearances, with Doumbia providing another 23 himself. Our flair players behind the striker contributed plenty of goals and assists (Lopes and Salazar, I'm looking at you!), with our midfield maestro and chief playmaker Lewis Cook proving his value and world-class ability in midfield with 29 assists, 18 of them coming in the league...

http://i.imgur.com/w3Isqti.png
http://i.imgur.com/HAZ7L0x.png
http://i.imgur.com/gubrbGn.png
http://i.imgur.com/qrZrVYF.png

The Tactics

Our non-wibwob formation gets regularly tweaked, depending on the players we are using and the opposition in front of us. Generally it is a 4231 like the one below, but on occasion it'll be a 4213, or become more centralised with the attacking left winger brought in more centrally. We also had a 4321 and 433 a couple of times, mainly in the cup competitions when the squad rotated more.
http://i.imgur.com/jWoxy6b.png

So, with the challenge of this save fading with each trophy, and my silly mistake of not enabling more leagues, I will bid a fond farewell to this save, and, next week, I'll start a new challenge with a new club - with more leagues selected so I can travel about a bit more. :)

Thanks for reading my progress on this thread! It's great to join in the journey with everyone else plodding through their own saves. This is such a great thread when it's alive and kicking! :amen:

Abroath - Scottish Second Division

I can honestly say this was one of the most surreal seasons I have ever had on this game and this is from hours and hours of playing in the past.

I signed a few players on a free as I still had no cash these came in from the continent mainly Spain and Italy and they were very good and made our squad a million times better.

Firstly the League Cup and Challenge Cup went nowhere as I was out int he first round on both.

In the league we went top in Game week 3 and we stayed there throughout. We had a record number of points and goals and we really took the league apart. We never ever looked in danger of missing out on promotion or even the league really. I was amazed at how well we did. If anything this was over shadowed by the achievements in the cup.

We won the Scottish Cup, yes thats right we won it. We beat a couple of teams around are league and above us before beating, Kilmarnock, Patrick Thistle and CELTIC before beating Division 1 side Alloa in the final. I am truly flabbergasted at what we did.

This team is good enough to be top 5/6 in the Premiership now so I would expect next season to be a doddle. I am going to have a look what B teams are knocking around as I may look to move on.

Nationals Only - Season Thirteen (Part 1 of 2)
Ref: http://www.champman0102.co.uk/showthread.php?t=266

With the best season of my career to date behind me I had time to reflect on how far I'd come since beginning this epic adventure. I had somehow managed to conquer four countries and was now on the home straight as I had one final destination to cover; France. Unfortunately for me there wans't much movement in France and many teams were preparing for the upcoming season. As a result I decided it would be best to continue in Germany until the right opportunity presented itself.

The offseason was spent keeping one eye on France whilst also looking to bring in new recruits. Walter Beck (DMC), Jurgen Heine (GK), Marco Kirsten (MC) and Sven Moller (DMC) were the four faces to be brought to HSV for the combined total of £28.5million. I did intend to bolster the striker position but there was a serious lack of quality for players in that position and so I had to settle for last seasons pairing of Vágner Love (36 years old) and Stefan Ronnenburg (32 years old). The only problem that presented itself was the age of the squad; the average age was nearing 30 and a lot of players who had performed well last season seemed to have degraded over the summer (which I put down to too much partying following our heroics). That being said I had already accomplished what I set out to achieve in Germany so what ever the season had in store for me would have to do.

We started our season with a familiar competition that had eluded us; the German League Cup. We were to face Werder Bremen in the semi-final and a 2-0 win saw us through to face FC Bayern. Bayern had been very busy in the transfer market and 13 new players had arrived at the Allianz-Arena. The final got off to a bad start with Bayern going ahead in the 9th minute and things only got worse for us as Manuel Neuer had a shocker and let in four goals in total. Oh well, didn't want that one anyway...

Despite the humiliation of the German League Cup final we started strongly in the league, soon finding ourselves leading the pack after five games. We continued to churn out good results which kept us sitting pretty at the top of the league for long periods but after 15 game we found ourselves trailing FC Bayern...

Due to our achievements last season we would have a number of additional cup competitions to participate in. First up was the Intercontinental Cup which saw us play Uruguayan side Penarol. We were completely dominate in the game and Penarol didn't even manage a shot on goal. Despite this we only just edged it with a 1-0 win. Another shiny trophy to add to the cabinet. :D

Next up was the Super Cup which saw us play against UEFA Cup champions Atlético Madrid (who I now saw as a bit of a nemesis because of the amount of times they had fucked me over). The game itself got off to a nervous start as Atlético took the lead only for us to level the scores by half time. The second half went quickly south though as Atléico kicked it up a gear or two and hammered two past Neuer to condemn us to a 3-1 defeat. Oh well, didn't want that one anyway...

In Europe we found ourselves in a group consisting of Vicenza (Italy), Derby (England) and CFR Cluj (Romania). We got off to a convincing start with a 3-0 win over Cluj but found ourselves beaten by Vicenza in the following fixture. A 2-0 win over Derby in the third fixture got us back on track but Derby were quick to enact their revenge in the return fixture as they won 3-1. As you can see, we had found it difficult to get some consistency in Europe and a 1-1 draw with Cluj in the penultimate match meant we were staring down the barrel of the gun which could have seen us out of Europe at the first phase  Thankfully the lads really showed some fight and we demolished Vicenza 5-0 to see us edge through over Derby.

As we were the Champions League holders we were entered in to the FIFA Club World Championship this season. I would be making my managerial debut in this competition and as always I was looking for silverware to add to my collection. Our group games didn't provide any surprises and 3 win out of 3 set us up with a semi-final clash with Bella Vista. A 1-1 draw against the Urguyuan side meant that it would require penalties to see who would go to the final; as it happens we were on the right side of the result and we won 4-3. The final would be against Houston Dynamo who had overcome Boca to get to the final however they didn't provide much resistance (they didn't get a single shot on target) and a 4th minute strike from Vágner Love was all that was needed as we were crowned champions with a 1-0 win!

It was now late in to December and we were faced with a German Cup Quarter Final game against Stuttgart. A 0-0 stalemate meant that the familiar process of a penalty shootout would be required to see who would advance. Once more we were on the right side of the result and despite missing our first two penalties we went on to win the shootout 3-2. After the game I decided to head to my office to catch up on some scout reports that had been returned to me. As I began to shuffle through the mountain of paperwork my phone vibrated loudly on the desk next to me.... "Hello?"

@EL-TOPPO - A really good write up mate, I enjoyed the flow of it. The win in the Champions Trophy seemed to be a good signal of things to come despite the up and down form that seemed to plague you mid-season. You must have been biting your nails off towards the end though, the 6 point gap really doesn't reflect how close it was. Nice work on completing the domestic treble and reaching another Champions League final as well, you were so close to defending your crown.

@ashton430 - Looks like you really struggled in Greece, especially getting relegated. Will you be returning to Greece one day? Nice to see you bounce back in Scotland though with the back-to-back championship wins as well as the Scottish Cup win!

@ViK - Really sad that the Yeovil chapter is coming to a close but an excellent season to round it all off! It's been one hell of a journey, especially seeing you experiment with different formations with varying results. Nice to see you get the fourth Premier League title in a row but it did seem touch and go there at the end! Some more shiny silverware too in the form of the Charity Shield, World Club Championship, Intercontinental Cup, League Cup, FA Cup AND the Champions League. Holy fucking shit what a haul! Best of luck in the new save, looking forward to seeing you as a journeyman.

@Jesus cheers mate. Yeah I think the problem was not being able to sort a decent tactic. Think I have cracked it now though. The Scottish cup run was unreal but I think Alloa were also a surprise to get to the final. Now in Argentina in easily the biggest club thus far.

I will be returning to Greece because I need to win the Champions League with a team from every country as part of my challenge.

CL win wasnt last season, but season before that.. I got knocked out last season in that strange ending to groups that I showed you

Still undecided if I am staying on or looking for pastures new. Right now there isnt a job available that interests me.

This thread has been amazing lately, so many people posting great updates! Too much to comment on all of them for me, but I do enjoy reading them ;)
Sad to see the Yeovil adventure end, but what an ending it was, proving beyond doubt the club's status as the best in the world. I am looking forward to the successor story!

I've played some more on my main save, finishing the 2023/24 season with Everton, and while I'm stuck at the club for at least another year it was a pretty successful season. The league was frustrating as after a very good start I was stuck a bit behind the top, something made even more frustrating by the fact that there were several different teams taking turns at the top with both Manchester United and Fulham passing me to get in the lead before falling back again, while I couldn't exploit the opportunities when their forms fell.

http://s8.postimg.org/4gdf5iq3p/2324progress.jpg

3rd place in the league isn't bad, but it's a step backwards from last season's second, and it means I'm stuck here for another year (at the wrong side of Stanley Park!). On the positive side, we got one more point than last season and scored 21 more goals while conceding ten more. We've improved, only the competition has improved more, except for Arsenal who's fallen from last year's league win to 10th this year.
In the cups we had more success, playing in two finals, one domestic and one European.

The League Cup final was one of the more annoying moments of the season, thankfully it was more than made up for by having a similar event going my way in the Uefa Cup final!

The team was varying and not quite as good as it should have been. Some players overperformed (Coleman and Davis really don't have the attributes to be good Premier League players, but they definitely are), while others disappointed vastly (Lars Lundstrøm, most of my defenders). Major transfer activity to be conducted in the summer, most of it is done already unless the board decide to be dimwits again and block the transfers. My new £6M striker didn't do too bad, but he's not scoring as much as I'd have liked so I'm bringing in a new one in the summer, along with two attacking midfielders and four defenders.

At least you have the fun of buying players Pegs! I love a good transfer overhaul in the summer. Turf out the underachievers and scout out some talent! :D

I'm beginning my new adventure in Turkey, taking over 2nd division side Denizlispor. The target is promotion within 2 seasons and Euro qualification within 4 seasons. Even if those targets are not achieved, I'll aim to manage in Scotland after that. The main restriction I'm setting myself is no-wib-wob again, and no 4231 or any variation of that formation (ie, centralises/wingers/DMCs etc) - so as to not copy the success behind the Yeovil save - which I've not deleted by the way, and I might go back to on occasion! :D

I'll have an introduction to Denizlispor soon!

Mjondalen
http://handball.mif.no/filarkiv/nyheter_thumbs/9_235x157_MIF_logo_original.jpg

I decided that I would go to Norway first. I don't think I remember to many games in Norway. I do seem to remember someone having a great save over there sometime ago (Red maybe), so my aim is to win the Champions League with my Norwegian Team.

Mjondalen are a team with decent history from years ago but nothing for a long time. I aim to return them to the top of the Norwegian game and hopefully put them at the top of Europe.

In the cup we got through a couple of rounds I even managed to beat a Premier Division team in Bodo/Glimt before I was knocked out by a non league team but a massive one at that in Lyn who seemed to have a massive fall from grace.

In the league I pretty much dominated proceedings from start to finish, I even managed to record a 7-0 win over one team. In the end I thought we got what we deserved as we were one of the best teams in the league. We did have a bit of a rough run at the end of the year as we struggled to get wins, I would say we kind of fell over the line but we were so far ahead it still looked like a dominant win for us.

I spent a lot of the season getting money for the club. I managed to shift out a few players who despite being first teamers were sold due to the huge offers made. I made £1,300,000 from 9 players. I brought 8 in for £170,000 the quality of the players is a little worse but a lot younger so I am pleased with that. This should leave a good deal of cash for a pre season of spending to make sure I stay in the Premier Division.

Yay Norway! Mjøndalen is a club with rich traditions who's been gone from the top for a couple of decades, will be nice to see them back in the top again :)
Lyn went bankrupt a few years back and were allowed to restart 4 divisions lower or something like that, like what happened to Fiorentina in Italy.

Yes he did. So did also Ighalo and Chinedu Obasi (who was in Hoffenheim and Schalke). Despite all these big transfers out by Norwegian standards, Lyn struggled financially and went down one division after the 2009 season. They went bankrupt during the next season and had to withdraw from the league. The next year they started in 7th tier. This season they'll be in 4th tier.

Summer transfers done, and I think I have a fair chance at winning this season. 7 players in (and a few out), 4 defenders, 2 attacking midfielders/forwards and a striker.

From Racing Genk for £6.5M, the guy I hope will be my new Roman Vasilyuk:

From Brescia for £375k:

And finally, a guy I have wanted to sign for many years but who I couldn't get to Dag & Red and haven't been able to get to Everton until now as Köln have refused to sell (his contract was now unprotected), for a fee of £2.1M:

2024/25 with Everton finished, and what an eventful season it turned out to be!
Started the season with some European action, first with Champions League qualification games against Israelian team Hapoel Haifa, which didn't give us too much trouble, and then as reigning UEFA Cup champions we faced Inter in the Super Cup:
http://s29.postimg.org/c24xid7lz/2425supercup.jpg

The start of the season was very good, we won our first seven games with a goal difference of 16-0, so the new defenders were doing their job well. The first conceded goal came in game 9 at Old Trafford, where we won 2-1, and the first loss of the season came at Highbury when Arsenal managed to defeat us 1-0 in January. 36 games without losing was a new club record, and I think it will stand for a while. Joaquin Vasquez refused to sign a new contract as he became pissed off when I fined him for skipping training, and fucked off to Fulham in December for 9M, but the squad was deep enough to manage without him even while competing in all competitions. Apart from the Super Cup we were in three cup finals, and if Leeds hadn't superkeepered us in the Champions League final we'd have had a perfect cup season.

http://s29.postimg.org/suvlgskav/2425cl.jpg

The main goal of the season however was the league, and after a long season (70 games in total) we didn't do too shabby there either. Some memorable games along the way were wins at Old Trafford and Anfield, and a double win over Barcelona in the CL semi finals.

http://s29.postimg.org/g9v4ddjnr/2425schedule.jpg
http://s29.postimg.org/c8e17prd3/2425.jpg

The squad was very good, and the new signings all did well, even if our new Belgian striker Meeuwssen didn't perform as well as I had hoped, and had to settle for a backup-spot for Christophe Martin. Buck and Pizzi were playing very well behind the striker, and Davis banged in goals from midfield, while the defence was solid and keeper Mårtensson didn't miss a single game despite the exceedingly long season. Vazquez tried to ruin the squad harmony in the autumn, but he left and wasn't really missed even if he had played well. I feared the players would be tired towards the end and not perform as well as they could in the important end of season games, so I lowered fitness training from medium to light in the middle of April, and together with choosing players almost only based on fitness that prevented exhaustion even with games every 3/4 days for a long period.

http://s29.postimg.org/81t6sdrrb/2425squad.jpg

There's a World Club Chapionship coming up at the end of the summer, and unless any F jobs comes up before that I'm staying at the club until after that. Only Fulham in the league at the moment, so unless Farnborough or Folkestone or anyone else I have forgotten are promoted into Conference I might have to wait for a while.

I was going to comment on this. It seems your save is beginning to suffer from the usual cause and effect of regens coming back with defenders with ridiculous positioning stats and strikers with rubbish work rate and determination stats. For what it's worth the latest Tapani patch rewrote the regen code and introduced newgens.

Still same tactic yeah. Only change I do is sometimes taking off a defensive midfielder to field an extra striker if I need to score, but the starting tactic is always that one.

Other teams scoring less (and drawing more) is always an issue with long games (except for the odd season where a team scores loads), and they become inconsistent, rarely the same group of teams in the top for several years.

Like I highlighted, the tapani patch aims to prevent the whole scoring less, drawing more syndrome experienced in long term games.

No teams on F promoted (but one H team, Halesowen, for the not too distant future), so I'll be staying until after the Wrld Club Cup it seems. That's a competition I rarely get to play in, so it'll be a nice experience.

Peder Mårtensson was one of my first signings to Everton and has been a success. Solid performances, topped this season by his best season to date, and he's never uttered a word of complaint, even when he was temporarily replaced by an over-peforming backup keeper a couple of seasons ago. I won't be bringing him to my next club as he's getting too old, but he's deserved his retirement whenever that comes.

No big surprise teams doing consistently well, but plenty of teams have had one or a few seasons where they have been doing better than one would expect from such teams in the league. Charlton won the league in 2022, but other than them and the teams I have managed, only Arsenal, Leeds, Chelsea, Man. Utd. and Liverpool have won the league.

Anyways, played through the World Club Cup and had a great few weeks in Brazil:

I have decided that I will run a game using my beloved Blackburn, I will be using only non wibwob formations and will try to make realistic transfers as possible.

League

This began really badly as we struggled and I was in the relegation zone for a time. I was hoping that I would turn things around and I did. We picked up wins on the spin and I soon climbed the table, I cannot decide if it was more to do with how well we did or the fact that no one really took the league by storm. In the end the Defence let us down as we conceded far to may goals. I think if we had shored the Defence up a little better I could have made the playoffs

Again we did not begin as well as we could have done but with a bit of a switch around in the middle made us much stronger and much more consistent. I switched to a flat back four and this seemed to have a positive effect on our defence as kept many more clean sheets. We won our last couple of games to get into the playoffs. As the form team I suspected that we would do well and we certainly did that as we beat West Brom and Aston Villa to earn promotion into the big time.

First year in the big time. I am surprised at how well we fitted in. We began the season really well and continued all the way through the year. We never really looked in any danger of going down as we looked more likely to challenge for the European places. In the end a mid season slump cost us the chances of any higher places but all in all 9th is amazing and much better than I could have hoped for.

I am doing a save with Newcastle, just started my fifth (or sixth? can't remember!) season. I have gathered a ridiculously good squad, but I have still not won the Premiership. Embarrassing! I have won the CL and World championships though, and quite a few FA- and league cups along the way, but in the league I always seem to drop stupid points here, there and everywhere. I am not sure what causes it - I can play brilliantly and hammer Man City 7-0 in one game, but then lose 0-2 to Leicester and battle out a 0-0 with Swansea. I am tempted to fire up Iodine and just get it over with.

But I won't go there. I will keep adjusting my 4-1-3-2 until I get it right..

As I'm a Real Zaragoza fan, and as it seems that we aren't getting promoted to spanish first division this year neither, I started a save with them to try to get to the top. Spent a nice first season, winning second by 9 points, being first almost all of the season, and then started second season... which is not being so nice:

http://i68.tinypic.com/29fckcl.png

That's the first time I get promoted and then have problems with relegation... It seems that I'll have a busy january, with some signings and tactical adjustment... At least the board are still pleased

Had to spent some money on the winter transfer window...

...and it had a very bad side effect: my balance is currently 11M € in the red. I predict no signings this summer...

Team down the road for me. Good luck pal is that the biggest challenge you have faced thus far?

Thanks! Certainly the biggest one in this save, though at conference level there are plenty of clubless players to pick up who will improve the squad, and this far out in the game there's also enough unemployed staff to fill up with both scouts, coaches and physios. Scouts in particular is important since I'm only allowing myself to sign players my scouts recommend or that I know from my players' international games.

Half a season at the club and things are looking pretty good! Had a somewhat bumpy start to the season, but we are 2nd in the league and out of all the cups so we only have the league to concentrate on (not that I would mind a good cup run or two!).

http://s19.postimg.org/wvs96hx0j/jan27.jpg

The squad I took over in the summer was thin and weak, but thankfully I was able to lure some decent scouts to the club and they have helped tonnes. The guy scouring Sweden for talent before Christmas in particular deserves some credit, signed three Swedes just before Christmas and they have started well, the latest signing even managed to secure the young player of the month-award after only half a month! December was a very good month, we climbed from 7-8th to 2nd and all three monthly awards ended at the club. Hopefully we'll keep that up!

Finished the first season with Frickley, and it went better than expected, considering the quality of the squad at the start of the season. Some good and plenty of half-decent players came in, and for a while it looked like promotion could be achieved already in the first year. A severe dip in form at the end of the season, however, meant that we had to see Torquay well ahead of us when the season was finished.

Had a poor squad when I arrived, after a year I'd say it's fairly good for Conference standards, but there's still lots and lots and lots of work to do to make it rise through the divisions.

http://s19.postimg.org/wkpi1pilf/2627squad.jpg

Sean Wharton was my first signing to the club, he was on my shortlist from before and I thought he would be an excellent addition to the team and was hoping for him to bang in goals for fun. He did not do that, but had a really poor contribution despite playing well, so I brought in Swedish striker Stefan Lindstrøm in December, He started very well, scoring 5 goals in 7 games, then he stopped scoring and I gave Wharton another chance again, which he took. Unfortunately he retired at the end of the season, so unless Lindstrøm starts scoring more I need a new striker sooner rather than later.

John King was a midfielder at the club when I arrived, and he is the only one of the original players that has done a good job. Not outstanding, but good enough to be first choice MC without a doubt, and I'm not looking to replace him before I've strengthened several other areas. I expect him to stay in the team for a couple of seasons at least. Nick Read also was at the club from the start, and he's been decent, but attacking midfield is an area that needs better players. To his defence he has played much better than his attributes should indicate, and he has been consistently pretty good.

Defensive midfielder Bo Olausson wins the award for "most unlucky player", he got 9 games before being ruled out for three months, and then he played 12 minutes before getting injured for another month.

There weren't many players to be found in the summer, apart from a couple of defenders, but my scouts are all over the place so I expect many more signings during the season.

Played through August of the 27/28 season, and so far we are top of the table. The first thing that met me in the mailbox when September set in was this, completely out of the blue:

Time for a new update from me, I've been playing on my sixteen manager Danish (so far) save, just finished the first season! Unsurprisingly, I both got promoted and relegated and finished everywhere in between :p

http://s19.postimg.org/dt8gnqhk3/0102.jpg

No big surprises in the top, all three promoted teams looked like likely candidates for promotion when I arrived, and they've been competing for the top three places all season. Birkerød disappointed a bit towards the end of the season, they were first for a long time and then gradually fell down and ended 7th. Nørresundby disappointed even more, looking good to begin with and they're among the teams who have strengthened the squad the most, yet fighting relegation all season and only climbing above the line in the last game. Kalundborg had the thinnest squad and backroom staff of them all and looked doomed right from the start, while Ølstykke was a team I was sorry to see go down as they were among the more enjoyable teams to manage. I hope they come up again in a year!

I have decided on some managerial rules that I will follow throughout the various careers, which will hopefully be more entertaining than annoying.

- I will have my scouts out at all times (as many as the clubs can get, which for many clubs right now is one), and whenever they regard someone as "excellent" I shall attempt to sign them, regardless of whether I actually need them. This will probably lead to some bloated squads, but also to a lot of interesting players from potentially unusual countries. I have a winger from Bermuda at one of the clubs now, I don't often play with Bermudan players. If the player they recommend is at one of my other clubs, I shall accept the bid and let the player decide.

- Transfer list and relegate to reserves anyone who averages 6.50 or less in more than five games after the season.

- Promote to seniors anyone who is awarded man of the match awards in reserve games. Current plan is one MoM needed in the lowest division, and one more per division above, but that might change if I end up with too crowded squads.

- Whenever I move to a new club, I must change tactic, and preferably to some tactic I am not using at another club.

- No moving clubs until one of the following happens: a: I win the league or cup, b: I get sacked, or c: A club approaches me on their own. The plan is to move from Denmark and spread out across Europe and possibly beyond (all leagues loaded). I don't think I like the idea of having to move on once I've won stuff, but the opportunity is there and I will probably exploit it.

I am really enjoying this save at the moment, though I'll definitely play more on the other main save in the near future too. :)

Brilliant restrictions, brilliant game idea, I just don't know how you cope with it all!

You have to deal the mental anguish of 3 job rejections for a job that you actually get, assuming all 4 of your sacked managers apply for that Sagelse job!

Did you not apply for each other's jobs when they were all sacked?

Distillery are once more hesitant. Do they really want to get promoted ? The charity Shield gave them an excellent start as they humiliated Warrenpoint 5-2, with a wonderful 100% of shots on target (12/12 !) and two expulsions which didn't stop them to score once more. They were granted a ticket for the UEFA Cup qual. and surprised their fans when they crushed Widzew Lodz (H: 2-1; A: 3-1). Rapid Wien were next and more vigilant (A: 0-1; H: 1-2). Still a good experience which wheted Distillery's appetite (or at last I hoped so). They have a chance to reach a higher level this season, but they have the bad habit to mess in the last few games...

Ballyclare are doing good as usual, firmly rooted in the top three of the NIP. They played the UEFA Cup qual. too and easily defeated the welsh of Port Talbot Town (H: 5-2; A: 2-2). The first round vs Malaga was an impossible task and they suffered a rout (A: 0-2; H: 1-3).

I think I'm gonna get sacked for the first time with H&W. They are playing horribly bad this year and I'm now very unpopular. I can't put what's going wrong with the defence. Maybe it's too dangerous to try the offside trap at this level of competence ? I tested ten players in the back and only a few are performing over 6.00. Tom Leggett (http://i.imgur.com/PlmsNdK.jpg) for example is very disappointing, especially for a former U21. We found no young genius (and have no time to train them anyway), cannot loan, so some africans freshly arrived as the mercato started. Ibrahima Ba (http://i.imgur.com/OpyLhLd.jpg) is the best of them (so yes, it looks really helpless now). Ed Burke (http://i.imgur.com/tZEyTB9.jpg) should be our creative playmaker but nothing come from him, Roger Svensson (http://i.imgur.com/Oowo1ph.jpg) will never become Svenssonovitch, Ryan Seager (http://i.imgur.com/ZzO6Q17.jpg) fell into a wormhole and I-don't-know-what-he's-doing-here-and-for-how-long but a least he wants to help the club. Still, it's strange to see how poorly H&W are playing this season, after getting promoted in the end of 2019/20 (with a crappy squad). They had a possibility to climb up last year. I didn't saw this bad season coming. The opposition must be tougher I suppose.

Armagh are leading the NIF since the start of the season. That's a bit curious due to their handicaps, but they have a strong defence, surely the strongest of the league. They are not invincible of course. They can aim for the podium, maybe the promotion.

Not a fabulous time for Crusaders. Their forwards attributes decreased a lot last year and now is the team unbalanced to the rear. The relegation menace is no too far away, a lot of work has to be done.

It's the first time I see Donegal at this level and they are performing well. They started with only two players, but two good ones (a MC with passing=18 and a FC with heading=17 and jumping=19). A good recruitment with some very decent picks gave the club a fair performance so far. Their handicaps are not the best to cope with : improving the team will be problematic as they won't score much and I can't keep the good players in.

The third incarnation of QUB ! It already smells like a failure. The three DMC are playing tap-tap-tap and when they lose the ball there is no one left behind to help the goalie. The tactic could have been better :)

This was the january 2023 update of "How you didn't win the league despite managing half of the teams".

"Hello?"

Nationals Only - Season Thirteen (Part 2 of 2)
Ref: http://www.champman0102.co.uk/showthread.php?t=266

Wow! I last posted an update for this a month ago. My apologies, I got distracted with tactic testing; now where were we... Ah yes Olympique de Marseille of France. I was on to my final country and would be joining Marseille midway through their current season. At the time of my appointment the (now) 12 times French champions were struggling in sixth place which had resulted in the board deciding to take drastic action with three months of the season remaining.

My first task was to review the squad and see how far we were away from making it a nationals only side. I immediately listed 16 players who didn't match the criteria and by the end of the season there was just one left. In response to the outgoing players I signed just three players in the form of Aziz Jean, David Ospina nad Eric Coulibaly.

The three months left of the season didn't give me the opportunity to make much of an impact and I treated the time as a chance to experiment with the side and see who was best being played where. We put together a good run of results which at one point looked like would take us on to the title but a stuttering end of season splutter saw us finish in third place. Coinciding with our good run of form was the French Cup which saw us make it all the way to the final where Montpellier were dispatched 2-1 to give me my first French silverware.

I was thinking about starting a new game with Leicester 3.9.68 and see if I can win the premiership before 2016.
It all depend on their finance, I guess, but it should be relatively easy to do.

Edit: I just started the game. My first assessment, promotion should be achievable, I was afraid the club would be bankrupt, but no, there's 5 millions euro available, Billy McKinlay even has a 0 euro per year contract and I would never had guess that Wes Morgan was in truth Frank Sinclair regen :D

Now they gotta gotta gotta set him free. Oh no... that was John Sinclair.

I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. The original database is really easy. With non wib wob I got Forest out of the first division and immediately won the premiership without signing any cheat players other than taribo west (couldn't resist!)

I should get them promoted fairly easily, it's after that that I fear. I have an whole set of personal ethical rules that makes the games more complicated.

No Taribo West happen to be the second one.

I've started as Grimsby, in Division 1. The main thing I've noticed immediately is there's a lot greater emphasis on your own knowledge, rather than relying on staff. But also finding players - you of course have the player search, which is quite limited in terms of the number of players it displays, but I quite prefer this. Searching for those golden hidden gems is of course a pleasure too.

I finished my second season (my first in the premiership) with leicester .68. I finished 5th, which is not so bad, but 26 points behind Arsenal who won their second premier division in a row. And, it really feel like I'm at light years from challenging the top teams.

After the begining of the season, a bit in panic mode, I bought Mickaël Llorente from Montpellier. He was the player of the season for me. He won the young player of the month award twice and maintain a average of 7.1. I played a long game with Montpellier a few years ago, it's weird that I didn't remember him at all. In real life, he's career didn't go as well...

Other than that, West Ham got relegated, I might try to get Joe Cole and Jermaine Defoe.

My third season with Leicester is going a little less well: we suck bad. We are 13th right now with our next game being on boxing day. What amazes me is that I went through my players after our last game, 5 idiots were proud of our league position, Steve Finnan even thought that I was extremely competent. We're battling to remain in the premiership, when we shoud be battling for champions league!

Talking of our last game, 5 players with rating of 5! I had giving up, I was satisfy with a draw at Anfield, but has you can see (McNamee entered at the 84th minute and he has the assist on Llorente goal) by some sort of miracle, we scored in the dying minute and we won the game.

Allright! My pc is working again, and I'm playing CM again! When it died, I was in the middle of the 2027/28 season with Frickley Athletic in Conference, having finished 2nd the season before. This season the goal was promotion, and the bid was successful!

https://s19.postimg.org/hovp141lv/2728.jpg

Pretty decent squad this season, I'm particularly impressed by the start my new starlet striker has had. It will be interesting to see how he will evolve and if he will be good enough to follow me up through the divisions. Should be good enough for a few levels up, at least.

I've been playing mainly on my 16 managers Danish (at least originally) save, and after the Christmas update the last jobless manager finally got a job!

Amongst the clubs promoted into the Swedish second division was Kalix, a club with no player, one coach and one physio. A bit of a challenge, considering that I only sign players that my scouts recommend getting players will take some time. There aren't any scouts interested in joining the club either.

https://s19.postimg.org/5em2qajhf/Kalix.jpg

The three promoted teams in the Danish 1st division are all doing reasonably well, with Fremad Amager doing extremey well. I have good hopes for geting at least one team into the top division next season. The 2nd division is about as expected, with only two of the AI controlled teams above any of my teams. As long as I get three teams promoted and none relegated I am happy.

Baunatal in the German Regional are doing better than expected, considering that there were no players there when I took over. The start of the season was pretty bad, but as the autumn progressed more and more games were won and avoiding relegation seems very doable.

Austria are also doing well, 2nd in their EC qualification group, behind Spain who are ahead on goal difference.

I have 2 pricks in my squad making dumb comments to the press which resulted in other players disliking them:
-21yo French LB Charrier who publicly said he wanted to move to another club
-28yo English DRC Walton who told the press that we needed to invest in better players right after a 1-0 CL loss to a team down to 10 men in the 1st half

Started a journeyman games in Italy trying to get to the top using the old Catenaccio formation.

Season 1
Club - Aversa Normanna
League - C2B - 5th promoted via playoffs
Cup - C Cup -out in group stage

Decent season, took me a while to get a formation that really worked for me but in the end managed to settle on one. Just before Christmas really hit some form and that saw us through to the end of the year. We were in immense form towards the end of the year and we got into the playoffs. We won all four games in the playoffs and ended up being promoted. I was particularly pleased that we did not concede many.

Season 2
Club - Aversa Normanna
League - C1B - 3rd promoted via playoffs
Cup - C Cup -Winners

Again our stingy defence was the main reason for our promotion charge this campaign. We did well and we were in and around the title chase all year round. At the end of the year we suffered from injurys and lost out on the title with two games to go. In the playoffs our starters were back and it showed as we outclassed all our rivals to seal back to back promotion.

The C Cup is a competition which I never seem to do well in. This year was different as we only conceded two goals in our run to the final. We sealed the win with a 2-0 win home and away.

Next season
Big step up for my team and I am not sure how we will fair. I expect I will have to dip into the market to try and keep this team up. I will more than likely be here for the next season before trying to get a job elsewhere.

I was just relegated with Man Utd, lol. I have been playing for a lot of seasons now, as Lanciano for a while and then Ipswich for a few years. When the Man Utd job came up I couldn't resist. They were rock bottom in the Prem, 8 points after 16 games or so. They had a 36 year old De Gea in goal, a brilliant 21 year old regen striker, a lot of rubbish and 225 million in the bank.

Seriously, why don't the AI managers spend their money when needed...

Anyway, I brought in four new players in the January window (had other targets too but their clubs refused to sell) and we slowly started to pick up points, but it was not enough and we finished 19th with 33 points.

Board is still delighted with my performance, though!

Been playing some more on the save with Darmstadt, currently second in the Second Division after 11 games. It's a bit nice to have an easy game for a change (using the "I Need Passing" 442 tactic, so it would be weird if the team wasn't in the top). Just beat fellow second divisioners Ahlen in the 2nd round of the Cup, and my newest signing Natan was given a chance to show what he was good for. I wasn't sure that it was worth spending money on another central midfielder when I had three good ones, but he looks very promising and cost only £35k. And what a debut that was!

https://s19.postimg.org/4abrq05cz/Natandebut.jpg

If he keeps that up, he and midfield companion Holger Wohland will probably get us promoted all by themselves.

Finished the 2028/29 season with Frickley, and it was another good season. A spell of bad form in November/December put sme doubts on our promotion capabilites, but they were soon gone as the season progressed and we climbed up to first again and had an increasing gap down to the pursuing teams.

[/spoiler]https://s19.postimg.org/tae6l3ggz/2829.jpg[/spiler]

The squad was pretty decent overall, with a few players performing excellently. Several of my best players are very young, so if I can manage to keep them at the club, the future looks bright. Steven Wilkinson has a release clause at 1.8M at the moment, and I'm trying to get Neil Parker to sign a new contract without a release clause at all. Promotion means increased player values, so I might lose a few players as clubs meet their release clauses after the update. I am trying to pre-empt that by renewing contracts now, but making young talented players sign new contracts with a 3rd division team without a release clause isn't easy...

While the team is certainly more than good enough for dominating the 4th tier, improvments are needed for competing higher up. The transfer plan for this summer is a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a left back, prefereably one who also can play in other positions. Maybe something else will appear too, that's up to my scouts. ;)

My entire club from players down to staff are currently all Welsh men and I am still trying to figure out a 3 CB, 2 WB & 1 Striker formation that works as a homage to the Wales team during Euro 2016. :)

3rd & 4th season with Wrexham finished as champions of Conference & 3rd div with games to spare.

Made a great run in the league cup but lost to Man City in the semis:- drew 1-1 at home (2nd choice keeper made a hash of a catch and gifted them an equaliser) and lost 1-0 away (same keeper gave away a penalty in the last 5 mins, maybe he's a City fan!?). Premiership scalps along the way included Stoke(away 0-2), Swansea(home 1-0) and Man U(home 3-2).

I remember seeing someone asking about gate receipts in cup competitions somewhere and I can confirm that away cup ties against bigger clubs bring in mini windfalls for small clubs. I played Spurs away in the FA cup and Stoke away in the league cup, Spurs attendance 30k+ & Stoke attendance 20k+. Both games netted me more gate receipts than my home cup games, including sold out attendances of 10k+ against Swansea and the 2 Manchesters.

Hello everyone,

I'm doing a little experiment with my Sheff Wed team. I'm going to turn an average striker into the most valuable player in this save game - well that's the theory anyway. I'm using Ultimate_Iodine to try and achieve this and I'll post updates as the seasons progress.

Here's my striker:

http://i.imgur.com/B3CrL4k.png

He's alright, I'll give him that, but my scouts have correctly interpreted that he's not going to get much better than this. His PA is less than 100, in the 90s if I recall correctly. He is a professional player though, loyal too, so he shouldn't be difficult to keep. He will also 'rarely succumb to injury', as my physio puts it.

He is currently worth a tame £475k, hoping to get that to £20m+ eventually!

That has to be one of my greatest Championship Manager achievements!

Year 3

We won the league again.

Year 4

We're currently top of the league in November and have a very strong British lineup of:

GK: Fraser Forster (£9.5m)
DR: Jon Flanagan (£5.5m)
DL: Danny Rose (£2.9m)
DC: Ashley Williams (£4.1m)
DC: Steven Caulker (£3m)
MC: Lee Cattermole (£800k)
MC: Gareth Bale (£24m)
ML: Tim Ince (£6m)
MR: Nathan Redmond (£2m)
ST: Benik Afobe (£2.4m)
ST: Marcus Rashford (£7.75m)

Needless to say, Gareth Bale is setting all kinds of club records. We're hoping to make a big impact in the Champions League, after failing to make the knockout stage last season.

I've not had this much fun with Championship Manager in years!

Yea Barcelona are still a top side, Luis Enrique didn't get fired until halfway through the 9th season after finishing 2-4 in the first seven seasons and 6th in his eight season, winning no trophies at all. Pocchettino took over, they are harder to beat now.

Using the April 2016 Data Update, I took over Blackpool with the aim of getting the club into the Premier League as soon as possible :). The reason I chose Blackpool is that they have had some bad experiences for a few years, and are now playing in League 2 in real life.

In the 2015-2016 season Blackpool were relegated from League 1 in real life(having played in the Premier League as recently as 2011), and the initial target was to avoid relegation and, at the very least, attempt to get into the Play-Offs.

After reviewing the squad, I felt the need to strengthen in a number of areas. Stand-out players were ex-Burnley striker Martin Paterson, central midfielder David Norris, and agile goalkeeper Colin Doyle. Ex-Swansea midfielder Andrea Orlandi was also a notable name in the squad. The board set a target of achieving a respectable league position, so promotion was not a necessity to stay in the job.

I felt as though I needed to add a lot more quality if I was to challenge for promotion, but was restricted by Blackpool's financial position. While not on the verge of Administration the club had no transfer funds and (if I remember correctly) was running a deficit, so the first thing I did was to use the Player Search to look for some free transfers.

Players that were interested were demanding wages that I could not offer, and knowing that the Player Search function does not include all players that are available on a free, I used the Find -> Player function and typed in "No Club". I wanted to maximise my chances of promotion so I began going through each page of players without a club, assigning my scouts to players that had their stats hidden, and also offering trials to players in an effort to maximise my chances of finding quality players that would come to the club.

Again, wages were an issue, as were signing on fees. I decided to place a lot of players on the Transfer List in an effort to get funds in, and had reasonable success, with the largest fee received being £525k for youth prospect Henry Cameron. This then helped attract the following players to the club -

Edgaras Cesnauskis -

There was a noticeable lack of pace in the squad(excluding left-back David Ferguson), and Cesnauskis helped provide some on the wing, as well as having Impressive overall stats.

https://s16.postimg.org/rt3qzkhlh/Edgaras_Cesnauskis16_17.jpg

Ovidiu Herea

I wanted a central attacking midfielder of a certain standard as I get my teams to play a short passing game, and Herea fitted that requirement.

https://s16.postimg.org/w62ahzqc5/Ovidiu_Herea16_17.jpg

Jermaine Taylor

The signing of Taylor was very important as our defence was not very strong for a League 1 team. He provided pace and leadership, and very good overall defensive stats. I was unsure whether he would be given a work permit so I was pleasantly surprised when he was given one :)!

https://s16.postimg.org/qs3iag0lx/Jermaine_Taylor16_17.jpg

Mikele Leigertwood

Leigertwood initially rejected my contract offers, but as the transfer window went on and he received no other contract offers he eventually decided to join(he was signed on deadline day). He performed the role of box-to-box midfielder very well, scoring 15 goals in the season and forming a central midfield partnership with playmakers David Norris and Andrea Orlandi(depending on who was playing).

https://s16.postimg.org/9g35p074l/Mikele_Leigertwood16_17.jpg

There were some transfer funds available after signing some of these players, and it was invested in signing striker Leon Best for £300k, to strengthen our attacking options.

(There were many other players signed on free transfers, and the above was just a selection of them)

I played with my favourite attacking 4-4-2 formation, with one winger advancing to an AML/AMR position, and the other winger advancing to an AMC position, while in possession of the ball. With Ball tactics were used in the final quarter of the pitch, where the 3 most offensive midfielders were moved into the penalty area, and the playmaker moving into a central midfield position to offer a passing option to the player with the ball.

As the season progressed we climbed the table, eventually sitting top for an extended period beginning after Christmas. The January loan signing of talented West Ham youngster Martin Samuelson strengthened the squad further, and the battle to win the league eventually came down to two teams, us and Rochdale. Grant Holt was Rochdale's star player, and possibly the best player in the league. It was often neck-and-neck between us during the last 10 games of the season, with us playing Rochdale with around 6 games to go. We defeated Rochdale to go 3 points clear, and just needed to maintain a level of consistency to take the title. Unfortunately for us we came up against some in-form goalkeepers in the remaining fixtures. We would often create a lot of chances, and would either not take them and/or find the opposition goalkeeper in excellent form. That, combined with the fact that we were very offensive and not the strongest defensively, resulted in us losing the title on the final day, being sent down to ten men and drawing the final game of the season, with the league finishing like this -

https://s16.postimg.org/9nqslii39/2016_17_Second_Division_Final_Standings.jpg

While it was disappointing not to win the title, promotion to the Championship was achieved :)!

Here are some other free transfers from my first season as Blackpool manager -

Daniele Rosso

Rosso provided pace and excellent movement, and contributed with some key goals during the season(13 in 26 appearances). Rosso, Leon Best, Martin Paterson, and Kamel Ghilas were the four main strikers during the season, with Habib Bamogo(another free transfer) also playing a minor role.

https://s13.postimg.org/ru7sy2kdj/Daniele_Rosso16_17.jpg

Piotr Brozek

Another free transfer, Brozek provided 10 assists during the season, but had to share the left-back spot with David Ferguson after Christmas due to Ferguson's good form. Brozek has since moved on after a squad overhaul in the 2016 summer.

https://s13.postimg.org/y6my7wnfr/Piotr_Brozek16_17.jpg

Emmanuel Eboue

Eboue was the subject of a lot of interest from clubs, and initially rejected my contract offer. As with Leigertwood, time went on and he didn't have a club, and I made another offer, which he eventually accepted, and played a key role throughout the season. Eboue has also moved on, due to a lack of first-team opportunities in the 2016-17 season.

https://s13.postimg.org/sxrxa150n/Emmanuel_Eboue16_17.jpg

Kamel Ghilas

Ghilas was a player that I knew from one of my saves from years ago when I managed Celta. He didn't manage to get into the team as frequently as Paterson, Best, and Rosso, but he did provide 7 goals in 10 appearances. He was also moved on in the summer due to the summer 2016 squad overhaul, being signed by rivals Preston North End.

https://s13.postimg.org/5xl9xp76v/Kamel_Ghilas16_17.jpg

Mawouna Amevor

Amevor was a loan signing for the first part of the season, with his height combining well with Jermaine Taylor's pace in central defence. His good form attracted Barnsely, who then signed him in January(he was raplced by loan signing Lewin Nyatanga in the second part of the season).

A couple of memorable FA Cup Third Round games against Bristol City -

First Leg

A great performance from ex-Watford striker Mathias Ranegie(signed during the summer) brought it back from 3-1 down.

https://s13.postimg.org/mhwlwfivr/FACup_3rd_Round_Leg1_2016_17.png

Second Leg

January signing Christian Atsu(a free transfer in January) equalised in the 75th minute before we were sent down to 10 men. We went down to 9 men after David McGoldrick suffered an injury. Bristol City went down to 10 men after Mark Beevers was injured. Ex-Watford midfielder Liam Bridcutt scored the winner -

https://s13.postimg.org/f0neh7tcn/FACup_3rd_Round_Leg2_2016_17.png

In the league we're currently top, nine points clear with 28 games to go -

https://s11.postimg.org/5vd18bmib/Championship_Standings18_01_2017_2016_17.png

Our defence has improved from last season, and in fact we have the best defence in the league. The whole squad was overhauled in the summer, with a lot of free transfers being brought in. In December of the previous season I went through a lot of clubs and sorted the players by contract expiry date, in order to see who I could try and sign on a free. Key players (with high stats in Influence) such as Frank Fielding(17), Joe Mattock(16), Dean Hammond(19), Liam Bridcutt(14), Tommy Rowe(20) and David McGoldrick(16) were signed this way. I'm unsure how much importance is placed on the Influence stat in the game but I like having a large number of leaders in the squad.

I am tempted to start a story about this save game but I don't feel as though I write enough for it to warrant being a story!

Some of you with a keen memory and an unnerving interest in my posts will remember I tried to turn an average striker into the most expensive player on the game. I chose Boston Utd forward Dayle Southwell. The problem was he was actually better than I realised. His potential wasn't great (around 90-100 IIRC) but he had decent stats in all the right places, including good jumping/heading/strength, which made it easy for him to become expensive in a crack tactic with a lone forward.

So, I've decided to re-do the challenge with a worsererer striker, namely young Belgian 'prospect' Jos Wellens, who I've signed on a free for Walsall. Together we'll ride up the leagues and become superpowers - MUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!

So far we've completed one season and all is going well, especially so for Jos, who bagged 30 goals and had a shot on target % stat of 73%, amazing given his lack of finishing skills. I can only imagine he scored a lot of tap-ins!

http://i.imgur.com/SnkPnQh.png

His value has sky-rocketed already, from a paltry £26k to a frankly mediocre £240k. Another plus is that he likes the club and the manager (who wouldn't?) so I can't see him going anywhere.

I'll genuinely probably keep people informed of his, and Walsall's, progress as we take over the footballing world one season at a time.

Started a new game in Portugal.

I picked Sporting.

Going non wib wob. I don't have any money to spend so will have to make do with the squad I have.

Though I have Bas Dost up front and William Carvhalo who will hopefully protect my defenders.

Looking for a top two finish in the first season and a reasonable european outing.

Season 1 Sporting Lisbon

I choose to start with a non wib-wob 4-2-3-1 Formation with central midfielders with farrows up. Though if I was struggling or behind in a game I would move my central midfielders up behind the my lone striker.

I signed Phillip Wollscheid from Stoke for cheap enough to reinforce a weak looking defence. I also brought in veteran Michael Essien as back up to my defensive midfielders. Though he didn't feature much during the season.

One of my scouts found a young Italian FC which I believe could be Totti's regen during the October aswell. In January I also bought Pablo Piatti on a whim.

League Season

To my surprise we bossed the league. Porto where awful all season and finished in 6th place. Benfica finished 2nd though they where incredibly inconsistent. Our only lose in the league came from benfica though.

We finished on 83 points with only one lose all season. Bas Dost finished top scorer in the league and he also was the top rated player in the league.

Europe

We where drawn with Man City, Dortmund and Kazkhastan giants Astana in the first phase of the Champions league. We started with an impressive and win over Dortmund at home. Of course we threw that away with a dissapointing 1-0 loss to Astana away from home. The double headers against Man city featured us getting thrased 4-0 in the Etihad but managed to sneek a win at home 2-1. We lost heavily to Dortmund but ended the group positively with a 6-0 thrashing of Astana. We finished third in the group with me only thinking about that awful away loss to Astana.

We drew Nice in the Europa league. We lost 1-0 away from home in the 1st leg. We managed to take the second leg to penalties but lost. So Europe was over before christmas which was dissapointing.

Taca de Portugal

We breezed to through the rounds and managed to avoid Porto and Benfica. We won the final against Moreirense 2-1.

We completed the double in my first season. Which is more than I thought we could do. Bas Dost was the start scoring 42 goals. William Carvalho was the star in midfield though I expect him to get a hell of alot of attention during the summer. Fingers crossed I can keep him.

Expectations for next season?

I hope to retain the league. 2nd phase in the champions league is the aim. I certainly want to be in Europe after christmas.

Ive not long signed up to the site and just started my first football management game in a long time, and what better game to get back into the swing of things with.

So I'll make this relatively short and sweet.

In the few short hours an evening Ive been playing with Man Utd, I finished 2nd in my first season to Arsenal and beat Roma in the European or "Champions League" final.

Started the second season last night which began abysmally!! Lost 5 or 6 games in the league and had the old "unhappy with the current league position" etc etc from the players.

We have since gone on a decent little run and now sit 2nd, again behind Arsenal with I think 24 games gone (Im in work so cant think exactly but its there or thereabouts).

My team usual starting team as it stands after 1 and a half seasons is as follows:

Barthez
Wes Brown Hoffland Silvestre
G Neville Giggs
Tonton Zola Veron
Zidane

Anelka RVN

Season Overview 2017/2018

Sadly before the end of last season Phillip Wolscheid Minimum fee was matched. A small amount £975,000 took him away from us and he joined Hoffenheim. I had spent 1.5 million on him. Forgot to put up his Min. Fee clause!. Quite a few pre arranged signings came in. Podence, Duarte and Figueiredo came in and where sent to the reserves. These signings where made before I came to the club. They where decent back ups.

Andy Najar from Anderlecht came in to strenghten the right wing back role. Schellotto was going to have a lot of competition and thats the way it panned out during the season with Najar making twice the amount of Starts. Nikola Vlasic came in on a free and so did Jeremie Boga. Boga looks hit and miss and played for Sporting B only this season. Vlasic had a great effect in the team.

My fear before the start of the season would be William Carvahlo leaving and not having a decent replacement. I brought in Besic from Everton for a little under five million. Tomas Kalas from Chelsea was brought as well for 1.5 million. Kalas couldnt dislodge Oliveria and Douglas partnership all season. Douglas who had to patiently wait for a chance took it.

I also managed to bag Luan on a free transfer in January. Luan is a class act. Wonderkid Rodrigo Amaral also joined for the price of a packet of chips. He didn't feature much as Dost kept scoring and Gutierrez was a handy second choice.

I sold William Carvahlo in January to Man Utd. They bid £40 million. I can't argue with that kind of money. Porto captain Ruben Neves came in to replace him.

I kept to my same formation as last year. 4-2-3-1 . I started to play my three central midfielders further up the pitch and dominated games.

League Campaign

We cruised to a league win. It took 28 games to beat us. Benfica edging us at home. Benfica finished 22 points behind us. Porto finished fourth.

Champions League

My aim for the european campaign was to get through to the second phase. We went well past those expectations. We drew Man United, Zenit and Gent. We beat the red devils 2-0 at home on opening match day and continued with a 4-1 trouncing of Zenit away from home the next week. We would finish second in the group behind United , but we had qualified!.

The second phase group we where drawn in included Juventus, Atleti and Chelsea. Much tougher opposition. We where first away to Ath. Madrid. We smashed them 4-0 for my greatest victory so far on this save. We would lose the following week at home to Chelsea . Going into the final match day whe needed to beat Chelsea away from home to steal their last eight spot. Ryan Gauld would score a 91st minute winner to send us through.

We drew Man City in the Quarter Finals. A 2-1 loss away was followed by another historic night at the alvalade. A brillant win capped off by too crisp team goals by Luan and Piatti. The big name signings paying off. We would be back in Manchester for the semi finals. I was confident we could do them. We went down two nil early at home but would magically come back to draw 2-2 in the opening league. The second leg just didn't go our way and we lost 3-1 and could have been alot more. Still a superb achievement to get that far!.

Taca de Portugal

Went out just as we entered. A tight loss to Vic. de Guimaraes. I didn't really care because European advancement was my aim for the season.

So I'm about to resign and try to find a new job. Have no idea where I will end up!.

Interesting to see where you end up with this England squad.

After reading this blasphemous comment made be EL-Toppo in some different thread:

MK Dons - Try and repeat their FA Cup final success back when they were little old Wimbledon FC (even if they no longer wish to be associated with that name)

I simply had to start a new game with the actual Dons. Been following them somewhat due to their background story and visited them last year once and made the trip back for the legendary win at Wembley. (Gloryhunter comments may come in now)

Only signed a Danish rightback at the start of the season that my scout found, other than that the squad looked definitely good enough to get something like mid-table in this first League One season. Halfway through I was fighting for the top spot so made some more transfers to hope and push for actual promotion:
https://i.imgur.com/wQrEJxN.png

In the end the squad still lacked too much in defence, unfortunately my signing of a really good defender I found couldn't go through because of finance but nevertheless we made it to Wembley twice this season, so that is three times in two seasons for the Dons.

First:
https://i.imgur.com/Gn1oVTF.png

And then also via this route:
https://i.imgur.com/1xGGvnd.png

Could have been so different as we lost our last game of the season away to Millwall but results elsewhere really really went our way. Quite the tight race it was. I was happy having to face Charlton in the playoffs because we beat them twice easily during the season and we managed to repeat the fact:
https://i.imgur.com/V90vOqo.png

So we went back to Wembley to face Rochdale in the final and we just about managed to do it!
https://i.imgur.com/yALvGVY.png

Mendez-Laing is a loanee who I can really recommend in the lower leagues, also signing for us on a bosman now.
EDIT: Lol, just noticed he is loaned from Rochdale, that oughta hurt.

So lots of work to do because this lot is not going to have an easy team in the Championship. Moreover, the fake dons also promoted and we really have to set the record straight after the horrorshow we made of this season (Away match ended 1-1):

Starting my 3rd season with Southampton. Last year we won the Premiership, 4 points ahead of Leicester. We got eliminated in the Champions Leage semis by Man City, but this year i hope we can conquer.
The first eleven are (4-1-3-2):
Forster
Balanta - Sakho - Ingason - Soares
Dendoncker

Bad luck.

Personally, UEFA Euros have always been the most challenging tournaments for me.
More difficult than World Cup for sure.

A few matches in a row with no time for an essential rest.
My advice is to choose the best available players and prepare two comparable squads used interchangeably.

My Polish team's achievements below.

I am having a great save with my brother right now (or saves I should say). We have made two different saves, since we can't play together because we live in different countries and don't have the time to share a saved game, but we've made a challenge where we get points for winning different trophies. We play with the original database .60 in the English league system, and it all ends by 2020. The player that have collected the most points by the end of season 2019/20 gets a whole night of free beers and food the next time we meet. So, a lot is at stake I can say!

I am already at 2010/11 season, my brother is a little bit behind (2008/09 I think) but before I give you an update of how things are coming along, let me give you the rules.
My brother had carefully selected two teams in the conference league, which we have to manage until 2020 or we get sacked (to a great cost of points of course).

Rule #1 - The Tactics

We both decided that we could use wib/wob tactics, anyone. Not just our own but we could use any from the forum (Iodine for example), since we are not great tacticans and we have some other stipulations that makes it not so easy as well.

Rule #2 - The Players

We are only allowed to buy players from the UK and Ireland. If the team we started to manage had foreign players in the beginning of the game, we had to get rid of them before the first match in the Conference League (or else we would be punished with great point loss). To make things even harder (because of allowing Wib/Wob) we are using the EEC3 hack, so the other teams in the leagues can buy how many foreign players they want.

Rule #3 - The Points

Every trophy you win or award a player in your team win gets you points, for example winning Conference league is worth 300 points, winning F.A Cup 1200, winning PL 2000, winning CL 4000. We are not sure how balanced the point system is, but this is our first try so we have to just see how things turn out. Winning leagues without losing a game can give you a point boost as well, so it's really important to stick to a good tactic. The player with most points at the end of season 2019/20 is the winner and gets a whole night of free beer, booze and food.

Rule #4 - The Teams

My brother chose two teams for us (I think he just used random.org) and we have to stick to that team at all time, unless we get sacked which costs a great deal of points and you must start over in the Conference league with a new team. Tough luck since winning premier league and the european cups are essential for winning the game. But if you get sacked with a good tactic from here you definitely deserve it as well. I got Leigh RMI and my brother got Stalybridge Celtic. We keep each other updated with pictures, stories and interviews on our own Facebook group, dedicated to this CM 01/02 save. (Which I will not share here because it's not written in English and I don't want to share our Facebook accounts)

That's about it I think! I am already in 2010/11 season as I wrote a little further up. So I have a lot to write and some pictures to upload which I will give you tomorrow night or Thursday night if work gets in the way. But I can say this much, it's one of the funniest saves I've ever played!

So for some reason, pictures won't I put up in the post won't get uploaded. Get "not a valid image file" when I try even if it is jpg, jpeg, png...So this will not be as I expected, but will post some links here.

However, have played with Leigh RMI now for 10 seasons and things starting to get really good!
Went straight from Conference to Premier League in consecutive seasons, Jamie Victory has been with me since the start and have made a huge impact on the pitch. He has been captain for the most of the time and now, 34 years old he have left the main squad to pave the way for RMI's youngsters.

I have won a bunch of trophies but the PL gold has not been mine to conquer yet, Man Utd have had they own empire and won the PL in TWELVE consecutive seasons! They simply won't lose! Their best year was around 2004/05 when they went unbeaten for 46 games in the league. So Premier League has pretty much been like the Scottish Premier League I can say. However, my luck has been better out in Europe where I've won UEFA Cup 2 times and the Champions League last season.

Picture showing Manchester Uniteds dominance through a whole decade:
http://imgur.com/mZj77AF

Now they have a pretty old squad but they also have Tonton Zola Moukoko, who's always dangerous and can lead a team to glory.

I have played with different tactics during my period as manager, one of my own, some others on here but mostly 4-1-2-1-2 Iodine.
But for this season where I got rid of a lot of old players and started to play with youngsters instead, securing the future of the club I've started with this one:

http://imgur.com/oW8Tk8H

Really love the tactic, brilliant from scemoka on the forum. Love the way it looks and the results of course. The players seems to like it as well. So I will probably stick with it for the next seasons.

No Premier League gold yet, but I have collected some trophies:

http://imgur.com/Rqq6zHh

So I've collected some very important points, putting some pressure on my brother who is some seasons behind.

Some other interesting stats:

Biggest win: 8-2 v Kidderminster (Third division)
Biggest defeat: 2-6 v Crystal Palace (First division)
Top Goalscorer: Scott Booth 50 goals (2002/03-season)
Top League Goalscorer: Scott Booth 41 goals (2002/03-season)
Most assists: Jamie Victory 28 assists (2002/03 - season)
Highest Average Rating: Jon O'Connor 8.31 (2001/02 - season)
Most MoM: Scott Booth 14 MoM (2002/03 - season)
Most league apps for club: Jamie Victory - 308
Most league goals for club: Cherno Samba - 96

Some other interesting things:

Aston Villa is down in division 2, struggling with relegation
AFC Bournemouth have done a similar trip like in real life, gone from division 3 to becoming a top team in the Championship, would be fun to meet them in the Premier League!

Now 11 games into the season of 2010/11 the standings are:

http://imgur.com/GitfQBq

I've had a great start with a fairly new team, a lot of players out from last season. I've also qualified for the second group stage in Champions League, hopefully retaining my gold from last year. But we just have to wait and see! Man Utd is not far behind, and if they can keep up like they have done the last seasons they will end up around 80 points or higher. So every game counts!

Season 2 with AFC Wimbledon completed. It went surprisingly well.

Got in quite some new faces at the start of the season:
https://i.imgur.com/UIjN3BH.png

After a good start we had a really bad spell in september/october going into the lower regions of the league but then I decided to switch to a 4-3-3 to utilize our really good attack the best resulting in a very nice 4th place:
https://i.imgur.com/dae9GJD.png

So again into the playoffs, facing Norwich. Had a magnificent away game to start off:
https://i.imgur.com/Yquw3XR.png

But then in one game the whole season came crashing down:
https://i.imgur.com/PxA95JX.png

Gutted..

Maybe though it is best to stay on this level for another year. The money is already really good so that helps and I think that with the right amount of (defensive) reinforcements we can definitely mount a serious promotion challenge again next year.

After winning the Champions League in my 4th season with Southampton I wanted a challenge in my native league of Greece.
I took charge of Agrotikos Asteras. A small team from Evosmos, playing in National B Greek Division and with a stadium of 2.200 capacity. Latest update and Tapani patch.
First year we got promoted to A Division, easily. In summer, no one of the Greek top players wanted to join the team, as our reputation was too low. I searched for cheap players from small countries, and I built a team better than any other in the first Greek Division.
Only restriction I have in my game, is max-17 foreigners....like in the Premier League. The rest must be Greeks...
I just finished the second season and Agrotikos Asteras is the Greek Champion. Next year we will compete in the Champions League...this will be a challenge.
My starting eleven for Agrotikos Asteras this season, in which we came first in the Greek League:
GK- Brice Sampa (CON)
DL-Bright Esieme (NIG)
DR- Alberto Benito (ESP)
DC- Antony Chauvet (FRA)
DC- Eduardo Morante (ECU)
DMC - Grigoris Makos (only Greek in the first eleven)
MC - OJ Prorteria (Phillipino!)
MC- Ivan Sanchez (ESP)
MC- Jose Franscisco Cevallos (ECU)
ST- Rodolfo Zelaya (SAL)
ST- Maccaulley Chrisantus (NIG)

All good and cheap players...
Third season, we want to reach at least the quarter finals of the Champions League...;)

As a Tottenham fan I remember one of our most talented teams being the 2011-12 team in Harry Redknapp's last season as manager.

This team contained the excellent attacking trio of Bale, Modric, and van der Vaart, along with Ledley King and Scott Parker.

Having spent most of the season in third place behind the title chasing Manchester City and United, Tottenham wobbled towards the end and finished 4th. This meant Tottenham missed out on a Champions League spot as Chelsea (who finished 6th) went on to win the European Cup.

That team started to break up with Modric and van der Vaart leaving in the summer of 2012, along with the retirement of Ledley King.

I set myself a season long challenge. I wanted to better Redknapp's 4th place finish.

There were certain restrictions I placed on myself.

I used the Autumn 2011 Data Update
I made Emmanuel Adebayor a permanent sighning.
I signed Ryan Nelsen from Blackburn in January (as Redknapp did)
No other transfers
Default tactics
Default training methods

I started off playing 4-5-1 and had some decent results, but was quite a bit behind Man. Utd. Adebayor as the lone striker was on fire, averaging a goal a game during the first half of the seaon. Modric in midfield was averaging an assist per game. The problem was, van der Vaart wasn't really performing in the forward arrow midfield role, and Bale weren't doing much as the LM.

About halfway through I adopted the 5-3-2 formation, dropped Bale, Lennon and van der Vaart, brought in Kaboul mostly to play alongside King and Gallas in the back three. Huddlestone or Sandro partnered Modric and Parker in a flat midfield three (no arrows) and bought in Defoe to partner Adebayor up front.

This worked a treat. We've becoming incredibly strong defensively, and are still scoring goals. Adebayor's goals have dried up but now Modric is scoring a goal a game.

I've now finished game number 36. We are top scorers with 69 goals, have the second best defence having conceded just 16, and have just clinched the title! Adebayor is on 19 prem goals from 30 starts. Parker is the top tackler averaging 5.2 tackles per game, but the real star is Modric with 16 goals and 16 assists from 36 starts. All achieved using no forward arrows in his MC role. He is always set to playmaker btw.

Got knocked out of the League Cup in the Quarter Final by Man Utd, Wolves put us out of the FA Cup in the 5th round, and was very unfortunate to be knocked out of the UEFA Cup by Juventus at the semi final stage, on away goals after two Man of the Match performances by Buffon.

I've really enjoyed this short save. No wib wobbing, no tactics that I've created myself, no intense training regimes. No trawling through players to make loads of signings, just found a tactic that suited the players I have at my disposal.

Thank you for reading this.

So I came back to CM01-02 after a while of not playing. I play with Santos FC, where I created Robinho (basically copy-past Diego).
Very good first seson so far, I won the state championship, the cup, the cup of champions, and I'm 2nd in national championship. I won so far all I was in.
Robinho really disappointing, the others are good (Diego, Renato, Elano,... the good Santos generation of early 2000s). Not easy to get good players (clubs really don't want to sell to the same division, and it can be expensive).
Having fun so far, which is the most important since I tend to drift out of games I do (well, of everything I do).

EDIT
Aaaannddd... I lose the national championship on the second leg of the finals. I hate those leagues. Those leagues where you have a fake championship for 30 games, and in the end, it's the third of that fake championship that wins because he won ONE game after the championship is over. That's rewarding ONE game and not the consistency over 30.

So we've gone 356 serie A games without losing (that's 10 and a half seasons), and it's the final game of the season. Every game feels like an exam. We're playing Fiorentina away, they take the lead early but it's 1-1 at half time. Not much happens in the next half, we're creating most of the chances but we're not scoring. Then this..

Inspired by mcnamee19's Nottingham Forest story (http://champman0102.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9076) I decided to give myself the same challenge. The choice fell on Middlesbrough and the goal is to get a european trophy to Teesside.

Btw I'm playing April 2016 data on taipan 2.21.

The squad was rather suited for a 442, so I created a really offensive nww inspired by Psmith's 442 and the classic 442baz that I loved back in the dark ages.

http://i.imgur.com/h6nl8yP.png

Taking a closer look at the squad I found that I needed a reliable keeper. Only man for the task was veteran Juan Calatayud who was brought in from Kolkata for 170k. I kinda regret this now as this will probably be his last season and therefore having "wasted" one of my 4 start-out transfers.

Next we needed a target man to sit on top alongside Rhodes. The choice fell on Glenn Murray who wasn't a part of Eddie Howe's plans for the coming season. We got him for 1.6 and as he has hit the pitch running it seems to be a real bargain.

http://i.imgur.com/RhM1Hi6.png

Lastly we needed a captain, so I brought in personal favourite Lee Wallace from Rangers for 325k.

http://i.imgur.com/0FatoaD.png

For the first season I am obliged to use one youngster as a substitute for the majority of the games. Young Harry Chapman caught my eye and the lad has a phenomenal dribbling ability. I hope he will develop and go with me all the way as we try to conquer the world.

http://i.imgur.com/cE345AX.png

So far we are doing well and are undefeated for the first 6 matches so I am optimistic that we might get promoted the first time around. The big challenge will be to retain our best players. Sevilla and Levante are already sniffing around Daniel Ayala. I have given him a new 9 year contract and hope that will do the trick.

I've decided to go back where I always go back: playing with Marseille. With the original database (which means a team really not great, but it's good to go back to the early 2000s).

Bought Tymoschuk (D/DMC) and Ejiofor (CB) in first winow, followed during winter by Gustaf Anderson (ST) and Karagounis (CAM).
I wanted to play a 442 but I have no wingers. So I decided to go with a central 442. But I didn't have enough good central midfilder. So I ended up looking at what I had the most: CBs and STs, so I went for a 523.
Season went well, I finished 2d behind Lyon, with a good gap between me and 3rd. Went in semi-final of league cup, and got out of national cup at first round. My strikers Fernandao and Bakayoko surprised me, they scored very decently (34 combined).

For season 2, I brought in a few good players (Lassissi, Luca Toni, Maresca, Berson, Armand...) and I'm more thinking about a 41212, 433 or something like that.

After what must be well over five years, I've stumbled across this game once again. I signed back up to the forums a few years ago but never played the game. I was tidying my wardrobe room and came across a lot of old junk at the back, nestled amongst it being my external HDD. I plugged it in remembering all the old films and music I had stored but was knocked back after completely forgetting about this game. Sat there was a folder with all my old tactics, training schedules and the .iso to the game. After coming back to the forums and seeing all the great work by the update and patching teams, I thought it'd be rude not to give it a go.

Old habits landed me in the bottom tier of Italian football, taking over rock bottom L'Aquila in Lega Pro 2B just before Christmas 2016. With just 8 points from 16 games, it was a bit of an uphill task just to regain ground on 17th place. I'd decided I wanted to play the old Italian way of 3 at the back: a libero and two stoppers along with two wing-backs. The squad didn't really suit this formation, well they didn't really suit any if I'm honest, but I know most of them are being sent packing at the earliest opportunity so they can suck it up. Anyway, the first couple of games went really well and we quickly caught up the rest of the pack with some high-scoring (/high-conceding) wins. Things settled down at the back and the clean sheets soon started to roll in as we made a respectable mid-table finish in the end. Almost miraculously we were still in the Coppa Italia Lega Pro (aka Italian LDV Vans Trophy) and even more miraclously we won the bloody thing. Quite a few of the panic free transfer signings I made mid-season actually turned out to be rather rubbish so were promptly transfer-listed and my squad going into 2017/18 was the five or six decent guys I inherited plus a couple of cheap, young signings from (I assume) Serie D side plus the classic Italian method of exploiting the loan market to full effect. Often I've got just half a season out of a loan signing for him to be snapped up by a third party because he becomes unhappy and I can't afford a fee.

2017/18 was straightforward and most of the problems were created by ourselves; we spent much of the season bouncing between top and 6th only for the competition to absolutely capitulate down the stretch and hand us the title with not the greatest points total ever seen. The loan signings in particular proved the difference; I was lucky really, I use attribute masking so along with my low club reputation I didn't have the biggest pool of choice. The miracles in L'Aquila continued, though, as despite struggling to win convincingly in the league on a regular basis, we absolutely steamrolled everyone in the Coppa Italia Lega Pro, retaining the title against the higher ranked Siena in the final. Reading back I sound pretty miserable considering I won league and cup, but if you'd played along with me, you'd know what I mean.

The jump to Lega Pro 1B proved nothing but a baby step. The opposition were often just as bad and save for the top 4 teams and an inexplicable Christmas blip, it was a relative breeze. Again no money to speak of due to poor attendances, we made do with exclusively signing loan players. Twelve guys were borrowed and then promptly sold elsewhere at various stages of the season but I got my use out of them and a couple of pure lucky gambles in the free transfer market in the late season were enough to keep the squad a step ahead of much of the rest. Lecce and Lucchese were the main contenders and spent the season occupying the top two positions. The board pissed me off by becoming concerned with recent results after losing two in a row, so I promptly applied for the vacant Milan job. I didn't get it. Back to reality. I was content to compete through the playoffs but a series of draws from the top two brought me right back into it by April and we travelled to Lecce in game 32 of 34 probably needing a win as we sat two points back. Lucchese had themselves been beaten by Lecce the previous week and now sat a further three points back of ourselves. We won 3-2 with a last minute winner, bringing back memories of my teen years dancing around celebrating like it was something life-critical. The Mrs thinks I'm nuts, but fuck her. Game 33 was a home game to the dreadful Juve Stabia now managed by original data legend Matteo Brighi. An easy win for Lecce too meant I still required a win on the final day to secure the title and promotion. We only drew. Lecce lost. Ha, get in. Parma beat me on penalties in the final in an attempt to win an unprecedented third Coppa Italia Lega Pro on the trot but that's by the by. I can assign people squad numbers now. That's when you know you've made it.

The first Serie B campaign 2019/20 has just started with the Coppa Italia group stage and we got promptly dumped out of that one. Whoops. Signings needed. No money to speak of again though but at least we're filling the massive 4999 stadium now. Lots of loan bids in for Serie A hot prospects as I approach the September 1st deadline in DEFCON 1. They're interested though, so I should get the majority. Serves me right for trying to compete in Serie B with a Serie C2B-calibre squad. I'm loyal to the guys who've got me here though. My goalkeeper and striker are getting a bit out of their depth now, the bullet may have to be bit in those departments soon.

Onwards and upwards though.

TBC.

Lassissi and Toni are two great signings mate, I'm confident they'll take you to the title :ok:

I indeed won the title, in a somehow complicated season. Changed tactics frequently, had issues in the league to beat even bad team, I was like mid-table or a bit above for a long time. But in Europe, I was beating AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona,...
Finally toward the end of the season I won 15 consecutive games to win the league, the national cup, and to my huge surprise, reach the CL final (lost to Barcelona).
Toni was a good signing, Lassissi was inconsistent and a pain in the butt. Ejiofor was a roc in defense I had never heard of him before, not even in CM) and Maresca had a very good season too, like Karagounis.

AMC
17-01-17, 11:45 AM
Congrats mate, what's the plan now then, you staying with Marseille or going to move on? Hard luck with the CL Final but getting that far was a bonus in itself.

All the best in Serie B hodgy, loyalty to the players that got you this far is commendable but as you've seen for yourself quality at the end of the day is what gets results, so hopefully you can get some of them loan players in, and with you out of the Coppa Italia already you can concentrate on league business for the rest of the season.

The Serie B season 2019/0 was not looking promising early on. I had a threadbare squad with next to no money in the transfer kitty. Thanks to the mental loan system in Italy, I made about 10 loan bids, offering to pay no wages, for young Serie A talent. I ended up with six of them, three of which are absolute world beaters at this level: a libero, a box-to-box midfielder and a skillful forward. All of a sudden my tactics have hit home and I'm keeping clean sheets for the hell of it, 16 in 24 games and only 10 conceded. Games are often finishing 1-0 or 0-0. Three up in this league though and even though it's a long slog still (18 games to go), I'm pretty confident we can gain promotion. Everyone is beating each other up and that's allowed me to open a small cushion on 4th place for now.

The Juventus job came up in October when Allegri jumped to Man City, and as this was intended to be a long-term career save rather than a one-club save, I wanted that so bad. I thought my enhanced reputation gave me a good shot, but alas they went with Marcelo Gallardo who had been doing wonders at Sporting. Fair enough. What's happened in Serie B since though, I might have to see this through at L'Aquila. At least until I can establish them as a Serie A club.

My overriding thought from this comeback save is that I never thought myself as a great creator of tactics on this game so: I've either improved massively in that regard in my long hiatus, I've got massively lucky at times in this save or Italy is easy to play if you exploit the loan market for all it's worth.

So, I skipped the latest alphabet game because I didn't feel like changing clubs all the time (and a competitive game like that would get priority over other saves for me). Started on another project instead, which definitely is one where I'll stay at the club for a while. I've never taken a tiny club and won continental or worldwide fame with it, but I'd like to do that. I took over Caernarfon Town in the Welsh Premier League, and while that is a top division it's probably the poorest league in the game. The club also had insecure finances, and a tiny squad (including no goalkeepers). Seemed like a decent place to start for such a project. I also plan on playing non-wib-wob, and I've been tinkering a bit with 424 and 442 with a bunch of forward arrows as I want to play an attacking 4-4-2 formation but one that gives realistic results. I expect a lot of mediocre seasons, the goal for the first few seasons is a top half finish and if I'm lucky European qualification every now and then. I haven't set a time frame, but it wouldn't surprise me if 50 years pass and I still haven't won the champions cup.

Anyhooooo

First season done, and it went better than I had expected, mostly thanks to a very good cup run. Having no money and a small and weak squad, I scoured the market for scouts and then scoured it for halfways talented youngsters. 20 players came in for a total of £0, one player was sold for £100k. Wages far outweigh the income, so the finances are nice and red. A couple of board injections have helped a lot, but I don't expect them to be eternally patient.

League table:

https://s23.postimg.org/msql5jzwr/league.jpg

We didn't participate in the Premier Cup and the League Cup isn't worth talking about, but in the Welsh Cup we had a good run, amongst the teams we beat were T.N. Solutions who were beaten 4-1 at their ground. That was probably our best game of the season. We made it all the way to the final, and after a close game our fans roared of joy just seconds before the full time whistle.

Alas, Thompson was offside and Gierke's goal was ruled out. Looks like it was a great goal too.

The squad was terrible when I arrived, and while I have signed a lot of players and some of them are talented, I still think t's terrible. At least most of the players are young and I have pretty good coaches, and the board also agreed to upgrade the training facilities from "awful" to "in need of investment" during the season. Hopefully that and plenty of playing time will make them into decent or even good players in a few years. Here are some key players, all signed this season:

I might get bored and drop this after a while, but for now at least I am enjoying it.

P.S. I noticed I have Sebastian Battaglia above all the screenshots. I can't be bothered to fix that now. :p

I think I am in year 2222 now but for the last 2 or so decades i've had brilliant players/regens, but tactics are just soooo inconsistant! It is a good fight though when you are not winning all of the time, however my strikers are not getting over 40 goals a season, not like when i started out and had 146 in one season by Zlatan!

Maybe it's me!

A season and a half in, and things are moving in the right dircetion I think. I've signed more players than I need, but I'm planning on selling a bunch of them to get some money in. Tiny stadium and no prize money to speak of in Wales, so player sales is about the only way I can get money in.
Last year we were in a cup final, and somehow we managed to get in one this year too. Amongst the teams we beat on our way to the League Cup final were last year's second place finishing team Afan Lido whom we hammered 5-1 at home. The final was another of the games where the team really showed up and did an excellent job.

https://s29.postimg.org/rvmxzqd9j/League_Cup_Final.jpg

In the league it's not going that well, but a top half finish is definitely a possibility:

https://s29.postimg.org/x5rwr0xif/Half_season.jpg

Some of the signing's I've done are showing some promise, and good central defenders are rarer than good strikers so I think I'll try to keep this pair for a while at least:

https://s29.postimg.org/mlhz8ft0n/Oneillhalf.jpg
https://s29.postimg.org/pi508pyuf/Tobinhalf.jpg

I've started getting attention for some of my players, and I think there's a chance that the bank balance will be positive at the end of the season. I've made sure to get sell-on clauses in the transfer deals so hopefully these will bring in even more money in the future. Thompson, a forward, was my best rated player when I sold him but I have more strikers than I need that look like they can do a good enough job for now at least, so I was never in doubt whether to sell him.

Finished the 2002/3 season, and while we're not setting the world on fire yet things are moving in the right direction.

https://s29.postimg.org/jf8bzp5vb/table.jpg

Slightly better league performance than last year, and a cup win on top of that (see last post), so I think I can safely say that things are progressing.

The squad is also better than it was last year, though it is still poor. Many of the players are young, though, and will hopefully only become better as they play and get older. My best player this season was Stephen O'neill, a new signing this season who has also become my captain. I expect him to be a cornerstone of my team in the coming years unless someone buys him.

Long time reader of the forums, even the old Dugout forums, but thought I would post my current career progress. I have set myself the challenge to win every single league and cup in the game at least once (national, continental and International competitions). I started off in Argentina with Newell's Old Boys and romped to the Argentinian Second Division title with losing only one match. Then, for some reason due to me not needing to play in the Second Division playoffs, we went from December all the way through to August without playing a single match. The good form continued in to the second season by finishing 3rd in the Opening Stage of the Premier League season but then results severely dropped off. We were "languishing" in 8th place in the Closing Stage and unfortunately was given the boot.

It took a while to find another job, but Unnaryds GoIF in the Swedish Second Division job became available due to them getting promoted from a non-playable league and with no playing staff whatsoever. Thankfully due to no player restrictions in the league, I was able to bring in a lot of South American players I had scouted from my Newell days, as well as some decent Scandinavian talent and we romped the league losing two matches and won the subsequent play off matches. I know that it doesn't exactly count as a trophy but I have counted it as a league won anyway.

First season in the Swedish First Division was pretty tough, brought in a couple of new players to strength core areas and was pretty content with being a middle table team this season and push for the title in the next season but a run of good form has seen us climb up into the playoffs. Still awaiting to see who in the Allsvenskan I will play against in the promotion/relegation play off. Considering losing the playoff on purpose in order to push for the title and continue on my actual challenge of winning everything...

Just started a new save on the .68 original database as San Marino (club).

Made a brilliant start and somehow managed to keep it going, even with Fiorentina in the divison! Serie C2/B. Ended up finishing 3rd and managed to get promotion via the play-offs, buzzing.

Got a few quality players - Cristian Gasperoni and Raffaelle Moroni, who have both put in transfer requests wanting to leave bigger clubs. Have turned down bids of £1.4m for Gasperoni (worth 200k!) and £1m for Moroni. Desperate to keep hold of them as realistically they're my only hope of making it up the leagues.

Hard to sign players, but have sold quite a few which balanced the books. Really excited about this save!

Started with Boston Utd. in North. Premier which we won then followed the winning of Conference,Third division an the second division. we also won a Vans trophy and a Lower divisions FA cup.

Curently we are strugling a bit with our form after losing the first game we won 9 games in a row then followed some ups and downs :D

I'm following these rules:

- only UK & Ireland players
- the player must start his career at your club(eaither promoted from youth academy or a regen)
- players that started their careers at your club can be bought/returned back
- using only my tactics ''super tactics'' not allowed :D

Finished the 3rd season on my Caernarfon Town game, and after finishing 7th two seasons in a row this was to be our season, domestic league-wise anyways.

https://s17.postimg.org/ha1ysblcv/league.jpg

I didn't expect this after the past two seasons' mid-table finishes, but I've spent three seasons scouring the British Isles (and elsewhere) for talent that wants to play in Wales, and I think I've assembled a squad that for this league is very strong. I've been using mostly the same lineup too, only 14 players have played more than 20 games. Ther're mostly young too, and my coaches are pretty good even if the facilities are shit, so I expect they'll only get better the coming seasons.

In the two cups things weren't as easy as in the league, we lost in the quarter final in the League Cup and in the semi final in the Welsh Cup. The semi final against T.N. Solutions was a close game, going all the way to penalties where TNS beat us 4-3. The game for me, however, was most memorable because my centre halves showed how dominating it is possible to be in the air. Have a look at their heders vs the TNS attackers' headers:

https://s17.postimg.org/hbbwlqn6n/semiheaders.jpg
https://s17.postimg.org/oftpurufz/semiheaders2.jpg

I am impressed, and if I were John Toner or Jodie Jenkins I would probably make heading training a priority.

The best player of the season was forward Alan Carr, who has cemented a starting place up top alongside Leon Gierke, and this season he replaced the latter as top goalscorer.

https://s17.postimg.org/6yplzntnj/Carr.jpg In addition to those two I have 3-4 more attackers who could (probably) go straight into the starting 11 and do a good job, though only one of them, a Maltese/Yugoslav named Daniel Bogdanovic has played any games this season. He has been very good and if I hadn't had two even better attackers he'd be a starter for sure.

Here's the first team and the tactic overview:

https://s16.postimg.org/47pjjladh/tactic.jpg

The stadium is small, the training facilities awful and the finances aren't very good, but the 180k prize money from winning the league gave us a positive balance for now at least. I'll probably sell a few players over the summer (if anyone want to buy them, at least), and I am planning on selling players if anyone comes with offers even if they are key players, as long as I get a sell-on clause. That's pretty much the only way I can get in any money at the moment, unless I manage to get far in the European Cup which we will be participating in for the first time next season. The goal is the 2nd qualification stage, but of course I dream of getting to the third and being guaranteed at least an UEFA Cup slot. Winning the Champions League, however, the ultimate goal of this save, is probably still decades away.

Decided to fire up a Man United game from scratch a few days ago. I'm not a Man U game but find them generally quite enjoyable to play with as they seem to be easy to win with! I won the league with 108 points which I think is the best I've ever done on any CM01/02 game

I didn't play any un-ordinary tactics, just 4-4-1-1 attacking, short, normal tackling and yes pressing and no for everything else. No set piece takers or play makers and WIBWOB set to default / Left untouched.

I finished the league season with P38 W35 D3 L0 F93 20

Pretty happy with that, haven't done that well before!

My only signings were Leo Franco (who played about 3 games) and Alessandro Nesta (Who started every league game bar the 7 that he was suspended for, missed a fair bit of the two games he got sent off in as well)

Barthez, Ruud Van Nistlerooy & Roy Keane also missed 3-4 months of the season with injury, so I had to play Carroll, Ole Gunnar, Nicky Butt and Andy Cole for large parts of the season as well.

Has anyone managed to do better then me with the Man U team, without using WIBWOB? would be interested to hear :)

Pegster, me and my friends played a Welsh Challenge a little while back, Win the Champions League with a Welsh Team using only default tactics, no WIBWOB and no rolling contact signings for plays out of contact (You could do a rolling contact for say a youth player, but just not for someone like Tony Adams when he's out of contract)

Best any of us did was 2nd group phase.

I've somehow managed to get to the group stage after beating Helsingborg, Slavia Praha and a Slovenian team I think it was in the first qualification round, but Milan, PSV and Benfica are proving to be about as much better as one would expect. 0 points and one goal scored in the first 4 games :p
Cup and European Cup games are also taking their toll on the squad and the league form so far this year (october now iirc, not in that save at the moment) is as it was the first two season, i.e. mid-table.

I'm not using default tactics, but I've only tinkered with team and player settings, not the wibwob screens.

Brilliant Pegstar. I think I won the league two out of 4 seasons with my Rhyl team (Think the other two seasons were 3rd and bottom!)

Sadly I ended up with teams who were far to superior in the knock out rounds, yet who also had small stadiums so I didn't get any revenue from the defeats.

I Was in the Uefa cup 3 times as well I think.... and lost in the 1st round every time!

So yesterday I decided to start a new game on the original database with Doncaster. The only thing I edited pre-game was to make all nations EU so that I didn't have to deal with the old work permits, not that Doncaster can sign any decent foreign players anyway what with being in the Conference!

I don't use any fancy tactics or anything, just a default 442 tactic which seems to have worked because it's Doncaster and you're generally going to do okay. I also chose to have nine other countries included though as it widens the amount of players on the game and hopefully makes Europe more entertaining...

So, speaking of Europe and other countries, here's a breakdown:

UEFA Cup Final - Milan 1-0 Inter (a.e.t)
Champions Cup Final - Barcelona 1-2 Dortmund (a.e.t)
English Premier Division - Arsenal
French First Division - Paris-SG
German First Division - Dortmund
Greek National A Division - PAO
Dutch Premier Division - PSV
Italian Serie A - Milan
Portuguese Premier League - Sporting
Scottish Premier Division - Celtic
Spanish First Division - Real Madrid
Turkish Premier Division - Galatasaray

Onto my own personal season though... I signed five players on a free transfer because I don't have the luxury of spending money. I sold two people, one from reserves for £7k (Tim Ryan) and Jamie Paterson for £120k (he might start as a star player, but I signed a replacement on free transfer so he wasn't needed anyway).

I started the season being 30 games unbeaten in all competitions which was pretty decent, until I got knocked out of the FA Trophy by Dag & Red in a replay. Never mind... I had an okay FA Cup Run though:

1st Round: York 1-2 Doncaster
2nd Round: Wigan 0-3 Doncaster
3rd Round: Doncaster 2-1 Millwall
4th Round: Aston Villa 5-0 Doncaster

Premiership team just proved too much for little old Doncaster in the end, but a Conference team in the 4th Round is still pretty good. The league, however, was better for me albeit I did end up losing a few games. Final table:

http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae252/Chrisssss_GH/Champ%20Man%2001-02/Doncaster%20-%20Season%201_zpswsl90l1r.png

Justin Jackson ended up being my top goalscorer with 50 goals in 48 games... he was top scorer in the Conference by 21 goals!

First season ended up quite good though. I think reaching the Playoffs in the Third Division would be a good enough achievement for me in the second season. Only took me two separate sessions to complete the season though which is good going for me. Let's see if I can keep this game going!

Club - Reggina

Season - 2016/17

Board Expectations - The Board want me to have a respectable league spot. I was a bit unsure as I didnt see much better thanus

Finance- £347,000 in the red and bugger all to spend

Stadium - Oreste Granillo is a decent home we have 27,453 who can come along. We have facilities who need some investment

Lega Pro 2C - If I am honest this was a little easy for us. We started on fire. With a 4-0 and 5-0 win. I can honestly say that this was the first season I have ever had where we go top on Week 1 and did not move all year long. In the end we on the league by a huge 19 points and only lost twice and drew three times. Yes we dominated the league

Coppa Italia Lega Pro - Once again we were in superb form. We won all of the games in the league stage. At no stage throughout the hole tournament did we ever look in danger. We took this title as well with a 4-2 win over two legs in the final.

Player of the Year - Didier Drogba came in at the start of the season as player assistant manager and was a revelation. He is far too good for this level. If I am honest I think his goals were the reason we performed so well. When he was injured and out of the team we did not look the same dominating team and did not record nearly as many points.

Next Year - Next year all I want to do is keep Drogba playing. I suspect we may get one maybe two more years out of him. I am fairly confident going into next year as we beat a lot of teams above in the cup so I think we can continue in that way

I am playing my fifth season with Fulham. We got promoted winning the playoffs our first season and since that we have been a regular upper half feature in the EPL. We haven't won anything as of yet but this season bring promise. We qualified for the UEFA via the toto cup (the real way to win the cup!) and are sharing the top spot in the league with Chelsea.

The side assembled for this years campaign could very well go on to be the stuff of legends with formidable striker partnership of Gabriel Jesus and Vinicius Junior (both in free role) and young Hagi Jr behind them.

I am having a hard time getting the centerbacks to perform constantly but as long as we outscore the oppositions we should be fine. My biggest worry is that Laimer on the right wing wants to go back to Austria seeing that we don't have adequate replacement and piggybank is empty.

Club - Reggina

Season - 2017/18

Board Expectations - The Board want me to have a respectable league spot. I really fancied my chances in this league on the basis of last years cup run.

Finance- £233,160 in the red and bugger all to spend

Stadium - Oreste Granillo is a decent home we have 27,453 who can come along. We have facilities who need some investment

Lega Pro 2C - Very much carried on from last year. We started on fire and continued with wins all the way through the year. We only drew 6 games and won the rest of the games. We never really looked in any danger at all. We eventually won the league by a massive 27 points.

Coppa Italia Lega Pro - We did really well this year again. We did not play quite as fluid as we did the year before as we suffered scares in both the quarter final and semis. Eventually we did come through and secured a final spot. The final was a repeat of last years as we battled Cremonese. We lost the first leg 2-0 and won the second leg 1-0. It was not enough as we lost.

Player of the Year - Didier Drogba a decent year. He did not quite reach the brilliant levels of last year but he was still very good. He scored a fair few goals which once again propelled us to the title. I would say he was a little bit injury happy this year but when I look back he still played a really good number of games.

Next Year - I am loosing five of my first team in the off season through retirement. Including Drogba, I am gutted to be loosing him and the rest of the players. I have no money to spend really so I am going to have to try and work free transfers to get anywhere with this team next year

Season - 2017/18

Board Expectations - The Board want me to battle to stay in the league. I thought that was about as much as we could expect as well

Finance- £347,968 in the red and bugger all to spend

Stadium - Oreste Granillo is a decent home we have 27,453 who can come along. We have facilities who need some investment

Serie B - 17th - We started off well enough as we found ourselves 7th after 20 games. We then rocketed down the table as we could not string together any form. This was because of injuries and suspensions this seriously effected our form and we found ourselves in a relegation battle. In the end our early season form was enough to keep us in Serie B.

Coppa Italia - We got through the group stage against three other teams who are in Serie B so I was pleased with that. We lost in the next round against a Serie A team in Novara they won on penalties.

Player of the Year - Luis Sampedro joined us in the summer as I needed to improve upfront with the retirement of two strikers from last year. He scored a fair amount of goals and fitted in well enough.

Next Year - I am loosing so much cash every year at this club and I am not sure how much further I can take the club with no budget to buy any new players. I have a tiny squad and with injuries and suspension I have a tough time keeping any form going.

Just first season. I choosed this team because of history. Its a big city and big club and not so easy to take glory comeback, so half to half :). I managed them long time ago and tried again. Playing whit tactic i've posted in tactic's section. Most important screenshots :

Going up in style with a 100 points. :D Changed tactics after being 6th because my lower division tactic didnt seem to get me to get Premier League. Switched formation to a 4-1-2-2-1 with attacking fullbacks and wingers and it really paid off. The club is also Premier league worthy by now. We've got a 17.000 seater stadium, facilities will be improved and financially it's going great as well. I have more than 30 million already. My key players are Andre Horta and Grejohn Kyei(Yeah, who?), both scoring lots goals(25 and 29).
Really enjoying this game and i'm curious to see how we'll do in the Premier League. The Championship was of a very high level while i was in there. Especially in the first year it contained so many quality Premier League-level players that i was like ''how am i ever going to get to the premier league''.

In my career game got Newport promoted into the Premier League, but left to manage relegated Bradford in Second Division.

Won the Second Division with them and now in play-offs in First Division. :)

I've won in first season after promotion, a premier league title. Used 451 Leeds i've uploaded. Now trying to make my own 442 for this year. For my luck board just wish respectable position, not a glory after what happens. Everything of saturn patch, great fun.

I've been enjoying a save with Torino recently.

Adopting a 3-2-4-1 formation, my aim was to develop a young side built around Andrea Belotti. The 2016/17 season got off to a flyer and we hit the New Year top of the table. However, the big guns were drastically underperforming and we weren't exactly showing true champion form ourselves. Chelsea then came calling for captain Marco Benassi - he wanted to go so we settled for a fee of £21m and immediately invested in young replacements and reinforcements. A downgrade for now, but hopefully an upgrade down the line. Expectedly the form dropped away, although Daniele Baselli and Belotti made Team of the Year, and we finished 4th with 69 points as Fiorentina pipped Inter to the title in a playoff after they both finished on a rather mediocre 71 points, surely a record low total for 1st in a 38 game season?

The 2017/18 was characterised by a Juve romp. Max Allegri moved onto Arsenal and was replaced by Brendan Rodgers and the magician that he is engineered a 91 point haul that captured the title with a month to spare. On the other side of Turin, we started very poorly and were languishing around 9-12th for much of the season, in line with the board's expectations. Saying that, we did choose to prioritise Europa League success and only after bowing out in the semi-finals did we really start to concentrate on the league for the last few games, taking advantage of a tight pack to march through to 5th on a total of 65 points (three teams finished on 64), securing European football again.

I had mixed expectations and goals for season three. Other than Franck Kessié coming in on a Bosman from Atalanta, I'd not added to the first team squad. Money wasn't an issue, but never a luxury considering an average crowd of around 20000. I wanted to put faith in the young squad I'd assembled, hoping that the likes of Kenny Tete, Arne Meier, Nikola Vlasic and Salih Ozcan could kick on and help us not rely too heavily on the main core of Joe Hart, Baselli and Belotti. We started the season well both domestically and in Europe but as jittery form and fatigue started to kick in, I knew I had to concentrate my young squad on just one competition. Champions League was the next step for this team and as we were still in 2nd in the league, I sacrificed a Europa League last 16 tie in the hopes of securing a top three finish in Serie A. However, we struggled in the final few months to beat the bottom sides and stumbled at the final hurdle, finishing 4th once again on 69 points. Three years at Torino and in reality, zero improvement in standing. We also had an absolutely horrendous record of D1L5 against arch rivals Juventus which didn't help me.

Nevertheless the board were still delighted with me despite me wondering if I was better off elsewhere. I'd kind of foreseen this poor league finish a few months in advance and stacked up the signings ready for 2019/20. Still no big money being spent, but two or three players who would be regular starters plus another couple who would provide squad depth or could be sold on easy enough.

I felt quite energised going into this season but decided it was shit or bust. Either I make it into the Champions League or I move aside and let someone else have a crack. I now had a solid first-team squad of 25 who I could rely on, which suited my rotation policy. However, as we got off to an absolute flyer in Serie A, some of my more high profile signings were becoming mere bench warmers. I let that not stop me and true to my honour, let Arlind Ajeti (£6.75m), Lyanco (£16.5m!), Daniel Wein (£8.75m) and Adem Ljajic (£11.25m) depart in January. There was now a war chest at my disposable but the lads were performing so well that I saved the cash and promoted from within to fill the voids, although I had such a luxury in central defence, I only required one or two youngsters. We kept marching on, Belotti having a career season (although still being pipped to top scorer) and Armando Obispo and Meier stepping up admirably as we secured the league title with three games left. Nemesis Napoli dumped us out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage once more which was a bit disappointing but sod that, we'd taken the first title since 1976!

As we head into season five, we've really got a terrific young squad, other than Joe Hart all being under 28. I'm not expecting another title but I've now got in excess of £50m to spend on reinforcements as we take a step into the unknown in Europe. This could be a career defining year for me. If we again challenge for the title and/or make a fist of it in the Champions League then it could be the start of a legacy. If we peter out then I'll step down and seek a new challenge.

Started a fresh game with Lyon. I enjoy games where I manage a decent side, but not a truly dominant one - and I don't WIB/WOB.

Started the season and immediately looked to strengthen my starting 11. I simply did not have enough money for more then a couple of signings.

I immediately went to Anderlecht and gave them £19m for Leander Dendoncker, before turning to Chelsea and giving them £11m for Kurt Zouma. That was all I had the money for.

Lopes, Zouma, Mammana, Morel, Rafael, Dendoncker, Depay, Tolisso, Valbuena, Fekir, Lacazette in a 4-1-3-1-1 formation was my starting 11.

Surprisingly, Monaco began to fall away quickly, behind PSG, Lyon and Marseille. My Lyon side and PSG were battling well in the league, with them usually a couple of points ahead. By the end of the season, my side finished with 90-points – unfortunately, PSG finished with 96-points. A cracking effort, and no shame in losing out to that PSG side.
However, Europe was where we really stood out.

We progressed through both group stages to meet Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the CL. We lost 1-0 in the first leg which was away. In the return leg we beat them 3-1, it was a great result.

We met Barcelona in the semi-final. We met them in the first group phase. The first meeting we lost 2-0 at the Nou Camp. We beat them 2-1 back in France. Those results gave us hope. We won 2-0 in the first leg at home, and followed it up with a fantastic 2-1 away win in the second leg to set up a final with Bayern.

I wasn’t hopeful for the final, but getting there was in itself a huge achievement. My side played to perfection in that final, Zouma scoring once and Lacazette bagging a brace, getting his 55th and 56th goals of the season, to romp to a 3-0 win and winning club football’s biggest competition.

I now look forward to a busy summer where I try to build on my current team to get ahead of PSG, and to try to claim another unlikely Champions League trophy.
