A well detailed interview. Enjoyable read, vin

I grew up to an era of Carl Fogarty as my old man loved his world superbikes back in the day. Still getting into it now with the whole Rossi debacle a few months ago.

You may just be up there with me in terms of hours invested into CM. Amazing

Pro Cycling Manager? - You and Ste should get together!

FIFA - you should join the CM FIFA League - my first time joining this year. I am horrendous and bottom of league but great fun

Q12 - That Stevie G goal was INSANE - he was fooked and on his arse then mustered a helluva strike

The Gambler - cracking tune that!

Following on from vinjwoods, as requested, is someone from the DTL. So here are peaceboy's answers to 20 Questions!

Well can I first say it’s an honour. This is the highlight of my week. Mind you saying as the rest of the week consisted of being in hospital, on planes or hungover – it’s competition isn't very strong!

    1. Where do you live? (Town and Country)
Complicated straight off the bat! Originally from North Shields (Newcastle area-ish) but have a house and a Norwegian wife in Oslo, Norway. Currently based out in Islamabad, Pakistan for work (see below) (having recently moved from the middle east).

    2. What do you do for a living?
I work for the UN specifically the World Health Organization on polio eradication. Its sounds interesting, but my day mainly consists of filling out reports, and shouting at stupid admin staff – when I do get to the field, I shit myself that im about to be kidnapped or shot and hide in the car….
Sometimes I don’t think im cut out for this line of work.

    3. What football teams do you support?
Newcastle, through and through. I was a Geordie child hitting my teens in the mid-90s, it was a glorious time.

    4. Can you remember the first team that you managed in CM01/02? How did you get on?
I would have to guess at Newcastle, but I can’t actually remember. Though I honestly have not been successful with Newcastle on either the ODB or updates, so I may have only lasted ½ a season. The first team I CAN remember was Fulham. Spent about 5-10 seasons being promoted and relegated to/from the premiership, no success – nothing. Just kept on going, don’t know why.

    5. Who is your all time favourite CM01/02 player (any update or patch) and favourite in real life?
Mike Duff by a country mile. Doesn’t matter if I was champions league contenders or conference relegation fodder – if I could get him (and 90% of the time I could) I’d not even look at another DR/DMR for 10-12 seasons. Mark Kerr, (a distant) second. But he was more picky.
In real life; Gazza, Beardo, Shearer (before he opened his mouth as a pundit) with wor bobby as manager. A none Geordie would have to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. What a little crackerjack he was. I was gutted he turned out to be a shit manager.

    6. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement in CM01/02?
Getting Norwegian 2nd Division team HamKam (my wife’s hometown club) to the quarter finals of the Champions League, nearly semis but conceded late on. I was 25 seasons in and the fecking thing crashed on me. I still have the data on my computer (its been a while) and once in a while I try to run it, but it crashes. One day, hopefully. One day.
I also always add the Norwegian league to any new game, so I can ‘retire’ as HamKam manager (ie when I’ve completed whatever challenge I wanted to do id put myself as manager of HamKam and see what I can do with them) problem is on the update there not on the database, so I have to wait until they are promoted to it (which they sometimes are) and then hope that their manager is sacked (which, to date has not happened). Talk about boring eh?

    7. If you were an animal, which one would describe you best?
A big lumbering giraffe. Not a graceful one, one that when you look at it, you are absolutely amazed it survived childhood.

    8. On an average week, how much time do you invest in CM01/02?
Differs. Sometimes not much, sometimes I play every hour in the day (including at work), which can lead to some nervy times when my office door opens. I honestly think they think im looking at porn. They’d probably understand that better!

    9. What does your wife/girlfriend/partner think of you playing a 13 year old football game?
Like most Scandinavians she doesn’t care about anything I say or do (unless I call the winter Olympics 'winter Olympics' because it’s the just the 'Olympics' and the Olympics is the 'Summer Olympics'. Yeah right)! She actually doesn’t mind, though I can bore her with my technical talk. She also likes it when I sign Petter Vaagan Moen (on the ODB) because she went to school with him.

    10. What other computer/console games do you play?
None. Just champ. I really want to get a console but I worry I may lose my job and my wife.

    11. What annoys you most about CM01/02?
Why am I so shit! Why does everyone claim this game is easy, but its not – its really really not! I’ve been playing it for 14 years and still haven’t mastered it. It makes me want to cry…
Oh and work permits. Theyre a bit silly. Hes got 1495454 caps, is captain for his country and is only 23, why has he been rejected?!?!

    12. What is your favourite moment in real life football?
Toon v ManU, October 1996. Can still hearing Martin Tyler… “Phillipe Albeeeeertttt, oh absolutely glorious!” And it was.

    13. If you were the president of FIFA, what rule would you change to make football more interesting?
The thing that irks me so much is the backchat to Refs. Drives me up the wall. It wouldn’t take long to enforce a couple of red cards for players swearing and moaning which will soon shut them up.
…Rooney, I'm mainly talking about Rooney here. He is a whinging, moaning, pissing, wanker.

    14. How good a player were you in real life? What position did you play?
Absolutely terrible. Built like a clumsy giraffe and played like one. Never got into any teams, couldn’t play for toffee.

    15. What other sports do you follow?
Rugby Union was/is my main sport of choice. Built like a clumsy giraffe and played like one! In a good way! But I love all sports. Rugby, Football, Cricket and Athletics especially, but everything from lawn bowls to boxing. However, the 2 I cannot stand watching are tennis (though I love to play) and this UFC shite. I can’t see how punching an unconscious man in the head 10 times while sitting on him can be classed as sport.

    16. If you won the Lottery (say £4,000,000) what is the first thing you would buy?
A house with my own mancave including; projector, games console, pool table, poker table, dart board, jukebox and bar. You would never see me.
Suppose id give some to charity… not much, but enough to clear my conscience.

    17. What 4 people from history would you most like to meet?
Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin and Mao Zedong. I’d feel like im doing alright with life and im not a bad person after all.

    18. What keeps you awake at night?
The voices, why wont they shut up. Be quiet be QUIET!
Turns out those voices are my wife’s and shes waking me up to say she can’t sleep coz im snoring so loud. So now were BOTH awake… thanks for that.

    19. What was the last song played on your iPod (both the one you were going so say to sound cool and the one it really was)?
In all honesty it was – Gregory Alan Isakov – Black Car. Check it out its quite cool (check his rest out too!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pak0LEhFyAY. Im more of a heavy rock, punk fan - but I like my relax, chilled out too.

    20. Who would you like to be interviewed next?
No idea. Are there any women on here? I want to hear from a woman! Failing that, a complete newbie. Introduce them to the family.

The only woman I know of (Rapinoe) has already answered. The nomination goes to LeVoyeur, who's made quite an impression since joining the site.

    Funny read

    The porn joke

Sounds like you're a very busy man! Out and about plenty!

I used to love Philippe Albert While Stoke were languishing in the 2nd Div, I used to adopt Newcastle as my 2nd team for someone to root for in the Premiership.

Twenty Questions (Episode 60 - felixsjo)

So I'm stepping in here as a sub as LeVoyeur was unable to find the time to do this at the moment. Fun!

    1. Where do you live? (Town and Country)
Uppsala, Sweden. I’m originally from a small town outside Gothenburg but I moved here to study in 2013.

    2. What do you do for a living?
i’m a law student and live on the money I get for that. It’s currently about £ 810 a month, of which £ 580 is a loan and £ 230 is an allowance! Livin’ la vida loca!

    3. What football teams do you support?
My favorite Swedish team is Djurgårdens IF. Also I like Milan and Manchester United as they were the best when I started liking football for real, you can’t blame a lad for choosing the best teams when he’s like 7 years old. Then as I build up a hatred for Barcelona, I started to like Real Madrid some years ago. That liking has now become kinda serious.

    4. Can you remember the first team that you managed in CM01/02? How did you get on?
Probably Djurgården, this was a year or something after the game was released and I got really disappointed when Kim Källström was in BK Häcken and not in Djurgården (he joined them in 2002), so I probably gave it up after less than a season. I have managed Roma far more than any other team though. Sometimes when me and my brother play football we simulate that it’s an ongoing game between Roma and Leeds (his favorite CM team) with all those old players; Batistuta, Candela, Delvecchio, Kewell, Viduka Bowyer… It always ends up a tie so we have to decide it on penalties, I feel like I let my old boys down every time I lose.

    5. Who is your all time favourite CM01/02 player (any update or patch) and favourite in real life?
In real life it’s easily Filippo Inzaghi. A bit like Berbatov in the way he someimtes look uninterested in the game and he’s not a hard worker, not that quick, not a skilled dribbler… not really good at anything except scoring goals. Can’t recall seeing him score one single goal from outside the box. Also, I absolutely love the fact that he always celebrated like he just scored the world cup winner even if it was the 4-1 goal against Brescia in the 87’th minute. If the ball’s in, it’s time for celebrating no matter what!

On CM it’s probably Tsigalko. No other player has given me so much joy.

    6. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement in CM01/02?
To be honest, when I played it in my early days my patience were rarely longer than like 7-8 seasons (when I had to replace Emerson, Totti, Montella and that gang, this was long before the discovery of gpf and such things) and I also used to restart the game if I lost big games… But I remember once winning the UEFA cup with Sparta Moscow the first season after a 1-0 win over Real Madrid during my first season, no wibwob or anything, just the plain 4312. Didn’t know how to take it form there though so I probably deleted the save after 3 seasons or something. Nowadays I mostly play as Real Madrid and try to build an empire playing with tactics someone on this forum made, I don’t consider that achievements but just playing for fun.

    7. If you were an animal, which one would describe you best?

A sheep. Don’t usually try very much new stuff if I’m not forced to, and prefer to have a shepherd telling me what to do, how to do it, where to go etc. I have had a lot of conversations with one of my best friends about just this, I’m ridiculously bad at cooking (got like 5 dishes that I differ between. Oh student life, why are you such a cliche?) and he constantly tells me to expand my horizons. Then I go shopping and maybe (usually not) buy something I haven’t cooked before, then it just lays in my freezer for months because I don’t know how to cook it and won’t make the effort to look it up. Besides, I’m always just afraid to fuck up. This weekend I was about to make scrambled eggs for the very first time, but forgot to buy eggs today...

    8. On an average week, how much time do you invest in CM01/02?
Seems like almost everyone answers "not much at all" on this one, doesn't it? It's hard to say, but maybe 10 hours. Can go months without playing as well as I can play a lot for a short period (i.e this summer). Also I always play it windowed and do other stuff at the same time so the time count in the game isn’t fair. I’m a good roll with my current Real Madrid save though.

    9. What does your wife/girlfriend/partner think of you playing a 13 year old football game?
I don’t have one, and if I did I think she wouldn’t… wait a minute.

    10. What other computer/console games do you play?
I play some Fifa and GTA V on my PS4, but that was some time ago now. On my computer I only play CM. Oh, and Clicker heroes.

    11. What annoys you most about CM01/02?
I haven’t really been digging deep or understanding more than the very surface of this game before joining this forum. The work permit thing in England have always pissed me off though, and it has been a long time since I managed an English side because of that. Also when I try really hard to buy a player but get rejected all the time and FINALLY manage to seal a deal just to get it stopped by the board as they think it’s ”unrealistic”. And when I transfer list a player and 10 clubs are interested but then no one bids for him. So really just small things that don’t bother me too much.

    12. What is your favourite moment in real life football?
This may sound really silly but as far as I can remember I’ve been like really, really, happy after a football result twice. The first time was when Djurgården won the Swedish premiership back in 2003. That is probably one of the best Swedish teams in our time. The second time was when Chelsea knocked out Barcelona from CL in 2012 after being completely outplayed for two games. When Torres run solo around Valdes and placed the ball in the back of the net… I seriously can’t remember being that happy any single time over the last years, and that coming from a Man United fan!

    13. If you were the president of FIFA, what rule would you change to make football more interesting?
I would do something about the money. A maximum price for game tickets and wages. The more you think of how much the best players earn, the more silly it gets, seen in a bigger perspective. Guardiolas new £20m/year deal just makes me sick. I can’t get how a person can earn that much and feel good about it.

And I would give WC 2022 to another country of course.

    14. How good a player were you in real life? What position did you play?
I played as a left defender, and wasn’t very good at all. Quit when I was 14-15 probably to my coach’s relief. I can only remember scoring one goal, that was when we won 5-0 or something against a team we always beat. I was down the corner flag and tried to cross the ball but it went in, all my teammates got really happy for me and afterwards the coach said that ”even Felix scored today, we sure was on our best game!”.

    15. What other sports do you follow?
I’m a huge fan of cross country skiing and follow it as much as I can. I’m worthless in skiing myself but watch all the world cup competitions! I have many old races on a hard drive and some of them I have watched more times than I can count, like the men’s relay in the 2010 olympics. I know exactly when the French guy are going to fall on the first leg, when the norwegian guy will lose contact with the leading group on leg 2, when Marcus Hellner is going to make his decisive move on the final leg… Still love it every time. Then I enjoy watching some other sports like tennis, cycling and handball but I hardly ever plan to watch it.

    16. If you won the Lottery (say £4,000,000) what is the first thing you would buy?
I have some things that I do want to buy, and the first ones would probably be the ones that are easiest, like some new clothes. Then I would go on a trip to someplace cool and stuff most of the money in the bank for now. Also I’d buy a place of my own (currently I live in a student corridor).

    17. What 4 people from history would you most like to meet?
Michael Jackson, because he was a big idol if mine when I was younger. I still like many of his songs but I’m not a fan, one of the most interesting personalities in our time though.
Eva Braun, imagine what stories she might have to tell, if only she would.
Ronald Reagan, he seemed like a really funny politician sometimes, and would also have great stories to tell.
Fredrik Wikingsson, a swedish tv host. Few people have affected me so much in growing up and developing a personality.

    18. What keeps you awake at night?
Unrequited love. And pressure from school.

    19. What was the last song played on your iPod (both the one you were going so say to sound cool and the one it really was)?
Cat Stevens - If you want to sing out, sing out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDq36YD1ESM)
Florence and the machine - Shake it out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbN0nX61rIs)

Figure for yourself which one’s which.

    20. Who would you like to be interviewed next?
I want to pass this on to what seems to be a swedish pal, Zeppelinaren. I still want to express that I think Levoyeur should do this in the future, though.

Mark, for how long will I be a newbie? I start to feel settled in already and at least now some of you lot know something about me!

Thing is also, I watched the game myself lying on my bed with the computer. I lived at my mom's and had to keep a white low volume on the sound as it was quite late on the night. My brother had his room upstairs and was probably asleep so I had no one to share this moment with. I got ecstatic and seriously didn't know how to express my feelings. Metting my Barca fan friend the next day was a good one.

Also will you change the topic name, Bob? Sure doing the 20 questions was on my bucket list but it'll feel good to have had my name in the title also.
