Great write up again Sickie Mark. 3 draws, a win and a loss means mid table obscurity this season.

The Dream Team League - Season 2 - May)

The Champions League kicks off May for us as we have both Janis89 and ajvonkrondor playing away from home. ajvonkrondor has the tougher task, playing at Barcelona but Janis89 also has a tough game, going up against Lionel Messi at Napoli.

The result wasn't the one that either manager was looking for and they'll do well to overturn the deficit in the second leg:

I think it's fair to say that Janis89 is out of the competition unless he gets a good start at home in the second leg. ajvonkrondor certainly has a chance though if he can get a 2-0 win at home. Both managers were actually winning by half-time in the second leg but unfortunately, goals from their opposing numbers mean they both go crashing out. At least Janis89 went out with a win:

A midweek run of games saw three managers take part. Erkifino got a much needed win thanks to Sebastian Rode and it put him into 2nd place where he was just a point behind Janis89. However, ajvonkrondor has a game in hand now while Janis89 has THREE games in hand on Erkifino! Jesus took an early lead against Mark with Sandro scoring a 5th goal of the season but goals from Rodrigo Palacio and Vlad Chiriches turned it around. Sandro scored again to level terms but a winning goal arrived in the 86th minute from Jeremy Menez, keeping Mark 4th and three points clear of BobMem.

Then came Soccer Saturday where there were only five managers involved on that day but they were key games indeed as Janis89 faced up to ebfatz at home while Erkifino took on Charlton and Jesus travelled to Leeds. trunky also welcomed Redknapp69 to The Kingston Communications Stadium. As Erkifino strolled into a 3-0 lead thanks to Rode, Lucas Moura and Thomas Ince, it was all eyes on Old Trafford where Younes Belhanda's 15th goal of the season made it look as though it was business as usual for Janis89 only for Gary Hooper and Brown Ideye's 5th of the season to turn it around completely. Erkifino was loving the scoreline only for Mario Gomez to score his 35th goal of the season in the 93rd minute! As for Jesus, he lost 2-0 at Leeds while Redknapp69 won 3-2 despite trunky leading twice through Sergi Roberto's 15th of the season and Ezequiel Lavezzi. Fernando Llorente struck twice and David Villa scored the winner for Swansea. As Erkifino moved to the top, it was certainly getting very interesting up there:

The next day on Super Sunday, it was a bad day at the office for both Fodster and BobMem who lost 2-0 and 1-0 to Liverpool and Chelsea. ajvonkrondor was then shocked to lose at St. James' Park where Rodrigo Palacio got his 20th and 21st goals of the season to give Mark a 2-1 win despite Bas Dost's late goal. It was a game that surprisingly puts Mark 3rd and ajvonkrondor into 4th place.

Janis89 was then forced to play his games in hand in quick succession as Erkifino once again watched on with keen eyes. Mario Gomez scored first in his home game where he played against trunky. It did seem as though it was cruise control for Man Utd up until Ashley Young equalised for Hull. Then, Vurnon Anita scored out of nowhere in the 83rd minute. But that man saved the hide of Janis89 once again as Gomez scored an 87th minute equaliser that put Janis89 back at the top of the table, pushing Erkifino into 2nd place only by goal difference.

The next match was a tough looking fixture at Crystal Palace for Janis89. The team that had been put together by Kaneman were giving Janis89 a hard game but a breakthrough was found in the 42nd minute by that man again, Gomez. However, Crystal Palace were not out of what was actually a very even game. Petros Skapetis levelled the game in the 57th minute and the nerves of Janis89 were tested to the limit again! This time, Gomez could not bail Man Utd out as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw. With one more game in hand, Janis89 was now clear of Erkifino by just a single point.

There was just one final chance for Janis89 to secure the title and he may not have an easier opponent as Leicester come to Old Trafford. Certainly, it looked as the Premiership trophy would be on its way there with Pedro and Mauro Cabellero scoring early on. However, Raphael Varane pulled one back for Leicester to leave the Man Utd supporters thinking "here we go again!". But although Leicester were the stronger side, Janis89's men finally held on for once and got the win that secures them the Premiership title! Janis89 becomes the first player to win the Premiership in the Dream Team League! Meanwhile, a fine start for BobMem at White Hart Lane saw William Carvalho and Kelvin give him a 2-0 half-time lead to go level with ajvonkrondor. However, Ander Herrera and Patricio Julian Rodriguez scored goals in the second half to tie the game and ajvonkrondor secured a Champions League spot.

The drama was all over now as Janis89 wrapped up the title before the last round of fixtures for the season. In fact, everything was already wrapped up as Janis89, Erkifino, Mark and ajvonkrondor were guaranteed the Champions League spots while Sunderland, Fulham and Charlton were already relegated. In the end, the top seven teams and trunky all won their final games as Jesus and ebfatz ended with defeats while Fodster also drew.

That left the final table looking like so:

Dermotron knew he only had one game left of the season in the Championship but it was a game he needed at least a point from in order to be named as title winners. With Stoke winning 2-1 at home to Yeovil, a draw was definitely needed and it didn't look good for him when Irven Avila put Blackburn ahead. But roared on by their home crowd, Henri Saivet scored a debut equaliser that tied the game and was also enough to earn Southampton the Championship title!

ajvonkrondor will have been left disappointed by his elimination in the Champions League while also losing some form in the Premiership. However, he had a very good chance of winning some silverware as he went up against Liverpool in the FA Cup Final who still had a team largely assembled by Ste117. Many punters were tipping Romelu Lukaku to score against his former manager but that turned out not to be the case as Liverpool rarely threatened the Spurs backline with just one shot in the entire game. ajvonkrondor's men did dominate most of the game but it wasn't a hugely entertaining affair. He won't care though as one man's 34th goal of the season means he takes over from Erkifino as the current FA Cup winner:

Finally, the UEFA Cup Final! Mark had made it all the way to play against Dynamo Kiev who had beaten Erkifino in the Semi Final. It all looked to be going well when Olivier Giroud put Newcastle ahead before half-time with only his 5th goal of the season. However, Aleksandr Kokorin equalised shortly after the break and no more goals were scored throughout the rest of the 90 minutes and extra-time, meaning it went to penalties.

    Well Done all the Winners.

Despite being low in the table. It was more than comfortable Norwich staying up.
Now the choice, spend my hoards of cash or accumulate even more!!

    Great end to the season!

Congrats to the winners - commiserations to the losers - Marky losing on pens especially harsh!

Looks like we need to step up in CL - DTL managers got their asses smacked in semi's!

Superb last couple of months from the Swans. 4 wins from the last 5 games puts in in 7th and a possible UEFA/Intertoto place?!

Already looking forward to next season!

Beautiful write up as ever Mark - great effort in running this

Right............let's see if we can haggle

Ever since letting go of our beloved 451 things have massively improved. Shame about the run of draws at the end. If weŽd played 442 all season, maybe weŽd have given Janis a run for his Ikea Dollars.. Was keeping an eye out for the title, but Man Utd start was just too damn good.

We got the the semiŽs of the CL and won the FA Cup. That in itself is quite pleasing, Ibra performing as he did even more.

Very much looking forward to season nr 3!

Thx once again, Mark, for bringing nothing but good things to our lives!

Fantastic write up Mark and congratulations to Janis for winning the league. Also a shout to the one and only AJ on securing the FA Cup.

I'm absolutely shocked at how bad this season has been for us. The team really have pulled themselves to pieces and underperformed after managing to get in to the European places last season. A massive summer required now to bring some quality in to the side and get rid of the deadwood who are moaning and groaning for no reason. Back to the drawing board...!
