Mark playing a odd game. I guess that some things never change

Congrats on getting R crossed off. With all these jobs being offered you should have something soon

    I think I'm out on 15/26

It had been coming for a while I think. There had been bugs very early on, no Copa America since 2017 for instance (3/4 Play-off not played).... Wales not being drawn in qualifying another bug.

It's quite annoying. But what can you do?

Do you think I should have stayed with Kilmarnock? My reasoning was I could get another letter checked off fairly quickly if it goes well and another league title checked off in a different nation too. Would surely help my European pedigree?

No. This is about getting titles as quickly as possible. Odd is both a quick title and an awkward letter so that was a shoe in to take.
It was supposed to be a pun on "odd" as your style is not the smash-em-in from the start sort of game.

@kengandhi .... No way. Have you tried everything ? Is it worth uploading your save to see if someone can fix it ?

Explanation for this is in here mate http://champman0102.co.uk/showthread...ht=wales+euros

For anyone that this is an issue for (our Welsh and Serb fans I'm sure!) here is a solution.

Make 2 of the minnow nations Extinct and delete their data from the Euro.cfg file. (e.g. Andorra, San Marino, Liechenstein)

    How to do this:

    * Open the Editor (cm0102ed.exe)
    * Go to the Nations tab
    * Select the Nation you can to make Extinct and delete their Continent data.
    * Save your changes
    * Go to the Data folder and open euro.cfg in Notepad
    * Delete the Nation data for the Nations you made Extinct and save the Euro.cfg
    * Load new game and Wales and Yugoslavia (Serbia) are now in every Edition of World Cup and European Championships

Make sure to make a copy of the euro.cfg beforehand if you want to revert the changes.

All players at clubs in other nations will load but you'll notice you now cant click into their nation. Also the clubs for these nations wont load.

To be honest I wouldn't have noticed, but I took the Wales job and it became quickly apparent.

I doubt this is why my save file is buggered then.

That's 'I' done. Currently with VFB Stuttgart, stuttering through the Bundesliga. Also took the Japan job, which put me on first position in reputation globally. Played three matches, 18-3 in all. Nice start in Tokyo

Now this is getting rediculous. It is one thing to be unable to compete with East Stirling in the transfer market, but when a Swiss International with 9 caps decides to join Cambridge (odds on be relegated to L2) rather than a La Liga club then you know it's getting out of hand.

Zaragoza may not have won La Liga, but by any measurement you have to say that it was a pretty decent season. I had set a target of top half, but after a tricky opening period where we found goals hard to come by, we developed a reputation for being a very difficult team to beat. I reset the target to be European qualification, and by half way, when we were 4th, Champion's League became the new target.

The new recruits had been key. When I first looked at the squad I though it was OK, but a second look saw a lot of squad players and very few that were first team on a regular basis. It was going to take a major overhaul, starting with the keeper. In Loris Speranza I finally landed a keeper that I had been after for years. I tried to get him for Nice, Panathinaikos and Twente, but even though a deal could be done with Napoli, he was not prepared to leave. His reward for that loyalty …. dumped at the end of his contract and I happily snapped him up. His 1 cap came this season

As is usual for me, I went back to some former players. Carlos Castro from Lanus along with Ergys Kastrati and Juan Salmeron from Panathanikos. I also got several young spanish players who were unhappy at not getting game time. The fullbacks Moises Munos and Kepa Costa deserve special mention.

They were not all successes though. Juan Camilo Hernandez was a Columbian international striker who had been signed up on a Bosman by my predecesor. I was short of strikers, and he looked good, so I let the deal continue. 17 mins into his debut, he went down like a sack of potatoes screaming for a penalty, although there was not a defender near him. Yellow card, at which point he starts arguing with the ref and is sent off. 3 games later he works himself back onto the bench, comes on after 1 hour and 14 minutes later he went down like a sack of potatoes screaming for a penalty, although there was not a defender near him. Yellow card, at which point he starts arguing with the ref and is sent off. This time he gets a fine and is transfer listed. I was lucky and Torino offered me £5.75m, so all is not too bad. I even replaced him for free with former Paraguay and Flamengo striker Mauro Caballero.

In total, there were 28 in at a cost of £19.5m with 33 departing, generating £26.5m.

    The result ….

We even spent 24 hours at in top spot on 2 occasions. I did dream for a bit, but Atletico were just too consistent. I do have high hopes for next season. The problem has been obvious, a lack of goals. It is slightly masked as we put 4 past Betis and 4 past Real in our final 2 league games. Before that we had the lowest goals score outside the bottom 5. It should also be noted that nobody beat us by more than 1 goal and Celta (batstard) Vigo were the only ones to put 3 past us. Only Thaqi (13) and Caballero (10 in ½ a season) made double figures. If I can sort out my attacking options (I am trying to do a deal with a young Argentine forward and have agreed a bosman with former Panathanikos striker Florin Dumishaj) then I have high hopes. I also need a bit of midfield width so that I can keep a settled 4-4-2. Unfortunately my only real winger has decided to **** off to struggling Leganes rather that play Champions League football with us.

If goals were a problem in La Liga, it was positively a goal rush in the Copa del Rey. 2-1 wins over Real Soceidad and Rayo set the ball rolling. At. Baleares were out classed, 5-0 in the first leg and we took our foot off the gas. 2-0 in the second had us in the quarter final. A 4-1 win in Valencia made the second leg a formality, 1-1 the final score. Atletico Madrid next and 2 wins, 2-1 away, 2-0 at home had us in the final and Sevila.

Mauro Cabalero gave us an early lead and we looked like getting a second. A red card for Jose Giminez and surely there was no way back for Sevila, except that nobody had told keeper Sergio Rico or striker Francisco Triguero. Rico was on startling form, and with his only chance, Triguero got a late equaliser. Extra time and the 11 men finally came good. Mink Peeters came on to the left midfield of the 4-1-3-1-1 lineup and with his first touch latched onto Castro's chip and hit the back of the net.

Finally Slovenia who are going to Italy for Euro'28. I did wonder as we struggled to breakdown Estonia and the 0-0 home draw left a lot of work for the second leg. 2 early goals, Mlakar and Blazic settled any doubts and Mlakar even got a 3rd. We now face Czech Republic, France and Germany in the group. 2 friendlies were played, Czech Republic (2-1) and Turkey (2-0) so we travel in hope, rather than expectation.

An update from me as I move into my 10th season in the save...

I had a lot of fun with wheeling and dealing at Odd, selling 33 players and bringing in 17 of my own. I still had 16 players on the transfer list that I didn't want but I was starting to see the squad take shape.

After a LONG break until the season kicked off, I had fun arranging friendlies against my old teams, beating Drogheda, Jeonbuk, Berwick and Kilmarnock as well as drawing against Bohemians.

The season started with a whimper though, losing 4:2 and we actually failed to win in our first 10 games! It wasn't that we weren't performing well, we were but kept picking up too many draws. Eventually, we started to settle down and got our acts together and enjoyed a 13 match unbeaten record at one point but that winless run at the start of the season always kept us back. In the end, we finished 4th with 10 draws which says it all. It's a bit of a disappointment but I do see it as progress having been 8th last season and also we only lost 5 games. I'm now aiming for a charge at the title itself next season, especially with 7 unwanted players on their way out soon on Bosman deals.

The Norwegian Cup was an adventure though, beating 6 teams on my way to the Cup Final itself! We were up against Stabaek but lost an eight goal thriller that went into extra-time. So close, yet so far!

Out of my signings, I'd say that this guy signed for £925K (a then record signing) was my best although he took a little while to break into the team.

Kingsley - Well done on the cup win mate, shame about the league, Athetico look quite the challenge ahead of next season, as you say a record of 56 goals scored in 38 league games isn't good enough so it's good to see you addressing that already.

Mark - What a nightmare start to the season! Thankfully you got your act together before you may have got a P45, conceding a goal a game though so hopefully you concentrate on the defence ahead of the new campaign.

    Good luck Gilbtron.

Mark, That start to the season cost you. I expect a much better run this time round. Will that 4th place get you into the Inter_Twobob cup (or whatever it is now called) Might help to attact some better players.

Update on the Euros and my recruitment.

First up for Slovenia was the easiest tie on paper. Czech Republic who we beat in a friendly. This was a game of missed chances. The normally lethal Jan Mlakar alone missed the target with 6 efforts. 3 minutes from time, he got his 7th chance, 1-0 Slovenia and 3 points in the bag.

France are a very different proposition. We had to start well and we didn't Bayern's Maxwel Cornet got 2 inside 20 minutes and then France toyed with us. The final score could have been much worse.

Finally Germany. I new what to expect from the World Cup semi final loss to them with Algeria where they just didn't give in. For long periods it was the expected backs against the wall, but we always looked dangerous on the break. The 4-4-2 diamond was holding firm. Mlaker found Jahic on a run from the AMC position. The first effort was saved, but he followed up to pounce on the rebound 1-0 and Slovenia go crazy. Draxler hit the post, Palacios-Martinez had an effort saved by Oblak and we held on. Germany were dumped out at the group stage and we progress !

Germany were not the only casualties. Favourites Spain were sent home by a Scotland team that managed 3 0-0 draws to progess with England ! Portugal and Belgium were the other big name casualties.

There are no easy games, but Croatia are probably not the hardest. Unfortunately it was another where we left our shooting boots at home. We had chances to win, especially after Croatia had a man sent off, but the early goal from Mlinaric was enough for Croatia (although we were unlucky to have a goal ruled offside against a guy lying injured. How was he interfering with play ?)

Netherlands went on to beat Italy in the final, despite John van t' Schip retiring 3 days before the final !

In the aftermath there were vacancies in Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain which I applied for (and Ukraine which I didn't). I though I might have a chance of Belgium or Portugal, but being 5th ranked in Spain, I was very surprised when this happened

No excuses for not getting International success this time ! Bosnia, Bulgaria, Latvia and Norway between me and the next World Cup finals.

Back in Zaragoza there has been much wheeling and dealing. I have to say that I am very excited about me new all Argentine attack

£5.5m and £7m from River and Estudianties (LP). It they don't get goals, nobody will ! I also have 2 Slovenian wingers and Ethan Ampedu, a Welsh utility player who I previously signed for Nice. I have very high hopes for this season, both at home and in the Champions League (if it doesn't interfere with La Liga progress)

Well done on progressing from a tough group mate, shame about the defeat to Croatia, but not a bad new job

Plenty of attacking options for Zaragoza there mate, so hopefully they will rectify the shortness in goals last season.

A tough place to start but easily achievable if you sign the right players

    Good luck.

Is there anywhere in this that is not a tough place to start ? I thought that was the point of it

I didn't think so but 13 games into the new season, we're up to June and have been informed that we will partake in the Inter-Toto! Hopefully a good chance to boost my reputation in Europe.
