Using the 89/90 or 94/95 data with CM3

Hi all, really enjoying the 'retro' databases available for 01/02 on here. Big fan of 90's football.

Would it be possible to use these databases on CM3 or convert them somehow?

And would it be possible to mod the CM3 exe to start in 1989 or 1994?

CM01/02 is obviously the better game, but CM3 has the old Cup Winners Cup and a more period-accurate Champions League format.

[QUOTE=marksbros6;481058]Hi all, really enjoying the 'retro' databases available for 01/02 on here. Big fan of 90's football.

Would it be possible to use these databases on CM3 or convert them somehow? - Yes but it takes ages but could be tempted if there is a 93 CM3 Exe. EDIT - trying to see if insert ok, not doing managers or fixing leagues though.

And would it be possible to mod the CM3 exe to start in 1989 or 1994? - Yes but only if Nick was up for it

CM01/02 is obviously the better game, but CM3 has the old Cup Winners Cup and a more period-accurate Champions League format - Does CWC not only work for 1 season? what is CL difference?

    And don't forget I have retro dbs for 0001 for years 93, 95 & 98. Part done for 89 & 97

A save to look at, doesn't have a 93 exe so made them younger 5 years instead - https://www.sendspace.com/file/3eq8yz

    Alright Cam:

Champions League in 98/99 I think was one group-stage, followed by round of 16, Quarters, Semi’s over 2 legs and then Final.

99-onwards it was the first group stage, then a second group-stage then quarters, Semi, final (same as the 01/02 format).

Cup Winners Cup: I remember when I first played CM3 I won the league cup as Spurs (being a dirty ‘save-scummer’) in the first season. 99/00 season was in the Cup Winners Cup. I’ve got a Man U game going on at the mo with the db you sent me, so will see what happens on that version? I remember reading strategy guides saying that the CWC was only in the first season so will have to see.

Cheers for the reply. Will check out your 93 db (been playing the 94 one a lot). Have re-discovered that ‘era’ of Spurs history lately during lockdown (when we were crap, lol)

Will hit-up Nick as well on here and ask him nicely if it’s a plausible thing.

98/99 CL format was more than just no 2nd round group stage though, the CL structure is hard coded that's why not even the patches for 01/02 can amend it,

    Ah, Group, Quarters, Semi’s, Final.

    I stand corrected.

That’s my point though; playing Retro db on the 00/01 or 01/02 leaves you with the incorrect formats, while CM3 has a more ‘period accurate’ version of the competitions for the mid-90’s

Not sure about that, there's only 24 teams in the CL in 98/99 (6 groups of 4) and then only the group winners and two best 2nd placed teams advance, then it's accurate to the modern day.
