If you had offered us that before the match then we would have taken it

My message to the boys suggested I was feeling the pressure. Don't lose. Keep it simple, do what you do and don't lose. Did I mention that?

So that's what they did. Just.

    Take your chances

It felt like a siege at times but the Angolan team held firm.

    Heroes and Villains

Fernando Browne, fresh from his sending-off in the last match and deputising for the skipper again made a fantastic 5 key tackles.

Nsimba Correia, 23 and still in his first season of professional football, was the MOM.

Jorginho failed to hit the target with any of his three shots (even getting above the 'keeper on one) so near the end of the game just to let him know that I was not happy I hooked him. And Mendonca too. It almost went very horribly wrong. Ghana broke and Zak Ansah received the ball in the box. But it was on his wrong foot. Sometimes you need that bit of luck.

And so after five games this is how it looks

Angola's next match in the group will be against South Africa. Crunch. They will play Guinea for the second time in four months as a warm-up.

    Lessons Learned and Messages Understood

    Jorginho
now has 20 goals in 16 caps but more importantly he showed what he is capable of after disappointing in the last game against Ghana. Angola expects.

    Marvelous Mendonca Unstoppable

Four assists and then a well-deserved rest for the super winger today. Jorginho missed two shots so he played the full 90 mins.

It's All Gone Horribly Wrong for SC Braga

Boavista are down, as are Gil Vicente. The title goes to the wire this year.

The Pathway becomes a lot clearer now

Ghana destroyed South Africa in today's game to move level on points with Angola but have played one game more and also have a worse goal difference. Angola now need to hold their nerve and look for two wins out of three games to be almost certain of a place at next year's World Cup Finals!
