Challenge 31 - Defense and Justice

Challenge 31 - Defense and Justice

This challenge is brought to you by your friendly neighbourhood Eejit

Your mission in this challenge is to take over Argentine Premier Division club Defensa y Justica and lead them to glory in one season. Be warned though, their squad is slightly unbalanced… but you’ll have to live with that

    Database:

    October 2014

    Tactic restrictions:

You must create your own tactic for this challenge. You are free to use any formation you like as long as there are 2 wide players somewhere on the field (DL/DR, DML/DMR, ML/MR, AML/AMR, etc…) Wib/wob is allowed

    Transfers/Loans:

No transfers or loans are allowed. You HAVE to play with the players at the club already. You MAY NOT recall any of your players currently on loan.

    Points:

Every goal you score = 1 point
Every goal against = -1 point
Every clean sheet = 5 points
Opening stage winner = 100 points
Closing stage winner = 100 points

    Final League positions:

    1 - 2000 pts
    2 - 1900 pts
    3 - 1800 pts
    4 - 1700 pts
    5 - 1600 pts
    6 - 1500 pts
    7 - 1400 pts
    8 - 1300 pts
    9 - 1200 pts
    10 - 1100 pts
    11 - 1000 pts
    12 - 900 pts
    13 - 800 pts
    14 - 700 pts
    15 - 600 pts
    16 - 500 pts
    17 - 400 pts
    18 - 300 pts
    19 - 200 pts
    20 - 100 pts

Screenshots are required to prove any of your points plus a screenshot of your tactic.

    Enjoy

    Thoroughly enjoyable challenge gents!

Hell of a random squad to manage!

This is the formation I went for!

Can't say we scored that many but then we didn't have many options! Defence wasn't too bad though

There were lots of niggling injuries and did have 1 major one for 2 months for best defender but apart from that not too bad. Quite a few red cards so suspensions played their part. Seems like no big bans in Argentina then? One of my players punched someone and just the 1 game ban - happy days!

We looked a balance side and that's how it proved in both opening and closing stages - around 8th - and there is where we came overall!

Lost the last game which took us from 7th to 8th

    League Position - 8th - 1,300 points
Every goal you score = 41 point
Every goal against = -35 point
    Every clean sheet = 17*5 = 85points
Opening stage winner = 0 points
Closing stage winner = 0 points

    Total = 1,391

A great short challenge- Argentina is a bonkers league fair play

Might come back to this and try another formation in future - happy with 17 clean sheets but looking at the points it might be worth doing an even more defensive tactic to rack up the points

Cheers and onto the Stevie G challenge!

hmm, is it ok to be using the Tapani patch with this as im guessing that is why i have 7 subs allowed rather than the 5 it seems that Redknapp is allowed?

if it is, im already a few games into this challenge (my first challenge as well)
they really do have a strange squad

well, i finished this, i ended up with only 1195 points though

I may have done better had i A- not had so many injuries, and B- not lost the right winger that was on loan halfway through the season when someone else brought him

I had that stupid winger recalled as well. Ended 7th first half, second in the clausura. Unfortunately I am an ass and threw away my save.

So, I had some time to kill today, as I overslept and couldnt make the game. Gave this one a second try. Was pleased with my first but lost the save.
Had no loans recalled, barely any injuries or bans. And would you believe it?

    scores:
    goals scored: 71
    goals against: 33
    17 clean sheets: 85
    closing stage winner: 100
    final league position:2000

total: 2228 points. Not bad at all!

I've tried to give this a go a few times, but I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea how to make a tactic defensively solid. I wish there was some way of understanding where the goals come from. Reading the match report isn't very helpful. I always end up adjusting my tactics completely random, as I have no idea whether it's the DMC, DL, or MR who messes things up. I get the "push defenders higher up"-part, but everything else...bah.

But, anyway, way to go AJ!

Same for me - I always end up conceding, and I'm playing with 4 defenses and 3 DM

Doing quite bad within 10 games, currently 13th

Started off rubbish 13th in opening stages then changed tactics and was much better winning the closing stages and finishing 5th overall. 13 clean sheets

    My results:
    goals scored: 48
    goals against: 41
    13 clean sheets: 65
    closing stage winner: 100
    final league position 5th : 1600

After playing a little more than half season trying to park the bus (4 def-3DM ) without wib/wob with bad results, I started again and tried wibwobbing... and it went much better!

    Final League Position - 6th

Went from 4th to 6th in the last game, when I lost to Racing . Happy at that position, since all scouting reports were telling me that all the rivals had more than 10 players with 5 stars.

    Opening/Closing Stage

Excellent Opening Stage, where I have been close to the top all the way but never really battling for the title, and mediocre Closing Stage, including 4 loses in a row.

    Tactic

No transfers or loans in, but lost Nery Leyes before the first league game. Anyway, my midfielders performed quite well, so I think I haven't missed him.

And the games list. I've counted the clean sheets to make it easier

    So my points are:
    Final League position - 6th: 1500pts
    Opening/Closing Stage winner: 0 pts
    Goals Scored - 41: 41 pts
    Goals Conceded - 33: -33 pts
    Clean Sheets - 17: 17x5= 85 pts

    Total: 1593 pts

Congratulations to the team who made this challenge, because it has been absolutely thrilling for me. It has been the first time that I've found myself staring anxiously at the screen with 2-0 up in minute 85
