First round of the Cup and Vancouver rest their starting XI for the match against unmanaged Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle

A hat trick from 17 year-old Argentine striker Maximiliano Romero and a goal from captain-for-the-day, 35 year-old Colombian defender Jámison Olave saw the Whitecaps advance to round 2 with an easy 4-0 victory.

Ludogorets Razgrad 0 - 0 FC Midtjylland
Ludogorets win 5-4 on penalties

2nd string team for me as the first team weren't back to full fitness yet after Sunday. Pretty dull match all round.

Not sure if I want to keep progressing in this because of the squad limit, but it was a profitable game, back in the black now after what i'm guessing was a full house at the Ludogorets Arena.

(3,800)

Maybe if that cash keeps rolling in I could fill out the squad, still only at 21 players, I definitely need another RB, gonna try and hoke one out now.

Today we went up against Man City managed by Andy Sharman

All i can say is we totally dominated the match. Looks like my boys have important matches at 20,

Elhamed (1), Mackay (20), as we take early control. Adjei Boateng (36) pulled one back for City. Acosta (41). Sobrino (53,66) then Lafata (83) completed the rout.

61% possession, 5 goals and starting to gain Money! that will do nicely for the team going forward BUZZING

FC Kallon lost to FC Koper 4 - 2 on penalties after a 1 - 1 draw in their CM 01/02 World Soccer Manager Cup Round 1 fixture.
Faupala was on the scoresheet for his side.

Absolutely gutted as well. We took on a Div.3 side, FC Koper, managed by petec68. After a quiet first half in which the dirty Kopers got booked twice, David Faupala gave us a deserved lead after the break before one of the booked Koper players were sent off for an elbow. We should have taken advantage of that but after changes made by the manager, Koper got themselves back into it with a late equaliser to force the game to penalties. Faupala and Celina both missed their spot-kicks and we are out!

As a positive, we tried a different formation and it looked promising so hopefully we will compete much better with first team players back in the frame on Thursday.

Township Rollers cruised against an unmanaged (COM) Tigres UANL to a 3-0 victory. A second string team proved they are no push overs and have made life hard for the manager as team selection gets tricky.

Kovacic the young wonderkid CAM, Gavanon the veteran CDM and Mineiro who's performance's earlier in the season had been subpar at DR - all bagged goals. Unfortunately Kovacic suffered a 2/3week injury and second striker Helder Positga will also miss a week due to injuries picked up in the game. I blame this on the lack of a pre-season - but alas, c'est la vie.

The 'Rollers now look onto the second round of the CM 01/02 CUP vs a familiar face of same league, Division 5, Mladost Podgorica - the luck of the draws have been kind to the 'Rollers as we will play for the second time in the CUP at home infront of the Botswana faithful.

At my time here in Botswana I have learned a little Setswana, the second language after English here. Masego ke ao I say to my team. Or in English - Good Luck.

wait, wait, wait..... London35 is the guy breaking the rules by having way over the 25 player squad limit? 37 players in the squad? Not cool.... :tsk:

Only 9 players listed.

Even if every one of those gets sold by next week, there will still be 28 players.
32 players been used in the campaign so far.
I had mentioned the idea of nominating a 25 man squad in one of the threads here and sticking to it.

Not fair on the rest of us otherwise and clearly benefitting from it if the QF of the cup is next and in the playoff spots in D3.

Craig Forrest
31-08-16, 03:25 PM
Maybe Mark can boot him if he doesn't comply.... these 25 man squads are meant to force us to make hard decisions and prevent us from hoarding players and making a quick profit....

London35
31-08-16, 04:28 PM
i had origionally bid for players...and didnt win any bids...

i then bid for a handful of players assuming i might win the odd bid here and there....think i managed to win 10 out of 40 bids I put in...

did the same for another 40 players...(expecting to win another 10 ish) ...ended up winning 28 of them!...surprisingly..

so my squad was way over...but couldnt list any till today...so started that process...

BUT.....out of interest...

these 25 man squads are meant to force us to make hard decisions and prevent us from hoarding players and making a quick profit....

hmmm.....if your talking of fairness and not benefitting from any advantage....

so the fact Celtic get 60,000 plus attendances allowing them to spend over 40 mill on players...is that fair?
make a quick profit?...Celtic make more profit than me on a weekly basis? is that fair?
Celtic are top of div 3....so they are benefitting? is that fair?

not sure how or why you make this game fair under those circumstances?

maybe teams will less attendances and the poorer relations within the game actually CAN have bigger squads to compensate for not being able to make as much money as Celtic and buy the same quality players as them... if your all about being fair?!!?

Craig Forrest
31-08-16, 04:29 PM
because in previous leagues, the rich clubs buy and hoard all the good players/promising youngsters..... Mark imposed the squad limit and the opening salary cap to make sure that a) hoarding didn't happen, and b) we couldn't just have 2 teams of stars to rotate between.... we would actually have to work at rotating our squad and keeping players fresh for Cup, Shield, and League competitions.

Craig Forrest

The time to discuss the rules was before the game started, and everyone was invited to do so.

It's true the clubs with bigger stadiums have a massive advantage and they get it easy compared to us, but like CF says all this was discussed at the start, I actually wanted 30 man squads but the majority were for 25s so I had to keep within that and have done so.

Come on London, you can cancel deals at any time in the 24/48 hours it takes to sign players. Are you saying you placed 20-30 bids and then didn't look for over 48 hours to see if you got any of them? I know I was on every couple of hours to see if i'd been outbid or won the players.

For once I really thought Sanfrecca had a chance in the final this time around. It's easily the best side we have put together. Reckon they were a bit whacked out after the top of the table clash on Sunday. The run of defeats against Celtic rolls on ha ha. Well done on the win.

Don't think I have ever chosen the "timid" option. Not sure I could bring myself to do it ha ha.

As for Sanfrecca, a cool 4-0 win against Shamrock Rovers, with Dost scoring twice. Maybe I should have put him on the transfer list a bit earlier.

Nicely sets up a game against FC Kopar, in the next round. Looking forward to that one Pete Chalmers [emoji482]
