Thanks for all the recommendations guys (and girls) - is there any way around the "and have only recently purchased him" rebuttal? Seems most of the young players mentioned in the thread have this coming back at me.

    Hi...!
Just a little request : I started a game with Red Star 93 in National (France) and I have a 0€budget for transfer.
I already signed Samir Nasri (Thank you Sashead !) and it was quite a battle but I'm looking for other "great" players for free...

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to sign Armin Djerlek... :'(

    Thank you !

For Lower Leagues, Benoît Trémoulinas is free (but injuried) at the start of the game.

I have found Carl McHugh to be an outrageous DM for lower leagues and he can do a job in the Premier League too.

Surprised this guy hasn't been named yet: Marco Tumiatti from Cittadella.

I got him on my 3rd season with Stockport on my From Rags to Riches YouTube series. Bought him for 2.1 M from West Ham and he's banging goals in left and right. You can get him real cheap from Cittadella though.

Go check out my YouTube channel with lots of CM 01-02 related video's!

Check out Nicolas Raskin from Gent and Alphonso Davies from Vancouver. Both are great players.

    Vardy is class.

Lasogga can also be had for peanuts. He looks a bit slow, but always has lots of attempts and a good return ratio.

The Belgian league is full of tremendous players - Alexis De Sart from Sint Truiden got MOM in a Champions League Final for me when I bought him for Newcastle, don't buy his brother though, he's rubbish! Club Brugge is like Ajax, you could pretty much buy any of their players at random and they will turn out to be excellent. Anderlecht don't have so many, although Dendoncker is obviously great but he always ends up at Man U or Juventus etc. They do have a really good left sided midfielder called Amazu who isn't top class but for the price is a bargain for mid size teams. Finally, check out Zulte Waregem's squad, there are a couple of gems in there.....

All of the following can be acquired very cheaply or for free one or two years in, assuming you're at a half decent club. None of them have ever let me down.
