I think I noticed the guys you've got in - Bolasie and El Ghazi on top of the ones you already had. Frustrated me given at Stoke we literally only have two wingers - McClean and Ince.

So Dean Smith has been appointed, pleased as he's always been my first choice to succeed Bruce. He supports the club so he should get what it's all about. Hopefully he can instil a more attacking style of play.

John Terry back as assistant, seemed to enjoy it here last year and knows most of the squad (insert joke here)

Interesting appointment. A bit like Stoke, going for a younger approach and someone who has built a reputation in the past few years.

Jury still out on Rowett but looks like he's turning a corner. I'm sure Smith will work out fine at Villa but will need patience from the fans.

I was surprised just because the first I heard after they sacked Bruce was that they were primed to go for a big name. Probably a good thing they didn't give the job to Terry or Henry, mind.

I'll just say be wary of sacking the old guard who are starting to look past it, and bringing in young managers with no experience at this level.

Although to be honest, as long as we stick by Hurst the future looks brighter than it has for a while.

Just the present that needs attention...

Certainly more interesting than just getting another one of the usual suspects off the merry-go-round.

Do you think Stoke will be in the mix or is it about stabilising this season?

While the prospect of someone like Henry was intriguing I think Smith is definitely more logical.

From the outside looking in he's done a decent job at Brentford, although i'm aware he had a big support team of data analysts etc.

Great for you to get that first win. Like you say while it's a risk, the upside could be far more rewarding.

Potter is working his magic at Swansea

Finally the "Swansea Way" (on the field) is coming back and the fans are right behind this bunch of kids

Off the field is a still horrendous but there is a real bond between fans, manager and players now

Most Swans fans are happy in Championship for a couple of years. Don't think it would be good if they went up via play offs this season.

But methinks Potter will get nabbed by a bigger club after "x" time

If Swans get top half this year that'll be great - play off's would be stretch target

Who the heck knows? After the first 10 games, we were just hopeful of finishing in the top half but now we've won two on the spot, we're only 3 points from the playoffs. It's still very early days and anything can happen. Rowett himelf pointed out that he had a bad start last season at Derby, got to the top then had a sticky spell but still ended up in the playoffs. He's also pointed out that Fulham had a worse start at this point too.

Considering the players Swansea have lost Potter's doing well so far. Have only seen highlights but can definitely see signs of the passing football returning.

I'll be able to have a look at Villa Park next Saturday, hopefully we can kick-start our season.

Whoever can put a run together will shoot up the table, I suppose most of the division will still fancy their chances.

It's a cracking division fair play - always a league where nearly everyone can and does beat everyone - very rarely that some teams are left properly adrift

Absolutely, it's an exciting league this year and very open. As a Blade I'm loving it! Don't expect to be in this position by May, but am enjoying the ride while it lasts.

Have to say, Stoke are the worst team I've seen this season. Some very talented individuals, but far too many simple mistakes like misplaced passes and they really didn't look like they were playing as a team.

Best team I've seen so far? Well, Boro thrashed us so I suppose I'd say them, although it was quite a strange game. Swansea and Derby played well too at times.

Swans kids playing some nice stuff - playoffs would be a big stretch target for them and TBH I think most Swans fans would rather they go up in a years time when hopefully off the field stuff is sorted

Table is so close - small numnber of points throwing a blanket over half the teams!

Not seen Ipswich then? Going to finish rock bottom.

Personally, I felt Bolton were the worst team I've come across myself this year.

Yeah they’re bad to be fair, but at least they have a crack. Ipswich just roll over every game.

I felt sorry for Paul Hurst tbh, not very often that a manager who did a good job in the lower leagues get a crack at a higher level and it clearly didn't work out for them. Didn't help that they loaned Walters too and I think results picked up but he did his knee in or something. I'll be interested to see how Paul Lambert gets on there now

They’ve been punching for years though Mick never seemed to have any money. Was always going to be a poisoned chalice whoever took over (much like when Fergie got replaced). Lambert should have enough to stir something in them, hope they stay up but can see them being too far adrift come January.

BobMem's an Ipswich fan too, doesn't seem to have much to say in this thread

Not sure he'd be happy with an ex-Norwich manager being in charge!

He weren't happy when Lambert got appointed Ipswich boss in my Sir Bobby Robson story so God knows what he'll be like now

Haha! Perhaps 'worst' is a bit harsh, but the disparity between my expectations and the perrformance was significant. Every time someone like Afobe got the ball I was worried, and yet nothing ever came of it. Untill that free kick...

Anyway, I still think you'll come good this season. Keep the faith!

Not yet, we've got them in the middle of December. Just enough time for Lambert to have turned it around...

We have showed signs of improving after that awful start. But every time we put in a decent performance and get a couple of results together, we then take two steps back and start all over again. Going to be one of those seasons though I'm still hopeful we can catch up with the top 10.

    It's a really tight league.

Stoke have Tony Pulis's Middlesbrough this weekend which should be fun. It has 0:0 written all over it

Haven't seen the Championship table for a while so thought I'd check it out. It also had last five results on it and yours reads like CM01/02 when you get to 2018... 2-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1, 1-0!
