He has a very unfortunate second name. Played for Benfica. Brazilian.

    Check it out.
Trust me, you won't forget him then onwards.

Could never get Samuel to perform for me, so I'm going Nesta and Cannavaro

Argel - was always too old and wouldn't leave Benfica.

Ayala - Too old so I never went for him
Bramble - He wasn't very good, or was he...?
Campbell - Class but was 'unbuyable' for me.
    Cannavaro - Quality.
Ferdinand - Top one or two
Hofland - not as good for me as he was for the computer
Hyypia - Bought him when he was quite old but he was good, not amazing.

    Klompe - Flop
Lucio - Low positioning stat always threw me off
Nesta - very good. One of the best.
Okoronkwo - Excellent. Go to when beginning a team
Said - Brother used to buy him every time. So I avoided.
Samuel - Was a monster for that Roma side.
    Stam -
Terry - He wasn't great. Average of I remember.
West - Beast of a free transfer.
    Worns - Too old.
    Someone else...

We had a Portuguese league where three us played together... We'd actually share the same PC and sit on a bench, taking turns to search for players abd play our matches... Seems such an odd thing looking back but it had it's own special factor.

Ah... Those were the days. Get back from school and load up the game

I remember having Leandro Cufre, Sebastian Pena and Sebastian Mendez I think as my back three for Sporting.
Went on to win the treble (two brothers were Porto and Boavista) with my Sporting team in the third season on the original unpatched 3.9.60 I think it was that comes in the

I'm pretty sure that was tougher than 3.9.68.

Let me see if I can remember my team...

    Leandro Cufre CB

    Frederico Lussenhoff CB

    Christian (Bordeuax)
    Benjani
    Emile Mpenza

    More or less that ^
Probably my most enjoyable save in the original game.
My brothers and I would battle it out for the league, cup abd European success each season. Surprised I was able to win the CL. Was a game in extra time, the final. I remember deciding to read the commentary on slow with it being the final.

    Hofland is world class.
In have him in plenty of clubs and he is always great.
Hofland-Samuel is one of all time best duo in cm 01/02.

Terry needs 2-3 years since he is still young, but after 3 years he is fantastic.
Maldini,Kohler,Hierro are way too old,but they are still better than 75% of defenders in first two seasons.

He was for me when I managed Ipswich years ago. He was consistently one of my best players, and one of the best-performing defenders in the whole PL.

On that note, I have to mention Arjan de Zeeuw. I signed him in late 2002 for 170k, and while his stats declined after a few seasons, while he was in his prime he performed just as well as Bramble, if not slightly better. Obviously he's not in the same class as the other names mentioned in the thread, but IMO de Zeeuw is an excellent bargain choice if you can't afford those players or they decline your offers.

Bras, Portuguese Centre half, always does a number for me. Works well with the Portsmouth centre half who I can't remember the name of. Nope, sorry, still can't.

    Hang on...

    Nope.

    As you were.

Agree for Yepes. Have coached him in so many clubs, even in the top ones (Juventus, Man Utd).

From the choices, i voted for West and Okoronkwo, my two other usual signings.
The best of the game though, are Nesta and Samuel for me.
