    December 2024

Well, well, well - a flurry of transfer activity has seen some eyebrow-raising moves take our international contingent from two to four, as the Brackley Bunch are now represented in Spain, Italy, Greece and Switzerland.

    • AJ, Cardiff City to Accrington Stanley, Free
    • Dermotron, Crystal Palace to West Bromwich Albion, £10,250,000
    • generalsmuts, Cardiff City to Brentford, £4,500,000
    • CMCZ, Oldham Athletic to Stoke City, £3,700,000
    • trunky, Bristol City to St. Gallen, £825,000
    • Redknapp69, Leeds United to Celta, £8,500,000

Brackley continue to thrive despite their fire sale of our 19 youngsters - just past the halfway point of the season, they're six points clear at the top of the National League, with a game in hand over their nearest rivals.
    Spoiler!

    adnams - Sunderland, Premier League
Reining Sunderland Suppoters' Player of the Year adnams continues to take the Premier League in his stride, scoring 11 times in his 22 appearances. Sunderland may be sat bottom of the league, but his individual performances have kept him in the England squad, winning his third cap as a substitute in a 2-0 friendly win over Portugal.
    Spoiler!

    AJ - Accrington Stanley, Championship
The move away from Cardiff seems to have done Dutch-German defender AJ the world of good - he's impressed in his first 15 appearances for the Championship strugglers, even notching his first goal for three years in the process. Accrington Stanley (who are they?!) sit perilously in 20th... they could do worse than make AJ the first name on the teamsheet to drag them to safety.
    Spoiler!

    AtomicAnt - Southampton, Premier League
English midfielder AtomicAnt continues to struggle to break into his new team, and his 6 appearances in the first half of this term has him wondering what the future holds. The Saints are sat impressively in 5th, and with Leander Dendoncker and Memphis Depay occupying two of the midfield spots he'd like to be, he may have to remain patient.
    Spoiler!

CMCZ - Stoke City, League One
Oldham to Stoke might sound like a good move for CMCZ, but with his former side gaining promotion and his new side suffering relegation, he remains in League One. But he's been almost ever-present (26 appearance, 1 goal) for a Potters side that sit at the top of the league, looking good for promotion at the first attempt. A hamstring injury means that he'll be out of action for a month - hopefully his teammates can cope without him.
    Spoiler!

Craig Forrest - Olympiacos, Super League Greece
Canadian goalkeeper Craig Forrest has continued to occupy the sticks for Greek giants Olympiacos in European competitions, playing all 8 of those games but, puzzlingly, has only made the same amount of appearances so far in the league, as they try out some of their youngsters. He fared a little better in the Champions League this year, registering 7 points in the group stage - but that wasn't enough to put them through, and they didn't last long in the Europa League, crashing out to Everton, 2-0 on aggregate.
    Spoiler!

Dermotron - West Bromwich Albion, Championship
After West Brom splashed an eye-watering £10,250,000 on Irish striker Dermotron, he repaid them the only way he knows how - goals. 21 of them in 27 appearances going a long way to helping The Baggies to the top of the Championship table. His return to form has also seen him regain his place in the Ireland squad, winning his third cap.
    Spoiler!

    drkshadow1 - Birmingham City, Championship
A similar story to last season, as drkshadow1 finds himself in-and-out of the Birmingham side, featuring 14 times, but only 8 of them from the start. A couple of assists in that time won't have done his chances any harm, but may have to bide his time and watch largely from the sideline as The Blues attempt a playoff push from their current 12th position.
    Spoiler!

    dweatherston11 - Cardiff City, Championship
Cardiff's return to the Championship has coincided with dweatherston11's return to the bench. Frustratingly, he's once again proved he can do it when afforded the opportunity - 2 goals in 4 appearances - but there's a distinct lack of trust from his manager. After a few empty threats, he seems to have finally had enough, handing in a transfer request, citing the need for first team football as his reason to get out. The Bluebirds are going ok in the second tier, planted safely in 13th.
    Spoiler!

ebfatz - Burton Albion, League One
ebfatz continues to do what ebfatz does best - perform well and score goals. 11 in 21 games this time around as his Burton side have climbed to 4th place in League One, threatening the automatic promotion places. He's happy at the club, who are probably wondering why they sent him out on loan a couple of seasons ago.
    Spoiler!

    Erkifino - Chesterfield, National League
Chesterfield continue to run Erkifino into the ground, starting him at every opportunity. 26 appearances so far this season have seen him perform well in The Spireites' engine room, even providing 5 assists for his teammates to help the club to 7th place in the National League. With just two spots to compete for, promotion may be beyond them this season.
    Spoiler!

    evesham - Liverpool, Premier League
Algerian centre-back evesham has had a busy few months, making 25 starts so far as he cements his place as Virgil van Dijk's partner. He's scored a couple of goals in that time but, for once, Liverpool aren't topping the Premier League table, sitting 3rd currently. He also bagged his first international goal, scoring a penalty in a drubbing of Libya in his 21st appearance for his country. Unfortunately, a groin strain has interrupted his season, putting him out until February.
    Spoiler!

    generalsmuts - Brentford, Premier League
Another who left Cardiff in the search of greener grass, generalsmuts seems to have found it in Brentford. The step up to the Premier League has proved a small one for him, registering a goal and an assist in his 16 appearances. The Bees are battling valiantly, currently sat in 16th place.
    Spoiler!

mikecoxon - AFC Fylde, National League
Not a single appearance for mikecoxon in the first half of the season, but his Fylde nightmare is almost over - with his contract up in the summer, National League rivals Maidenhead United will be securing him on a Bosman at the season's end.
    Spoiler!

    Redknapp69 - Celta, Segunda Division
An interesting move for Redknapp69, as he departs Yorkshire for north west Spain to join second-tier Celta. He's once again proving to be an assist machine, laying on 14 goals for his new teammates - as well as scoring 5 times himself. El Celticos are knocking on the door of the top three as they attempt to secure an instant return to La Liga. Rumour has it that, like a certain other Welshman playing in Spain, Redknapp69 has not yet shown a willingness to learn the language.
    Spoiler!

riise - Tottenham Hotspur, Premier League
Spurs have finally toppled Liverpool to sit 1st, but riise isn't as happy about it as he should be, given that he's only featured 8 times. He's done something about it - securing a New Year's Day move to Premier League rivals Manchester City.
    Spoiler!

    samsami - Cardiff City, Championship
Promotion to the Championship doesn't look to have hurt samsami's minutes much - he's made 20 appearances before the turn of the year. Those appearances have yielded 3 goals and 5 assists, helping steer Cardiff to the relative safety of mid-table. He's happy at the club - the only one of the Brackley Bunch to have any nice memories of south Wales.
    Spoiler!

    Spectral - Cagliari, Serie A
Fewer opportunities for Spectral this season, but that has perhaps forced him to redouble his efforts when given a rare opportunity. Despite playing just 9 games, he's already equalled his best goals and assists totals - 6 and 9, respectively. Surely he has to feature more prominently in the second half of the season, for a Cagliari side who sit 11th in Serie A.
    Spoiler!

    SteveHarle - Fulham, Premier League
Few signs of life in SteveHarle's Fulham career (8 appearances), prompting him to finally seek opportunities elsewhere - on New Year's Day, he'll join Championship high-flyers Newcastle United. Interestingly, the Malta manager persuaded the winger to switch allegiances, promptly giving him five international caps. Finishing dead last in their World Cup Qualifying group, it wasn't until his most recent cap that he finally tasted victory, in a friendly against fellow minnows Faroe Islands.
    Spoiler!

trunky - St. Gallen, Swiss Super League
An intriguing move for Iceland international trunky, as he heads to Switzerland for a relatively small fee. He's stepped right in to make himself an integral part of the side, starting 19 games and scoring a couple of goals from defence. After seeing off Hearts and Metz, St. Gallen's Europa League journey came to an end at the Round of 32 stage, being outclassed 5-1 on aggregate by Vitesse.

Made sure I boxed this off earlier in the week, no way it was getting done on Sunday

Liverpool five points back from Spurs, and also a point behind United. So still a chance to make it seven in a row!

Good to still be getting goals though.
