Advice needed on the in game summer updates

Around June 19th each year, the game updates. I'm currently playing the alphabet game, so have all leagues loaded. My laptop is fairly low end price wise, but is only a couple of years old.

I'm almost 20 seasons into the save, and the summer update is taking longer and longer. Yesterday it took almost 2 hours. Is there a way of speeding up this process?

I'm wondering whether it's worth using 'Save compressed'

I'm also wondering if it's worth temporarily disabling my anti virus? (Windows Defender)

    Any advice will be appreciated.

Save compressed wont help but disabling windows defender real time protection will help a lot if you on win10
