Caught up here as well, nice to see Tamal finally get the star baker award.

I was surprised to see Alvin go a couple of weeks ago. No surprise to see Mat go last week either although he was fun to watch.

Paul is indeed a good bet to leave tonight, a toss up between him and Mat last week and I can't see him improving.

Flora stays coz Hollywood fancies her. Standard!

    Chocolate is the subject tonight.
Think Paul will have a handle on that.

I'm going for Nadiya to go although I think she is very good, she can get flustered.

    It still broke though

Watched it late on last night as well. No surprises to see Flora go out in the end although she did look as though she'd saved herself until the showstopper!

I think Ian will be next to leave, doesn't seem to be able to handle the pressure as much anymore.

It's final next week so no more leavers, just a victor

Yep, Nadiya looks set to win it easily unless Tamal pulls something out of the bag. I just think Ian won't win it as he hasn't been anywhere near as good as he was at the beginning.

Yeah Ian has forgotten the basics and is trying too hard to be fancy and he's not really getting it.

Tamal is just really solid but any flair is his undoing.

Nadiya just needs to bake half decently and she'll win as she'll kill the other 2 with finesse.

Managed to watch it on the night for a change and looks like it could have gone either way after the showstopper. All 3 seemed to make a great cake although I thought Ian's looked the least glamorous.

Thought Tamal may have pulled it out of the bag in the end but he'd let himself down earlier on.

Nadiya is definitely a deserved winner.

Scoring it was nearly a walkover

    Signature:
    1st - Nadiya
    2nd - Ian
    3rd - Tamal

    Technical:
    1st - Nadiya
    2nd - Ian
    3rd - Tamal

    Showstopper:
    1st - Nadiya/Tamal
    3rd - Ian

Tamal might have got the looked better but Nadiya making her own fondant meant even last in technical she might have done enough to win. All 3 were savage cakes for the showstopper. That was good to see since the showstoppers aren't as flashy as the earlier series.

It's the first time I've ever watched it this series so I wasn't sure what happens in the final. Did expect there to be a slightly different format or something so felt surprised that it's just basically the same format as the previous weeks.

    I have never watched it.

And it got turned on for 15 minutes last night by the mrs.

I thought two of them didn't have a clue.
Not sure how they made the final.

But apart from that, it was like an x factor for old women.

Bizarre that it gets so much attention, for what is really, a bunch of amateurs racing against a clock, trying to bake things, that Greggs or Morrisons make 1000's of a day to a higher standard.

And then a few posh people tasting them and talking absolute shite about what they thought about them.

Piss Poor TV in my opinion.

It's the fact they are amateurs and people can relate to the mistakes they make is what makes the show so popular. It's refreshingly simple and uncomplicated it a TV world where crass and gaudiness are the norm. Throw in that the presenting duo's work well, the score matches the pace of the show perfectly, there's no ad's and the setting is basic but elegant, you have the a decent mix for a good show. Not many TV show's aren't ruined these days by 'selling to teenagers' or focusing on upselling (text votes).

I'd have same view of Gogglebox as you would have of Bake Off but each to their own.
