Q1 - What place do you call home and where is your spiritual home?
Brazil my home, Italy my spiritual home because my family is from there and my second nationality.

Q2 - What CM superstar would you like to see play for your IRL club and why?

Mario Jardel (he is one of the best strikers in odb, plays in Sporting (Portugal) in odb), because he actually played in my real life club in brazil and was the best header I have ever seen IRL, but then he moved to Portugal and since then I miss an striker like that in my club.

    Q3 - Favourite drink?
    Yet another water drinker.

Q4 - What do you do for a living and why?
    Programming, because i enjoy it.

Q5 - Who's your favourite Viper? Please explain your choice?
    Sorry, not following that currently.

Q6 - Who would you like to see in the Forum Hall of Fame?
saturn, i didn't see him in the hall of fame, and as a programmer I can say that modifiying the assembly code of an exe is... well no words for that... simply unbelievable the work he does on the patches.

    Q7 - Any other hobbies?
Nerdy things, and watching formula 1.

Q8 - Best thing about the forum?
Everything is great here, every thread, post and member are important for me, but what I like most are the posts related to techinical stuff like experiments with the game and resources/tips for programmers like the offsets thread and similars, I learn a lot from them.

Q9 - What do you eat the most? Favourite food?
Favourite food: I dont care about the taste, for me the more nutritive the best, sardines for example is perhaps my favourite currently.
Eat the most: pasta, rice and bean, because quick and cheap, but unfortunatelly dont have many nutrients...

    Q10 - Who's your favorite babe m/f? pic please?
Real girls, not those from TV who are all made of plastic/rubber.
    Spoiler!

Q11 - Post a pic of your favorite football shirt?

Q12 - How would your friends describe you?
Calm, weird. Thats how they describe me.

Q13 - What position do you look to strengthen first in-game?
    It depends on the situation.

Q14 - Where do you go to on vacation?
Beach. Coincidently my vacation starts next week, so pretty excited about that.

Q15 - What's your most loved movie/tv series and who's your fave character in it?
Any sci-fi (like Matrix or Interstellar). Or any old comedy/funny (from 1900 to 1980, but you can include Mr. Bean there as he is very funny too), the other modern ones don't make me laugh.

    Q16 - Menubars – do you bother?
    No.

Q17 - Any changes you want to see made to CM0102?

Yes, so many changes that I can't list them here. Specially, I dream that the original developers gave us the full source code of the game for us to easily make any changes we want.

Q18 - What team do you hate with a passion and why them?

No team. Even the rivals of my team, i like them exist so there's some nice competition.

Q19 - Compare yourself to a real life footballer.
If I were a professional player I would be a CA1/PA1 version of Messi, because I try to play with the same style as him (dribbling objectivelly, creative passing, etc), but of course i just try...

Q20 - Who would you like to see answering questions next and have you got a special Q for them?
Kenny Smile, Ill send him PM. The question to him is: As of 2019, which 11 real life players would form your dream team in real life football?

Q21 - Asked question from jacob:

Its a great game, I cant understand how this simple and text based game can be so fun to play. And as a programmer nerd i like the fact that I can make experiments with it, struggle with changing the exe, create tools to make it better, I think thats why it attracted so many programmers to the forum over the time. Thats what brought me to the game, plus the fact that I had a difficult 2017 and this game helped me to forget the problems.

Q1 - What place do you call home and where is your spiritual home?

I live in Copenhagen, Denmark, and that is most definitely home. Originally I’m from Liverpool, and I still feel a strong sense of attachment to that place, enough so to call it my spiritual home. Growing up in the 80’s instilled in me a strong anger at the so-called ‘managed decline’ of the northern cities - for which I have never forgiven the Tories - and was a major factor in why I always felt that I would end up living outside the UK. I’ve also been lucky enough to live in Cologne, Seattle and the Canary Islands and all of those have a small claim to spiritual home status as well.

Q2 - What CM superstar would you like to see play for your IRL club and why?

I will go for 3.9.68 DB and Harry Kewell who of course did end up playing for Liverpool. When he was breaking through at Leeds he reminded me so much of the late 80’s Johnny Barnes and I really wanted to see him in red. His time at Liverpool is often seen as a failure, and it is true that injuries had already prevented him from realising his full potential, but he was such an intelligent footballer, and there is a reason why Rafa Benitez got him on the pitch whenever he could. His performance against Chelsea in the 05-06 FA Cup semi final is one of the great overlooked Liverpool performances IMO, he was unbelievably good that day.

    Q3 - Favourite drink?

    Context dependant:
    Just woke up: coffee
    Daytime: water
Eating a fine steak: a fine red wine
Evening out: too many high quality craft beer bars in Copenhagen to ignore

Q4 - What do you do for a living and why?

I am one of three owners of a tech start-up which has developed a software engine which automatically builds process simulations for manufacturing companies. The company was spun out as the result of a research project I made with some German universities around 5 years back.

Q5 - Who's your favourite Viper? Please explain your choice?

No idea! I don’t tend to follow those threads where ‘forumites’ are put in the game.

Q6 - Who would you like to see in the Forum Hall of Fame?

As a die-hard socialist Halls of Fame are anathema to me

    Q7 - Any other hobbies?

Cycling would be the main one. I also enjoy taking the kids on fossil hunting trips although Denmark is not the best place for that.

Q8 - Best thing about the forum?

The people, obviously. In general folks come across as tolerant and positive to each other. I do try to avoid the ‘bantz’, though, life is too short and ‘bantz’ is well Southerner behaviour

Q9 - What do you eat the most? Favourite food?

I eat a lot of vegetarian food, to be honest. I also enjoy simple foods like pasta with chili and lime, or maybe a soup of parsnips and ginger, that kind of stuff. Having said that, I reckon a well done steak tartare is hard to beat.

    Q10 - Who's your favorite babe m/f? pic please?

My wife. Seriously I’ll agree with MadScientist, the real ones are the best, and the smarter and funnier the better.

Q11 - Post a pic of your favorite football shirt?

I don’t have one stand out favourite, so I offer a choice of three:

Classic St-Etienne long sleeve. Could have picked several but this early 80’s ‘Super Tele’ is up there:

Love all the Holland shirts but this Adidas pinstrip is a corker!

Finally, any shirt with Kenny Dalglish in it Let’s take this Crown Paints Adidas shirt, approximately two seconds after he scored the winning goal away at Chelsea to seal the league title in his first season as player-manager.

Q12 - How would your friends describe you?

    Worth persevering with!

Q13 - What position do you look to strengthen first in-game?

Fullback and then go and sign Marcin Kaczmarek on a free!

Depending on the starting squad I always like to get either a goalscorer or a good keeper in early. Otherwise I try to evaluate the players I have and maybe delay signings until the second summer. I like a good winger, and I don’t tend to play with a DMC.

Q14 - Where do you go to on vacation?

Denmark and Italy. Denmark has hundreds of beautiful beaches and good weather most summers. I love the Amalfi coast as well. Definitely sea rather than city for me.

Q15 - What's your most loved movie/tv series and who's your fave character in it?

I hardly ever have the time to watch TV or movies to be honest so I am hardly an authority on it, but when I was a kid I was all about ‘Battle of the Planets’, a US remake of the awesomely named Japanese series ‘Science Ninja Team Gatchaman’! Favourite character = Jason. For adult TV seems to me that The Wire and Sopranos are embarrassingly better than anything else. I also love a good Attenborough documentary, especially about the oceans.

    Q16 - Menubars – do you bother?

    Nope.

Q17 - Any changes you want to see made to CM0102?

    Two things:
    • More and better stats. It is impossible in the 0102 engine to build a possession-dominant team (or vice versa) and I would love some of the stats we have become used be able to access in different media. I know you can get those details in modern FM titles but man, the rest of the gameplay sucks!
    • Goals from overhead kicks.

Q18 - What team do you hate with a passion and why them?

I don’t hate any teams and have a secret affection for Everton, although a win in the Merseyside derby - if possible with an outrageously late goal (Gary Mac, Sadio Mane, Divock…) or some other contentious decision like that time Westerveld kicked the ball into Don Hutchison, it was going in and Graham Poll blew the whistle for full time - is my favourite result possible in football

    "Mané's scoring.
    All around us.
    Kopites singing.
    Having fun.
    'Tis the season.
    Love and understanding.
    Merry Christmas Everton!"

I don’t have a lot of time for the likes of Manchester City or Paris SG in their current incarnations, though.

Q19 - Compare yourself to a real life footballer.

Heh. When I was at school I played a few positions - centre mid, centre back, and left back - and although I’m naturally right footed I trained my left up to a very decent standard. I used to really love watching Ronald Koeman so I also practiced freekicks for hours and could take them with either foot. So a really really bad Ronald Koeman is my answer!

These days I tend to just go in goal

Q20 - Who would you like to see answering questions next and have you got a special Q for them?

I would like to invite The Porridge Flo, who has been writing such brilliant updates in the ‘How Are You Doing’ thread. Ilias Maas is one of my favourite all time players now and he’s not even real! My question would be ‘Tell us the story of one of your team’s most important results - good or bad, recent or historical’.

Q21 - Asked question from MadScientist: As of 2019, which 11 real life players would form your dream team in real life football?

Alright so this is current players then? To be honest you would be better off asking my kids as they consume way more football than I do, but I will have a go with a pretty transparent Liverpool bias as I watch them more than anyone else…

    I’ll lineup in a 433 shape:

    GK: Alisson: He’s just brilliant.
    --
DL: Andy Robbo: What? He’s boss as well.
    DC’s: Van Dyke and Koulibaly.
DR: honestly, are there any good right backs out there? I’m calling Javier Zanetti up, he is still probably amazing.
    --
A midfield of Thiago from Bayern, Big Kev De Bruyne and Saul Niguez from Atletico. I know, no Modric might be considered heresy, and Kante is a fabulous player but I can’t pick a pure destroyer in my 11.
    --
In attack it is Messi (GOAT IMO) and two other guys… I’ll go for Mo Salah and probably Griezmann for the last spot, although it feels harsh to leave out Suarez who in 2013-14 was genuinely the best player I Have ever seen at Liverpool, and I have seen some very very good ones.

Here’s my bonus all-time 11 who I can claim to have seen play either in the flesh or on the tele… we are playing a 4 - something formation:

Big Nev Southall - Maldini, Koeman, Hansen, Cafu - Gascoigne, Zico, Socrates - Dalglish, Maradona, Romario. What a team!

    Cheers all!

I'm in the same boat! When I started playing I was an incredibly average player so forced myself to become either-footed, suddenly I was useful!

Overheads, I said And they are in the game, but I'm convinced that there is a bug that they can never go in the net.

In 00/01, by contrast, they basically always went in. I liked that better!

    Harry Kewell!

Isaac Butterfield (Australian comedian I enjoy listening to during morning commute) wouldn't like you because you're a cyclist and a vegetarian but that's cos cyclists round here lack intelligence, which I'm sure is not the case with you given you like Haz Kewell!

    Good answers!

Could we add this Q in?

What brought you to the website?

Nice one. Ive thought about moving to Copenhagen. Two and a half years in norway now, and I'm missing the city, definitely on the list of potential places to move to.
Need to sort myself out with a job first!
How is your Danish, obviously its similar to Norwegian, but the dialect is very difficult. I don't envy you having to learn that!

If you already speak Norwegian, moving to Danish is easy enough. Just shove a potato halfway down your throat and you're ready to go!

Not sure this fella would get on well with Copenhagen

It's decent, you definitely get used to the accent. You don't need to know Danish to get along here, though.

If you do try to find work here make sure that any offer includes help to find accommodation. It is tough to find a place to live in any reasonable distance to the city centre.

Thank you for the nomination Kenny - btw. Copenhagen... what a great place you call your home right now; such a positive vibe there.

Q1 - What place do you call home and where is your spiritual home?

Home is in Naas right now, a small town on the outskirts of Dublin; living in Ireland for 8 years - time's flying! Spiritual home is the ferry port of my home town Rostock on the Baltic coast. Great childhood memories of watching the big ferries leaving for their journeys, as a sense of adventure lies in the air.

Q2 - What CM superstar would you like to see play for your IRL club and why?

Roberto Baggio - a magician who stands for the beauty of the game like no other. Football died a little bit with his retirement in 2004. Having his experience and creativity in the middle of the park in what will be a pretty young and inexperienced Bohemians side this year, would instantly push all my relegation fears away. Baggio would, of course, also greatly help my boyhood club, Hansa Rostock, who's stuck in the 3rd division for quite some time now. But I've given up hope as whoever is managing the club right now would likely find a way to mess it up and play Baggio as a DC - so he'd have a bigger impact at Bohs!

    Q3 - Favourite drink?

I love coffee. Like for the taste, even! I do take some time to prepare a proper cup for myself on the weekend, and it's a real joy doing that first thing on a Saturday morning. Coffe black and pure, that is.

Q4 - What do you do for a living and why?

Managing a team of Customer Success Managers at the company that gave us the joy of "Photoshoping". We work on the Digital Marketing side, though, ensuring companies that have purchased Adobe's marketing tools realize the value of their investment and are happy to renew their contract when it's time for it.

Q5 - Who's your favourite Viper? Please explain your choice?

I'm sorry, not following it, I'm afraid.

Q6 - Who would you like to see in the Forum Hall of Fame?

Gfray. Love his contribution to the forum in general, but even more so on tactics and how to play the game in particular - really insightful, I learned/learning a lot from his posts. Saturn for his immense work with the patches is essential to keep the game alive, also.

    Q7 - Any other hobbies?

Season ticket holder at Bohemians. I run and swim a lot. Do a bit of photography. Write about horse racing. Secret love is Aussie Rules Football. Secret, because nobody around me knows or understands it. I also adore newspapers. The real thing. In print. Having worked with some big publishers myself, though, I know the future is bleak for for most of them.

Q8 - Best thing about the forum?

That there is a passionate community that keeps the greatest game alive, still after all those years. The dedication of the people, to produce patches, data updates and discuss in great detail and depth about something that is on the surface nothing more than a glorified excel sheet is truly amazing. I wish I had more time to contribute myself or read more of the great stories people dedicate so mo much passion to.

Q9 - What do you eat the most? Favourite food?

Porridge! They call me the 'Porridge Man' for a reason because I can eat 3x a day, 7 days a week, hot or cold. I even mix my scrambled eggs with oats. Other than that: a really nice, dark, wholemeal bred. Something you have to search long and hard for in Ireland. Hence I don't eat bread day to day here, so it's even more enjoyable when back home. Pasta - I love everything pasta. Because I could eat a full 500g pack in one sitting, I try to have it only once a week on the weekend.

    Q10 - Who's your favorite babe m/f? pic please?

Probably shows I'm not getting any younger, but as a horny teenager I was mad for Anna Kournikova.

    Spoiler!

Q11 - Post a pic of your favorite football shirt?

I love Brescia's home and away jersey with the chevron in general. But the 2003/4 away one is my favourite. This clear white, the blue chevron, the golden writing of the sponsor.... and the last jersey Baggio ever wore. It's perfect!

No 'football' but a footy shirt from AFL side Sydney Swans, last season's Indigenous Round guernsey, is one that stands out from the crowd:

Q12 - How would your friends describe you?

Energetic, "always so positive" but also drunk without having a drink.

Q13 - What position do you look to strengthen first in-game?

Unlike Kenny, I rarely play without a DMC. It's the key position in nearly all my tactics, so it's the one position I don't compromise on. You got to be strong, good at Positioning, and better can jump and tackle.

Q14 - Where do you go to on vacation?

I'm grateful for having ample opportunity to travel the world thanks to my job. So wherever I go next for business I try add a little vacation on top of it. Preferably somewhere warm and sunny. I love the Canaries: running up a mountain before breakfast, heading for a dip in the Ocean afterwards and then roasting on the beach the rest of the day - perfect!

Q15 - What's your most loved movie/tv series and who's your fave character in it?

There is an English football movie, I watch it whenever I feel downbeat: Purely Belter - highly recommended. Favourite TV series is Malcolm in the Middle. Funny on the surface, yet rather sad and incredibly deep beneath the surface. Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom" is another production that gripped me. The opening scene is still one of the best bits of television ever - seven years later, as relevant as ever.

    Q16 - Menubars – do you bother?

Not really. I always use the Champman official menubar.

Q17 - Any changes you want to see made to CM0102?

I'd love a match engine that combines the text modus that I'm a big fan of, witch the 2D game engine, like in CM 03/4. Maybe a bit more impactful interaction with players. Otherwise, game is close perfect as it is with the patches available here.

Q18 - What team do you hate with a passion and why them?

I've not much time for hate in life, but I do despite Shamrock Rovers - some may want to address them properly as "Scum" - with a passion. I know behind those faces are supposedly half-decent humans as well. But they clearly have taken a wrong turn in life at some stage.

Q19 - Compare yourself to a real life footballer.

As a kid I loved PSG keeper Bernard Lama. He was the reason why I became a keeper and wore the tightest of long pants in a bid to look as much as possible like him - which is difficult as a short, white kid. As I've always been the smallest in the class or wherever else i went, my career in goal was short lived. Subsequently I attempted to "kick it like Baggio". Truth is, while my brain clearly has his vision, the execution is an entirely different topic. So means I'm happy to play wherever the coach feels he needs me - bar goal and centre-back (I'm simply not tall enough to win a header!). During my career in the lowest division of German football I appeared from right-back to lone striker pretty much anywhere, indeed. My sole purpose usually was to do one thing: destroy. Team mates gave me a flattering nick game: the butcher.

Q20 - Who would you like to see answering questions next and have you got a special Q for them?

Avid CM0 00/01 player Vèrkûh - if you could be reborn at any time, anywhere as anything: what would you be reborn as, where, when and why?

Q21 - Asked question from Kenny Dalglish's Smile: ‘Tell us the story of one of your team’s most important results - good or bad, recent or historical’.

Not sure if the question is CM related or real-life, but the one game that continues to play out in my mind is last seasons Irish Cup semi-final - Bohs vs. Cork. Everyone who holds the club dear to his or her heart was waiting for this night for such a long time, after years of misery, on the bring of bankruptcy and fighting the drop from the Premier Division. As Bohs played a sensational second half of the year, we came into the semi-final with title holders Cork in incredible form - believe we won the last eight or nine games.

Sold out Dalymount Park on the night, incredible atmosphere, flares, singing, jumping.... and the boys on the pitch threw themselves into every tackle. A magic night that got better and better culminating in orgasm like feelings when Dinny Corocroan scored with 20min left. There were people everywhere, on top of each other.... surreal!

You know football is all about hope, particularly if you support clubs in dire times. This seemed the moment hope finally turned to reality. The big day out in the Aviva.... the Cup Final. I imagined myself already there at that moment, in honesty.

Until the 87th minute. A mistimed header from one of our defenders followed by an overly eager challenge from young Leahy - penalty for Cork! The replay clearly showed Leahy played the ball. Like it can't be any clearer. And the assistant needs to see that. But he doesn't. Instead the equalizer. Replay a week later. Of course still everything possible. But I think everyone felt THIS was the night where it got away. And so it was, in the end. That hurt. Still does.

Mate, I’m the same. I actually bought scales for the sole purpose of ensuring I have “normal person” portions of pasta/rice.
