Introduction: World Soccer Manager

'Soccer Manager' is a competition which has been in place at www.champman0102.co.uk (http://www.champman0102.co.uk) for many years. The latest game world that we participate in has been our 3rd incarnation of the competition which has now been made open for all to join.

For those who are unaware, Soccer Manager is an online football management game which you play through www.soccermanager.com (http://www.soccermanager.com). On this website, it is possible to create your own "gameworld" made up of teams in divisions where you go through the usual management of a football team such as picking tactics and the buying and selling of players.

We have created our own custom gameworld called 'CM 01/02 - World Soccer Manager' which has a five-tier league system in which three teams are promoted and relegated each season. There are 20 teams in each league so there are 100 teams for you to choose from. There is a unique feel to these leagues because the teams have been selected from each of the top 100 nations in the FIFA rankings. We have then selected a team for that nation who has the highest tally at clubworldrankings.com.

League games are played every Thursday and Sunday. If you are participating in cup competitions, you'll find that these games will take place on a Tuesday. We encourage you to be active and involved in our Soccer Manager league by posting your results in our division threads and any news in the relevant thread in this forum. Keep things interesting!

Be warned! To make things different and far more challenging, there are a few rules in place:

1) You must not have any more than 25 players in your squad. That includes youth players and players out on loan. We will be keeping an eye on squad limits and expect you to stick to it!

To join, you will need to create an account at www.soccermanager.com (http://www.soccermanager.com). Once you have done so and are logged in:

1) Click on the "Clubs" tab on the navigation bar near the top of the page.
2) You'll then need to click "Add Club".
3) On the far right of the navigation bar, click "Club Search".
4) Type in the following into the "Game World ID Number Search" field: 327097.
5) You should then see "CM 01/02 - Soccer Manager" appear. Click on this.
6) A window will then open where you can see detailed information about the game world and the teams who are available to manage. Click on the club you wish to take over.
7) Once you have done the above, I will then need to accept your application so make sure you let me know you have done so in this thread so I know who you are and to accept it.
8) I'll confirm that your application has been accepted in response to your post in this thread and will update the list below.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU POST IN THIS THREAD IF YOU HAVE MADE AN APPLICATION AND LET ME KNOW WHICH CLUB YOU HAVE APPLIED FOR.

The slow pace of the game can be annoying to some people, I personally like it but these days people are used to getting everything now and not having to wait.

The satisfaction of building your team up over time is hard to beat.

Well to be honest if I knew how boring this game was, I didn't sign up either. Basically you buy players. Select 'best formation' and that's it. This game lacks action. Players only get better if the SM-crew wants them too. There is no transfer money for a long time. I am absolutely unsure what else there is to do..

You're expecting too much from it.

When I found SM it was through guys in work, we had about 30-40 players in our game. It was about bragging rights and the fun was also negotiating trades with other real life people, that part will come after August for us because of how we chose to start the game.

Players get better based on their real life performance and the soccer wiki, anyone can suggest a player rating change and show evidence of why this should happen. I've never bothered but the option is there.

The best tactic as far as I can tell in the transfer market is to buy players you know will become famous. (Rabiot from PSG, Koman from Juve/Bayern)

But yeah, it's basically a phone app, not a fully fledged champman game. The fun is more your interaction with real life people rather than the game itself.
