Nothing wrong with 26 minute tracks

In my ongoing effort to keep this thread free of overrated Irish cheese rockers I propose heading back to the mid-90s and a prog house classic by Underworld. For those who think 'Born Slippy' IS Underworld this is a far superior track much more in line with their distinctive early sound. Top use of the Kraftwerk 'Radioaktivität' sample, for bonus points.

Will always remember a blissed out young lady in the Cream showing me something 'interesting' while this track was playing.

Not on YouTube but its on Spotify and iTunes

Four Walls by the Waifs - originally played by Cold Chisel but this cover is truly spectacular and a must listen

A truly amazing song in Australian history from songwriting genius Jimmy Barnes but this version took the cake for me

Guess I'm reaching here... At first I thought that this band was an early Phil Collins side project - well it's not - but if you are in to chill jazzy experimantal tunes from the 70's it's deffo that...

Coheed and Cambria - you know, I think, Claudio is up there with Toumas when it comes to writing songs. The story on each C&C album is grand and no wonder, it got transcribed into comics and full fledged novel (do read them while listening to Coheed and Cambria for full effect). Funnily enough, found this band by accident...

I'll get us back on track with 'Y' then! Yael Naim - New Soul. I think it was on a Macbook advert years ago? The one where they showed that it could fit in a manilla envelope... very useful. Anyway, in my old local (RIP) the jukebox had about 50 songs on it, and this was somehow one of them! I was the only one weird enough to put it on

Edit: here's the MacBook Air ad - 2008
    Spoiler!

    B

Bryan Adams and the perfect, most beautiful, love song. Can't believe this song is from 1995! (a bit of fun fact, I was 12 when the song came out and it was everyone's slow song on discos).

    D - Don Mclean - American Pie

This reminds me of when I was about 20 going in my old local (RIP) and on Saturday nights it was Karaoke night. This would be the last song played and everyone would be up singing it. Was a great atmosphere

Ah good original American Pie, not that Madonna cover. Thank God!

For those not paying attention this is F, F for Fleetwood Mac and this track is from their double LP Tusk which was released in '79.

Interesting and decidedly odd band, they seemed to find their muse in fucking (each other) and with each other's heads. On Tusk, Stevie Nicks is at the peak of her powers, in my opinion, and this is just one of three killer songs by her on the record (the others are Beautiful Child and Sara), while the tempestuous relationship between Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, whose approach to production was pretty much pure deranged, somehow took everything to an even higher level.

Warning: probably just dodge this one if you have recently split up with a loved one.

Keeping it old we go with Galt Macdermot for G

one of my fave musicians - way ahead of his time - which u can tell by the endless times he has been sampled decades later by other artists...

    Good that, Pisani.

Gonna grab H this time round, for one of the lesser appreciated but genuinely brilliant scouse bands who have been around since I can remember. H is for Half Man Half Biscuit

Where to start with this? Firstly, it's not (only) a joke, even though that's what you might think on first impression, especially with song names such as Joy Division Oven Gloves (actually a brilliantly observed critique of capitalism will eat itself commercialism), Achtung - Bono, Journey to the Bottom of the Road and 99% of Gargoyles Look like Bob Todd. Then there is their undying commitment to singing about football - 'All I want for Christmas is a Dukla Prague away kit', 'the Referee's Alphabet', 'Bob Wilson, anchor man' and many more.

Here is a song about walking down the high street in the average boring British town: National Shite Day. "There's a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets!".

    oops, double H Post....

    J

This will be weird for a lot of people here... But...

Jessie J. I love good vocals and she has something, not many other female pop vocalists have: perfect voice control (you can watch her other Singer 2018 performances in Korea where she was guest - all performances were performed LIVE).

Is it me or is she really underrated?
