    Love the idea of keeping to one update and getting players age and promote through the ranks. Not sure about the rest of it though.


    I'd love a DTL type game, starting at a club of your choice, auctions for players, a budget, same sized grounds, all the usual gubbins, any team you want in the big four countries, say top 2 divisions, blah blah blah but with players ageing, youth promoting etc etc as this would make auctions more fun (bidding on youth and star players) but with you being the ass man so team selections are followed.

    The trouble with this would be...

    More work for you.
    Not many player v player games.

    This would be a game for the long haul, to see if that 17 year old you got in an auction for free really can bang them in at a higher level. Getting the 35 year old to actually sign a coach contract. That sort of thing. There would have to be reserve fixtures as well though.

    The one thing with editing save data, with transfers and the like, is you increase the chance of the game crashing which is why Mark does fresh restarts.

    I think if you want to continue with season after season using in game finances may be an idea. It was tried before and I think the person running it got overwhelmed. Now if we are to use in game finances you'd have to consider can you afford Messi and his wages. That and is he actually interested in joining your shitty club?

    Do we start with a level playing field same ground size, same reputation, blank squad and in game transfers? You'd have to do a search to see who is interested in your club and try and negotiate signing the big names with the club. This would mean no auctions and more research on the participants part.

    Or do you give a shitty club a better cash balance at the start?
    Run a season with no managers, and based on that award money based on the placings. The championship winners get 3m, and increase it in multiples of 100k per finish so the bottom team 5.3m. Then restart and either draft the team or draw lots so if you are 'unlucky' to get the team predestined to get relegated at least you may change their future with 5.3m. Does that make sense. Typing as I think...

    'More work for you': if everyone slips me a tenner each season, we don't have a problem!

    I'm easy and I do like the sounds of an ongoing save but 1 season to take 1 year IRL is far too long

    In no way do I want to make/force any changes without your consent. This is just some sparring to see if we can make/keep the UML an unique concept as I feel it's still a lot like DTL/CML.

    I'll take all your feedback in consideration and will come up with a plan for season 2 in a while.

    Hi mates.

    Last week I've put forward some suggestions on how to continue this league after the first season and I've asked for your feedback.

    Almost all of you have replied for which I'm very thankful.

    What stands out is that some of you would like to continue the current format for a couple of seasons before changing anything or starting over. Also some of you find keeping a savegame over multiple seasons instead of a fresh restart each season a good idea.

    No one favours running the game for 1 week ingame each week, because it will make the seasons too much of a drag which is understandable.

    For now I think it's best to stay as we are and continue on the path that we're already on. We could consider continuing the current savegame for next season instead of starting with a fresh save, but many of you will be stuck with the players that you've already acquired this season.

    So I'll make the decision to not change anything for now and look at this again in a couple of seasons.

    Well I thought about that, but don't think that's a good idea. Some managers might have build their squads with a restart each season in mind. If we would to carry over the squads to next season, they might be at a disadvantage.

    IF we make any changes to the format it will have to happen with a complete restart to avoid any disputes!

    But for now we'll stick with what we are doing and re-evaluate in a couple seasons.

    Would you guys mind if the save game is posted Sunday night instead of tonight? Basicly I've put this off the entire week as it's pretty shit to do manually and I didn't have the energy for it in the evenings after work.
