Close game but we sneaked it - nice one

Gaffer - if you are rested (after getting a 7+) do you go to the "end of the queue"?

Close one! Bit leaky at the back but a good solid Kowa performance won us the game. Well done lads!

Game time is good even at left back. Could have had an assist, back to training to learn how to tackle

Well Done lads. Dug in and came away with the points. Good result.

*thinks the seats in the stands are straining his ass muscles

*thinks Derm should be stripped of his captaincy - still very salty

*thinks AJ is engrossed in reading the dictionary

    *thinks the Gaffer is competent

*thinks his Friday night drinkup got out of hand

The Gaffer is certainly getting a fair idea over who he can rely on this season as the same quartet are once again missing - drkshadow1, BobMem, Felix and dl8860. It's just unfortunate that drkshadow1 is the only other left-back on the books with trunky still being two weeks away from returning to action from a groin strain.

For the trip to Birmingham, trunky is once again joined the sidelines by Dermotron who serves the final match of a three match ban. They have been joined by Spectral who has also suffered a groin strain and will be out of action for a month.

It makes the team selection tricky once more as The Gaffer intended to replace both full-backs from the 3:2 win over Bolton as the only ones registering a 6. As expected, GFRay will start in place of samsami with Dom named on the bench after returning from international duty. However, dweatherston11 will continue to fill in out of position at left-back with Effiong umarked! also lining up on the left side of the central duo instead of on his favoured right.

Fortunately, there are no other changes made to the squad as Spectral had missed out on the squad last time out. Redknapp69, jacobclear and Bevchenko will join the trio in the stands for this one.

Playing at St. Andrews, the Vipers are returning to the scene of a famous FA Cup victory back when they were a League Two side and managed a 2:1 win thanks to goals from evesham and Baz. Sadly, Baz is no longer at the club whilst evesham is on the bench for this one.

The players were certainly up for a repeat result as the Vipers hit Birmingham early with waves of attacks, gazzas1uk driving the ball way off target for their first effort whilst Kowalinho sent an ebfatz cross wide with a header. Both attempts came between an early blow for Birmingham who saw McCormack forced off injured after nine minutes and replaced by Colin.

The early pressure from the Vipers paid dividends when Gardner was booked for upending Kowalinho in the twelfth minute. gazzas1uk took the free-kick quickly but Morrison's header upfield was collected by Effiong unmarked! and drilled into the back of the net for his first ever Vipers' goal!

However, Birmingham snapped out of their slow start with Big E giving away a free-kick after pushing Kieftenbeld. Craig Gardner's pass down the wing to Colin saw him play the ball into the net where Gary Gardner himself smashed in a shot that went in off the post.

The momentum shift changed over completely when, after Joao had knocked down the ball for Kieftenbeld to try a diving header that went off target, Gary Garder this time started a move that was finished by his brother as he passed into the area for a Jota flick on to allow Craig Gardner to hit it high and hard into the goal.

Kieftenbeld had another chance, driving wide a shot before the Vipers got back into it as ZanSnake collected a pass by Kowalinho and moved forward with the ball only for Pedersen to put in a good sliding challenge. Big E picked it up, nutmegged Craig Gardner and struck the ball with fury, seeing it rocket it into the net for his own first Vipers' goal!

The lively first half continued as Kowalinho out-jumped Jota to head off target whilst Jota himself saw a shot from the outside of his boot hit the post a minute later. Craig Gardner's attempted follow-up was foiled as grianaig got down to parry it. The Vipers tried to find another goal to get back their lead but London35's blasted attempt went over the bar and Stockdale was able to beat away a shot from ebfatz before smothering the ball with ZanSnake set to strike. The right winger then sent wide a shot from long range.

As the second half got underway, who would try to get a winning goal? Kieftenbeld had another attempt off target before being hooked in the 53rd minute, being replaced by Mahoney.

The Gaffer followed suit in the 65th, after London35 had again shot over the bar, with pyromyst coming on for Big E and ten minutes later, AJ joined the action for Kowalinho.

It was hoped that the two changes would trigger some late drama for the Vipers, but though AJ fired a volley wide, Birmingham found the net themselves. With Davis coming on for Craig Gardner for the final eight minutes, Birmingham struck two minutes later as Jota crossed the ball in from the left where Anichebe was on hand to power the ball into the net via the underside of the bar.

The game wasn't over for the Vipers who tried to get an equaliser again. AJ saw an effort go inches wide but Birmingham took control of the final stages with grianaig doing well to get his fingertip to the ball from Joao's shot after dribbling past gazzas1uk. GFRay also gave away a free-kick for a trip on Anichebe, which resulted in an effort from the free-kick from Mahoney which grianaig managed to tip wide. Roberts met Jota's corner delivery but headed wide before the final whistle was heard.

The Vipers are next in action in four days time, playing away at Norwich where The Gaffer will be looking to make six changes.
