    Neither autorun.exe or setup.exe working

Had to do a fresh reinstall but for some reason neither autorun or setup are working for me. I've tried running both as admin, I've made sure I have no other windows open, I've added both the exe's to the list of allowed programs through firewall, I've increased my virtual memory and restarted my laptop, I've even deleted it and downloaded the game again.

Re-installed the game countless times in the past without any hassle until now so at a bit of a loss...

    ISSUE RESOLVED!:

I must admit I'm not particularly good at keeping on top of all the junk that builds up on my laptop: it's one of those that when you turn it on you get a million-and-one things popping up like 'internet add-ons', so-called 'security updates', 'system-scanners', "did you know your computer could be under attack?!", Norton this DivX that etc (might as well accept that a lot of it's probably from downloading porn from dodgy torrent sites )

Anyway, potentially something that could be added to the FAQ section on the off-chance that someone else is ever struggling to get the autorun/setup to start (couldn't see anything there about it myself)

My first post here in months, luckily for you it might just help you! This worked for me when I was having this issue:

(as a bonus, if you keep the selective startup as opposed to reverting back to normal as instructed in step 6, you might notice a slight improvement in your computers general startup time, I did)

If that doesn't work have a look through this thread:

I had very similar issues but with 64bit Windows 7. No matter how much I tried either via disc or by mounting the .iso file, the game just wouldn't run the installation set up.

It seems as though something had messed up in my profile somehow. I don't know if it'll help you on Windows 8 but I actually created a new account (call it 'test') and strangely enough, the installation kicked in straight away. Once I installed it, I switched back to my own profile and was able to run the game through the program files (x84) folder.

    Hope that helps?

Glad it worked. I just assumed something had gone wrong somewhere when uninstalling the game and figured I'd try it in a fresh account.

Must remember it for the FAQ indeed, Fods

    Hi!
I need somebody's help! I installed the autumn update 2013 and then decided I wanted to go back to the original database. I
uninstalled the game and tried to reinstall but the autorun feature was not working. I've done the whole
uninstall/reinstall business many times with no problems. After a few days of troubleshooting I got the autorun feauture to
work but now more problems. When I get past the language choice a small set up box appears. That gets to 100% and then another box appears saying that the installshield engine has a problem. That won't allow me to complete the installation as it shuts down. I've
been on numerous sites (including the technical support of this forum) trying to find a fix. I've tried literally
everything (Startup boot, run as admin, change compatibility, update installshield engine, update windows installer etc...)
I can't think/find anything else to fix this problem, any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There is some process blocking setup.exe from running, start with disabling your AV

I'm on Win7 x64 laptop and have had no issues installing (only when I installed CM0001 also). Win7 32-bit caused more issue as I wasn't admin on the machine

You mean to try and install the game? Check out the auto run issues thread
