View Full Version : CF's Unofficial Personal Challenge

Craig Forrest
07-11-13, 05:25 AM
So I like really long challenges..... my favourites have been Roman General and Nationals Only... and they inspired me to try my hand at the longest "challenge" possible

I want to win every trophy in the game.

I have no patience with story telling (as some of you know) and I thought that since it will definitely be a challenge to win everything, why not put this in the challenges section. I'm not claiming points, I'm not posting rules, I'm not going to include this on the King of the Mountain stuff.... I just want to do it.

I made a checklist of everything I need to win:

Checklist: https://www.sendspace.com/file/lbga3t

http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo90/craigforrest/Everythingchecklist.png

And I'll be posting up screenies here to keep track of my progress.

Cheers,

CF

So first up is Argentina. I started as Independiente in Division 2.

I won Division 2

http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo90/craigforrest/Everything-Arg2.png

and then I won both the Opening and Closing stages of the Argentine Premier Division

http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo90/craigforrest/Everything-Arg1Open.png

http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo90/craigforrest/Everything-Arg1Close.png

I also won the Copa Mercosur

http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo90/craigforrest/Everything-CopaMercosur.png

I haven't moved out of Argentina yet as I'm waiting to see if my team will be playing in the Copa Libertadores which starts in February..... if not, I'll move on.... if yes then I'll do my best to win it first before I move.

No issues yet.... I'll start in the lower leagues if I have to.... I did adjust my CA/PA at the beginning of the game but I'm a Canadian in game and have no second nationality :ok:

No, you didn't miss the spreadsheet.... I'm just a lazy bastard and haven't uploaded it yet :D

and Eejit..... the Brazilian lower leagues have a champion for all of them... the Swedish lower leagues just feed into a promotion playoff..... the top teams don't actually win anything (as far as I could tell anyway... if I'm proven wrong when I get to Sweden I'll amend the spreadsheet)

and I'm trying to finish off Roman General (half a season) and Yes, Kaiser (halfway done) so I can focus on this one :ok:

How's this going, CF? Is this the save you were talking about in the patches thread? Academica, Porto...

Craig Forrest
13-07-14, 06:51 PM
it is... in fact i just started playing it again after i finished my Mexican league patch... going ti update this thread soon... won the Portuguese second, premier league, cup and super cup all with porto... in the CL now and will see how that gives :ok:

I got the initial error screen which you can click past, but I fear the game would collapse at some point.

Craig Forrest
14-07-14, 06:42 AM
It very well might but that's a risk I'll take... if it happens, it happens.... this is something I'm just doing for fun so I'll restart from where I died if the worst should ever happen :ok:

Craig Forrest

17-07-14, 10:24 AM
Thanks.
Are you absolutely sure CA rises in time, i.e. when you win something?

Craig Forrest
17-07-14, 01:59 PM
Nope.... not sure at all..... it's quite possible that I set it at 155 but I have no idea...... I started this back in November or something..... I can barely remember what I did last week :D

Sordalen
07-08-14, 04:30 PM
Finally got some time on my hands again. This looks great fun, so I started it(without any success). Playing ODB. Started without a job and my trusted 4-3-1-2(4-3-2-1) tactics. We'll see how much of this i'll manage to complete.

churky
08-08-14, 11:30 PM
I've played 3 seasons of this and it's frustrating because;
A) only newly promoted clubs to the lowest tier with no players will even consider hiring me, even though I changed my CA/PA
B) processing time is killing me  I'm used to lightning fast processing with the usual 5-6 loaded leagues. I can't imagine what it would be like in season 50.

Kudos to sticking with this, CF.

Craig Forrest
09-08-14, 01:55 AM
it's a drag sometimes..... France pissed me off and i hated Finland.... and I'm avoiding Croatia for as long as I can ;)

Craig Forrest
09-08-14, 01:57 AM
oh and I'm not sticking with the first team that hires me..... if a shit Portuguese team offers me a job and then i can get the Porto job I'll jump at the chance (and i did actually)

06-09-14, 02:53 PM
Good stuff CF, I'm sure Cam mentioned CA for managers doesn't increase/decrease on 01/02 but does on 00/01, and that's one of the reasons Cam prefers 00/01.

Probably best changing your CA/PA to 200/200 Churky and using a saved game editor to change ya nationality to that of the league you want to manage in each time.

HF2004
07-09-14, 03:59 PM
Insane challenge, good luck with it. I'm not really trying it but I'm playing a save where I like to change teams alot and take as many prices as possible in the meanwhile. After 10 seasons I've won:

-1x Intercontinental Cup
-2x European Champions Cup
-1x European Super Cup

-1x Argentine Premier Division Closing Stage

-1x Belgian First Division

-1x Brazilian National First Division
-1x Brazilian Rio de Janeiro State Championship

-2x English Premier Division
-1x English League Cup
-1x English Charity Shield

-1x French First Division
-1x French Champions Trophy

-2x Greek National A Division
-1x Greek Super Cup

-1x Russian First Division

-1x Spanish First Division

Meaning 19 prizes so far, not bad but not even near what you're trying to achieve. I'm currently at my 12th club, but I have yet to land my first international job (for some reason nobody wants me)

I've set CA/PA to 200/200 and gave myself a Belgian second Nationality to become English/Belgian, however I only used to savegame editor once and won't change this during the game. I only have 26 leagues (south korea isn't in the original game) loaded and updates are already going really slow. And offcourse some competitions just stop due to bugs in the updates (I think the Confederations Cup already did and in a former save game off mine the whole argentine competitions did). So I'm afraid your challenge is mission impossible, but good luck anyway

I still don't get it how you get jobs all around the world. :/

Once I'm done in a country (or once I get tired of a country) I either resign and start applying everywhere, or I apply everywhere while I'm still employed..... 95% of the time my application is ignored (especially by top clubs) but I can usually land a job in the division below the top.... or at a big team that got relegated and fired their manager..... and even if I can only get a job at a shit team, once you're in a country your reputation arrives as well.... so there have been a few instances where I take a job at some shit team with no squad and staff, and then immediately apply for jobs at better clubs within the same country.

Like I said before, I've played a ton of the long challenges and never had too many issues.... granted I won't jump from HB Koge in the Danish Prem to Manchester United or Barcelona..... but it's very possible I could land at Huddersfield or Sporting Gijon and then move up :ok:

The link for the checklist in the OP doesn't work.

This is a super challenge, it would take me ages to win everything, but I'm looking for a challenge and maybe I'll just start a save unemployed with every possible league loaded and see what I can accomplish. Maybe with some fog of war and LLM rules as well.

Did you select every country or left some running in the background? And I see that you changed your CA and PA to about 155 and 190. Maybe I'll do the same, thanks for the tip.

Elgin_McQueen
12-06-15, 01:32 PM
Re: Getting jobs in other countries. Do I not remember it being mentioned before that no matter how well you do in one country, your reputation will increase in ONLY that country, but if you get a job in another country your reputation will come across with you? Meaning that to move country you'd have to typically move to a lower team, then start applying for better teams as now you'd have a good reputation there. Would presume however that doing well as an international manager might increase reputation everywhere.

Fods
13-06-15, 06:02 AM
It all depends on the PA and CA you are given at game start, its not frowned upon to increase this to 160+. Also, its usefull to add your nationality to that of the country you want to manage in.

Well so far I've won the Swedish Sveland League with Vallentuna before jumping-ship to Berwick Rangers where I won the Scottish Div.

Emigrated to Portugal where I stayed for a couple of months before returning to the bright lights of Bury where I managed to get them promoted from Division 3, joined them too late too mount a title challenge which was unfortunate. I even considered playing my weaker players in order not to get promoted but hey-Ho. Hopefully I can win Div 2 and then at a later date go back to Div 3 with someone else.

CA PA 200? How can you verify your double nationality when playing?

Craig Forrest
01-11-16, 02:37 PM
I don't think I set my CA/PA that high..... open up the Graeme Kelly save game editor..... that's how you can check

Ok, so CA/PA at? I changed my CA for 200, is it too much?

Ok, begining this very original challenge, CA 170, nationalities english-italian, with FC Barcelona (Buffon, Zabaleta, Chiellini, Boateng, David Silva, De Bruyne are my new players).

I've got a problem with my save, it crashes on 20th of june... No way!!! 3.9.68Tapani 2.21 patch. A solution? (French-Third...cpp 469)

Craig Forrest

No clue.... I never use Tapani..... I only took the original game with an updated DB for this..... no changes, no patches.... all I did was edit the code to be able to get jobs in other countries.... I didn't want to take any risks to make the game unstable :ok:

So, 7 trophees in 18 months with FC Barcelona (Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de Espana, Champions League, Intercontinental Cup, World Championship, European Supercup), I'm english and italian nationalities, CA 170. Going to Greece at Panathinaikos in december of the year 2. 9th at 6 points only of the title. Let's see if an half-season is sufficient to do something...More than 4% of the Challenge done!!!

The big titles with the big clubs are the easy part.... it's slogging through Italian lower leagues, English lower leagues, MLS, Croatia, etc.... that takes time :)

Are you going to try the "Welsh Slam ?"

In theory, with Cardiff or Swansea or Wrexham you could win

Charity Shied
European Super Cup
Intercontinental Cup
World Club Championships
English League Cup
FA Cup
Welsh Premier Cup
Premier League
Champion's League

All in one season !

Hi Craig, i know this is a pretty old challenge. But do you still have the spreadsheet available? Had one ages ago, but lost it in a laptop swap  Fancied starting it again, but the link on the start of this thread for the spreadsheet seems to have expired. No worries if it's not available.

No! I was super surprised.... I load the save file and it immediately starts doing the mid-July end of season update.... I can't click on anything... it's as if it auto-saved right when it started the updating.... so I can't do anything.... I load, it starts updating, then crashes

Can you tell me how you did this, or upload the respective files? On my second try I was thinking of using Tapani 2.21 precisely because of that code change, though I prefer the ODB, besides being more stable, I guess.

Craig Forrest
05-01-18, 04:37 AM
Ok.... so we begin again. I figured this time I would start at a big European club and get a top league plus CL, etc... out of the way early so the new challenge began in Madrid :ok:

First off was the European Super Cup vs Manchester United

https://i.imgur.com/hjWsT5D.png

Then the Spanish Super Cup vs Barcelona

https://i.imgur.com/FB7zeSm.png

Following that was the Intercontinental Cup vs Argentina's San Lorenzo

https://i.imgur.com/inGzzkS.png

I killed everyone in the Spanish League.... my only blemish was a 3-2 away loss at Barcelona when I was missing 5 starters due to injuy and suspension..... so much for the perfect season (as an aside, my second year in Madrid was nowhere near as dominant, but I still won the league by 2 points over those damned Catalans.... and the year I left, RM finished in 3rd with 77 points while Barca won it with 104 )

https://i.imgur.com/6ZlBlAR.png

I won the Champion's League in a rematch over Juventus

https://i.imgur.com/6p3RRpn.png

The Spanish Cup over surprise finalists, Division 2's Albacete who had knocked off Barcelona in the Semis

https://i.imgur.com/FW4MicR.png

And then to end my time with the Spanish giants, I defeat my Spanish arch-rivals once again to claim the Club World Cup

https://i.imgur.com/kUKvWF8.png

After that, the first job opening (that I felt like taking) was with the fill-in team Sutherland Sharks in the Australian NSL.... it was a difficult first half of the year, but a couple of key loan signings righted the ship and we managed to win the League

https://i.imgur.com/6uKezOf.png

Sadly, it appears as though the Oceania CL never drew a finalist in last year's competition so I won't be able to win that one.... so I've recently moved on to Clermont in the French second division :ok:

What do you mean by adjusting CA/PA in the beginning of a game ?

Craig Forrest
08-01-18, 07:30 PM
I mean I opened a save game editor, loaded my save file, found my manager, and increased his CA/PA
