    I love this one

    Liston's most famous case
Amputated the leg in under 212 minutes (the patient died afterwards in the ward from hospital gangrene; they usually did in those pre-Listerian days). He amputated in addition the fingers of his young assistant (who died afterwards in the ward from hospital gangrene). He also slashed through the coat tails of a distinguished surgical spectator, who was so terrified that the knife had pierced his vitals he dropped dead from fright.

That was the only operation in history with a 300 percent mortality.

A few of my go-to Wiki articles have already been posted, but here's a couple of others...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi-Fi_murders - pretty grisly, not for the faint-hearted.

The Hi-Fi murders were the brutal torture and killings of three people during a robbery at a home audio store in Ogden, Utah on the evening of April 22, 1974. Several men entered the "Hi-fi Shop" shortly before closing time and began taking hostages; two would survive but with severe life-changing injuries.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_is_dead - spent wayyy too long reading about this when I first came across it.

"Paul is dead" is an urban legend and conspiracy theory alleging that Paul McCartney, of the English rock band the Beatles, died in November 1966 and was secretly replaced by a look-alike.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lists_of_lists - well, if you have a few weeks to waste.

This is a list of articles that are lists of list articles on the English Wikipedia. In other words, each of the articles linked here is an index to multiple lists on a topic. Some of the linked articles are themselves lists of lists of lists. This article is also a list of lists.

    Friday afternoon...

    The Turk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Turk
The Turk, also known as the Mechanical Turk or Automaton Chess Player, was a fake chess-playing machine constructed in the late 18th century. From 1770 until its destruction by fire in 1854 it was exhibited by various owners as an automaton, though it was eventually revealed to be an elaborate hoax.

    Phantom Time Hypothesis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_time_hypothesis
The phantom time hypothesis is a historical conspiracy theory asserted by Heribert Illig. First published in 1991, it hypothesizes a conspiracy by the Holy Roman Emperor Otto III, Pope Sylvester II, and possibly the Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII, to fabricate the Anno Domini dating system retrospectively, in order to place them at the special year of AD 1000, and to rewrite history

    Centralia, Pennsylvania: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvania

The Chamberlin, a forerunner of the Mellotron. Window cleaner Bill Franson (Fransen is the spelling on the Mellotron page and on Mellotron's site) deserves a wiki page of his own.
