Given how close Sequeira is to scoring 1000 goals for the club I thought I would give a quick early season update:

Fantastic Community Shield match for Sequeira scoring 4 goals taking him to 991 goals. He drew a blank in the next two games.

He scored a single goal in each of the next three games taking him to 994.

A hat-trick against Rosenborg in a Champions League group game took him to 997.

2 goals followed in a Premier League game against MK Dons took him to 999.

Next up a Champions League game against Benfica at Old Trafford.

Manchester United host Benfica in the 1st Group stage of the Champions League. A near capacity crowd of 86,977 wait in anticipation for Daniel Sequeira to score his 1000th goal for the club in his 559th game for the club.

Already 1 up but down to 10 men the fans had to wait for the 45th minute for the Argentinian superstar to hit the 1000 mark. Not one of his usual trademark strikers finishes but a dodgy penalty at the Stretford End. Former United keeper Zizek bringing him down in the box and being sent off for his troubles. Daniel stepped up and, sending the substitute keeper the wrong way, lashed the penalty home.

United ran out easy 4 - 0 winners.

Even though I had it running in very slow I was too slow myself to pause and screenshot the flashing message in the middle of the screen which was disappointing

Congratulations ! Atleast it was a European game and not a wet Wednesday away game to Rochdale

559 games to get the 1,000th goal is sensational.

I am getting a bit bored of this save and now he has hot 1000 it might be a bit of an anti-climax. Not that the save was started for this challenge Sequeira just fell into my lap.

Sequeira is on 550 league goals now and has just turned 30 with 5 years left on his contract with a bit of luck he might get to 800 league goals which makes me think if I had signed him at 16 instead of 20 it might have been possible to get 1000 league goals.

I may give it a bit of a break and try the Sheffield United one season challenge and I have an idea to try a Brazilian save with the aim of getting a striker to score 1000 league goals. Although finding a player as prolific as this might be beyond difficult.

Some would say a dodgy penalty would be most apt for a United player!

Will make sure to get up to date on this tonight when home, like you've said Renitor I'm tempted to do this in Brazil as well, I've got a week off in a couple of weeks so will smash it then.

Should be easy to do it in Brazil, but I found the incessant games a bit of a drag. In fact there are too many games for one guy to play in all of them

Was thinking 1000 league goals so drop the striker for any cup/continental games

    Finally up to date

Kingsley - Once he signed that new contract it was never in doubt, and away at Oswesrty Matthew Williams bagged his 1000th goal.

Renitor - Sequeira looks an absolute beast! Once you decided to tackle the 1000 goal challenge it was matter of when not if with them stats, but you absolutely smashed it!

I'll add something to the OP to show all who have completed it now.

Quick update - just over 26 months after scoring his 1000th goal for the club Sequeira is still going strong and has just recorded his 1200th goal for United.

Unbelievably at 33 years old Daniel Sequeira puts in another amazing season scoring 124 goals in 65 games.

His third best season for me and best for 7 years.

His record now stands at a fantastic 1380 goals in 751 games (including 1 as substitute). He has two years left on his contract hopefully he can reach 1500 goals. He has 742 leagues goals in 436 league games. I hope he'll get more than 800.

He's won 4 Balon D'Ors (vastly under represented) and 4 third places and won an unprecedented 12 Best Fifa Men's Player awards and 8 PFA players Player of the year awards (mostly due to not having played sufficient league games at the cut off points usually one or two short)

    Quick update on Daniel Sequeira:

He's still plodding along at 38 years old but can't maintain anywhere near his goal ratio, about three in 4 now. Now in season 2050/51 and I think he'll probably retire at the end of the season although he has one more year left in his contract.

    Currently he stands at:

Played 1073 games, scored 1663 goals, of which 584 are league games and 904 league goals.
