    E then

Was seeing some chick when I was a "youngster" who had a few issues (all good now though) and she always said this song reminded her of me -

F is for... Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Here is a classic slice of 1980s cold war art-pop disco paranoia. Growing up in the 80s I fully expected to be incinerated in the imminent nuclear holocaust, a perspective which was not exactly helped by the public information films constantly on TV, including at times when kids could see them, explaining what we should do when we here the attack siren (lie down and fucking pray, basically). The voice of those films, Patrick Allen, features prominently on this track which brilliantly subverts the mood of the times and repackages it in a R&B inspired disco monster.

There is another video on youtube, 'the producers' where the actual producers break down the difficulty the bass player had to perform the bassline live, followed by Trevor Horn busting out a killer version on his 5 string and an awesome acoustic cover of the song. Check it out.

Another one that I got from the Spotify recommendations. Also another one that's been on my main playlist for a while and is decent on running playlists! 'Not About You' by Haiku Hands. I don't know much about the band as this is their only song I know, so I decided to find something out about them, which was made more difficult by them not having a Wikipedia page (aren't I cool )

But from their website: "The unapologetic Australian trio have quickly earnt a fierce reputation for themselves from their formidable and rambunctious live performances that lead audience after audience into utter pandemonium."

Imagine Dragons. I first heard them in Assassins Creed ad and have been hooked ever since... (the song used in Assassin's Creed trailer was their best single imo: Radioactive).

But damn all their songs are hooking af. O_O And new single is nothing else, but hook machine.

A very much under rated band. I went to a girls house when this album came out. She had rather nice norks. I say nice, I mean massive. She let me touch them but her Dad was in the next room and had ears like a bat so that was that.

More about song: it's about one of Slovak Gods called Perun (the God of thunder and lightning). I like Slovak pagan mythology and I just cannot accept we forgot a lot about our traditions.

Could never work out if Sylvian was a standup dude or a bellend. Voice to die for... but lack of decent tunes overall? For some reason I want Japan to be a bit more than they seem.

No one wanted to go Mmmkay? xD

The band I do not need to introduce. The band which got me into metal (sorry Irons, heard Metallica and Testament before you). The culmination of greatness was their S&M album (Worlds first of the kind, classical orchestra + metal and it worked so damn well) when James vocals were the best they have ever been too.

Back to Q then - we're fooked and it's essentially Queen or Queens of Stone Age isns't it

Anyhoo, this was a helluva performance from the ledge that is George (I fecking love Wham! and George) and Queen

Properly got the crowd going and I bet if you were there you'll never forget that

The days before mobile phones and camera's etc were just used CONSTANTLY at a gig and people were just actually "in the moment"

1 hit wonder that band . I don't know their other songs .

S... Has so many bands/names that it's hard to chose from.

SABATON will be my pick for this Round. The only band who can rightfully call their music genre HISTORICAL METAL. Their songs are based on real life historical events, so their songs do have educational value too.

Go give them a listen, even if you're not a huge metal fan.

British prog metallers Threshold always hit the sweet spot between technical skills, melody and groove. Here's "Small Dark Lines" from their latest album. Class!

This will be a end post for Z and alphabet letter you don't have in England .

    Z

Zebrahead. Remember such band? Along with Offspring, Sum 41, Blink 182 they made the cult Pop punk history of 90s and early 00s! Still roll them in car... After all those years . POP PUNK NEVER DIED!!!

    Ż

Żywiołak - the band which once represented Poland in Eurovision, but I doubt people back then appreciated TRUE folk songs about folklore in Poland/Rusland.
I have been listening to them for years, they halted their activity for few years, but came back again and their newest songs are ABSOLUTE BLISS.
