It took some tweaking, but I finally settled on a decent tactic. We're not scoring much, but on the other hand we're seeing a lot of clean sheets.

    Spoiler!

    Closing stage, here we go!

Gutted about last game - what the heck happened in closing stage?!
I don't really know... a couple of things, I supose... got 2 o 3 early red cards and a pair of superkeepers, also my GK performed worse than in opening. Tried some minors changes to the tactic and they didn't work, but I didn't know really what to change

Well done JLa - looks like the defence couldn't hold out for closing stage though

Yeah, I don't know what happened. Picking up a lot of injuries didn't help either.

Pleased to see people enjoying this and not finding it too easy. AJ

May be time for me to throw my hat in the ring. I'm going to make a start, but it might take me a while to get through it

Might need to rethink this tactically. I'm not sure these guys are upto a 3 man back line

What is strange is to see Brian Fernandez as the second top scorer, when we have scored the fewest in the whole league (He would have been top scorer if Chavez hadn't got a hat-trick in the final game)

Change of formation and a change of fortune .... dramaticaly.

For the opening period I used a 3-1-4-1-1 and was 15th. For the closing period I went for a 4-5-1 and only went and bloody won the damn thing !

The deciding, penultimate game v Boca, was the sort of deciding game that dreams are made of

Also, credit deserved by Brian Fernandez who ended up as the leagues leading scorer

Full results and scores will be posted when I get a chance. This was great fun - so many injuries it makes your eyes water - so many crap players playing out of position. Nice quick season, only 38 games, so no excuses for not doing this.

I wanted to try this challenge with my usual "I need passing"...especially because this squad have only 1 striker...

That's amazing giopos. "I need passing" is probably one of the best tactics ever made for this game, and this proves it. I've studied it and I don't understand why it's so good as it is, but I guess you got the balance between offence and defense just right!

Why do you say that passing is the most important thing with this tactic? And why is this more important with this tactic compared to other tactics?

    Thanks AtomicAnt...

I don't know why "passing" is the main attribute for this tactic...but when I created it and tested with many teams...I realized that a powerful "passing team" was the key to win...but it was a random discovery...

Rather I say to you an other thing...try to make a change...only for defenders choose players with best "positioning" instead best "passing"...it should be a great improvement...

Funny little challenge this. Finished it almost a month ago, so I can't remember a lot of details.

    League standing:

    Transf:

    Results (clean sheets only):

    Goals scored: 62
    Goals against: -44
    Clean sheets: 55
    Opening stage winner: 0
    Closing stage winner: 0
    3rd place: 1800
    Final score: 1873

    Tactic used:

I realized after I created it that the general layout looks similar to iondineCF, but it's not it. I've since refined it slightly, and I think it's one of the best tactic I have ever made. It concedes less goals than iondine but also does not score as much, at least it's the impression I have. When I created it I stole a few WOBs from the Norge tactic, one of the best defencive tactics made for this game. With a good goalie it's airtight. Only conceded seven league goals in holiday mode with Juventus (first season). In the long run the average would be around 2.5 goals scored per game, 0.3-0.5 conceded. Screen at the beginning of 2nd season with Juve (no holiday):

    Tac can be found here:

This is quite unbelivable...I lost over 300 points...just how?

    Absolutely unbelievable... Oh my god

    OPENING STAGE

In Opening stage, Independiente was owning, with 10 wins in 11 game, then they started to struggle, but still had 7 points over me before last 3 rounds of the stage for me, and 2 for them.

Then I play them, and I win 5-1, so I get to 4 points...I still have 2 matches, they have 1...

So I win my match, they end up drawing...so Im now 2 points behind, they finished their 19 rounds, while Im playing river away, postponed match.

I end up drawing it 1-1, even though I was better side and I lose Opening stage by 1 point...(previous post)

    CLOSING STAGE

I start really unconsistent, in 13 round, I have 6-6-1, and Im far behind racing in closing stage rankings, also 4-5 points behind independiente on league table.

But they both start to struggle as we were entering last stages of the season.

Then amazing happens...in last round I enter completely tied with Racing and Indepediente on Closing stage table.
While beeing 1 point behind Indepediente on league table.

Closing Stage - 1 round to go

    37 - Indepdiente
    37 - ME
    37 - Racing

    League Table

    80 - Indepdiente
    79 - ME
    70 (around)- Racing

    Last round match

    ME vs. Indepediente,..

    Here is how it finished...

    my tactics - http://prntscr.com/7ze822

    1900 - 2nd Place
    ...65 - 13 Clean Sheets
    ...42 - goal difference

    2007 - Total Points - Damn, I lost 300 points on 1 point...this is definetly not justice

    This is my challenge result:

    League Position - 1th - 2,000 points
Every goal you score - 71 goals = 71 point
    Every goal against - 34 =-34 point
    Every clean sheet - 21 games *5 = 105points
Opening stage winner = 100 points
Closing stage winner = 100 points

    Total = 2,342 points

    Tactic: 451

    Opening Stage:

    Closing Stage:
