What is this?

It is an inofficial patch, providing tweaks and bugfixes to your CM. Read more about the changes below.


Installation

1. Install CM 01/02.
2. Update it to 3.9.68 using SI games last official patch (you can get that from here).
3. Download patcher-2.21.exe (where you place the patcher does not matter), and then run it

And let the speed be below x5 unless you know what that setting does :-)
If you want another window size than 800x600, read below.


Recommended additional steps

To get the latest players, teams and transfers you can update your game database. The October 2015 data update (latest at the time of writing) can be downloaded from here.

The 2.21 patcher allows you to increase the window size from the old 800x600 to something nicer (1280x800 is recommended).
If you do, you also need a larger background and larger menubars.

Sample files for 1280x800 can be downloaded from here.
Install them by placing the RGN file and the two MBR files inside your Data directory.

There are many background packs available for several resolution here at the Graphics section.


What does this 2.21 patcher do?

It changes many things in the game, mostly bugfixes and other small improvements. An effort has been made to keep the core game unchanged.

The highlight changes of the inofficial patch are:

• Allows to select game start year from 2001-2016, and possibly others.
• Optional coloured attributes (higher values are red). This can be turned off.
• Game speed can be increased (x4 is recommended)
• Allowing larger windows than the default 800x600.
• Game goes idle when possible. Nice for battery preservation and for keeping temperature controlled fans quiet.
• Addition of Conference North for low league management fans (it is called Northern Premier to preserve compatibility with unpatched CM)
• International transfer windows for most european leagues
• Regens rewritten to create more balanced young players (default ones can be very skewed with low physical attributes etc)
• Game can be exited by closing the window
• 100s of bugfixes, crashes and long-term stability fixes

The changes from 2.20 patch are

• New regen code; regenerated players are now inbetween regens and newgens.
• Introduction of international transfer windows to most European countries (thank you Saturn!).
• Lots of foreigner rules updated (also, thank you Saturn who did a lot of work here).
• Lots of competition rules updated (again, thank you Saturn and milo).
• Made it easier to get jobs abroad (thank you JohnLocke and Saturn!).
• Loaned players can play in European competitions
• Competition team selection updates (like African Nation and Copa America -- thanks to milo, xeno and Saturn)
• Players can go unhappy when clubs finances are bad (unintentionally disabled by a bug in SI games _compiler_ ).
• Fixed bug with rampant arena upgrades in countries like Germany.
• Fixed bug with the World Club Championship not finishing.
• Fixed bug with occasional duplicate teams in Italian Cup fixed causing the competition to stop (thanks Rudi).
• Fixed bug with Irish Leinster Cup not being drawn (thanks Rudi).
• Fixed bug with European Championship when starting in 2015.
• Fixed bug with game crashing when starting in 2016
• Relegation to lower leagues in Scotland, Japan, Holland and possibly others
• Many other small changes to competitions

The amount of testing this patch has received likely dwarfs the amount of testing the game received by sigames (we have run 1000s of seasons! Possible due to power of modern computers).

With this patch, the game has been tested 1000s of season and shown that it will run 100+ seasons without serious errors.

Unlike some of the other patchers, this one has been a team effort.

Especially thanks should go to Saturn who has not only posted detailed information what needs to be changed, but also provided assembly or bytecode snippets that could be easily used. His contributions have been phenomenal.

milo has been constantly providing feedback and doing testing. His summaries of changes and bugs from other threads has been invaluable

Rudi-Assauer has been running 100s if not 1000s of seasons of tests providing detailed feedback of any issues encountered.

xeno has also been actively providing feedback of items to be fixed, spotting some very subtle bugs.

A lot of the changes will be implemented when you either save the game or when the game updates. Some features only active on new saves but the majority should work with your old saves.

Hi guys the patch is great ! However every time in June during the update of the game this one crashes. I have to uninstall the patch to let the update work and install the game again. Cheers

Did you uninstall 0102 completely, do a fresh install then apply the patch? As you need to, to be certain it has worked and not hindered by a previous install.

No, but then i lose my own data and saved games.. So it is necessary?

It's likely you need to change some things to Run As Administrator - cm0102.exe, cm0102ed.exe, cm0102_GDI.exe. Try uninstalling the patch and then reinstalling it. The changes are there for sure
