Golf: Masters Tournament - Outright Winner

First major of the year! McIlroy is disgustingly short-priced.

I've done what I did for the Players Championship - put the outsiders into odds bands (detailed below), because the field is LARGE.

I'll periodically update the odds over the next few days if I have the time/inclination, but the aforementioned bands will remain untouched.

Starts Thursday, not sure exactly what time at this point, so it might change slightly.

    • 100/1 Band: Thorbjorn Olesen, Eddie Pepperell, Matt Wallace, Branden Grace, Tyrrell Hatton, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Shane Lowry
    • 125/1 Band: Keegan Bradley, J.B. Holmes, Zach Johnson, Alex Noren, Hao-Tong Li, Billy Horschel
    • 150/1 Band: Lucas Bjerregaard, Emiliano Grillo, Danny Willett, Charl Schwartzel
    • 175/1 Band: Keith Mitchell, Kiradech Aphibarnrat
    • 200/1 Band: Kevin Na, Martin Kaymer
    • 250/1 Band: Corey Conners, Justin Harding, Aaron Wise, Jimmy Walker, Kyle Stanley
    • 300/1 Band: Stewart Cink, Kevin Tway
    • 350/1 Band: Vijay Singh, Bernhard Langer
    • 400/1 Band: Adam Long, Andrew Landry, Shugo Imahira, Patton Kizzire, Fred Couples
    • 500/1 Band: Viktor Hovland, Satoshi Kodaira, Michael Kim, Trevor Immelman
    • 750/1 Band: Takumi Kanaya, 1Jovan Rebula, Angel Cabrera
    • 1000/1 Band: Alvaro Ortiz, Kevin O'Connell, Devon Bling, Larry Mize, Ian Woosnam, Mike Weir, Sandy Lyle, Jose Maria Olazabal

Golf, the winner is always the second favourite, right?

Ooh, Tiger or Finau can get me back in the game here! Tied for second on -11; Molinari leads on -13 (Redders & lank on him).

One of my friends only bets on golf, €150 win on Molinari @ 16/1 (his usual stake would be €5-10!). He had a fiver on Casey as the other Masters bet

Why the heck would he go from 5-10 to 150?!

Had a few winners recently so had it to lose.

    Probably won't do it again

Yeah think he may be laying low for a while!

Didn't actually put any real money on this (often do on the golf given you can get 10th each way), but doubt I'd have backed Tiger anyway so no ragrets,

I backed John Rahm each way. The bookies were paying 7 places.

    -13 1st
    -12 T2nd (3)
    -11 T5 (4)
    -10 T9 (3)

    Surely -13 is 1st, -12 is 2nd, -11 is 3rd and so on with tie-breaker rules?

The way they are paying it you would get paid on Molinari each way but not Finau since he's 8th on the list

Hate to side with the bookies but that’s the way I understood it!

If you had someone who finished on -11 then 3/4 of your stake would be settled as a win at the place odds as they finished 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th, so 5th, 6th, 7th is a place and 8th isn't.

So Finau on -11 doesn't get paid and the other 3 on -11 do get paid?

No, everyone on -11 will get paid, but if you had a £1 each way on him then your bet will be settled as having 75p on him getting a place (so his 33/1 divided by 4 - I assume it was 1/4 odds the first 7).

But that's my point, isn't down to -6 for 7 places but with deadheat rules for the tied placings?

The top 7 final scores (without volume of players) are:

    -13
    -12
    -11
    -10
    -8
    -7
    -6

No it's the number of players, not the number of scores, someone who finished on -10 didn't finish in the first 7.
